Didn't get to watch the game on account of date night
I picked a bad night to miss a game! Damn. If I only had the ESPN highlights to go off of, what with replay after replay of court length alley oops from Wade to James (still impressive) and no Nuggets highlights, I’d’ve thought we lost…
It was good to see the Nuggets persevere through all the ticky-tack foul calls that went the Heat’s way and play a good, solid game at both ends. Mozgoz finally played the way we have been hoping for and Gallo matched up well with LeBlah. However, Karl’s lineups still baffle me…3 guards on the floor at once?
No, no, that Cat’s as much a woman as this Cat is…
…though in my case, I’ll admit, I think of myself more as a girl than a woman…
…and then I remember that a girl wouldn’t have memories of 9/11, let alone Challenger, and I start crying…
He did some very un-George Karl like things against Miami.
Like giving Moz minutes late in the second quarter — he’s usually only seen to start the first and the third. And Mozgov was very effective on offense during his extended time.
Oh. And I thought of you when Karl made a timely time-out when Miami went on their early second quarter run.
The loudest game I have ever been to was a few years back vs Dallas. The nuggets won 77-75. Dirk had a chance to put them up by 1 at the line but he missed both ft Att. It was so loud when he shot that it felt like the building was shaking
I was at last year’s game vs. the Heat (We still had Melo, and I think the Heat were minus LeBron), and that game was awesome. We smoked the Heat and JR kept shooting 3s and making all kinds of crazy 3s at the end – It was almost embarrassing in a fun weird way (JR has a way of making you feel that way :). But, there still was a disconnect with that team and it was almost like a bittersweet win, because you still felt like an inevitable trade was coming…Not so this year, we’ll be rolling with the same guys and those tacos will be tasting really good tomorrow! :)
All around, this was probably the best win of the season against a rested Heat team. Nuggets kept it close and then blew it out late. Nice to see Moz showcase some very unique skills for a 7 footer, with a nice outside touch, jump hook, blocked shot, and rebounding. Ty was incredible, and ran circles around the heat. Gallo and Rudy provided nice outside shooting. Nene struggled in the paint on offense, but was solid on the defensive glass. By the way, would like to see Nene and Moz work more together, on high-lows, picks and interior passing. Nene and Kmart had nice chemistry, and hope Nene and Moz can develop this (with Moz getting more minutes from Karl). Al provided some nice offense off the bench.
Only downer – -I am growing tired of Andre Miller’s sad sack demeanor. He looks like so unhappy and even disinterested on the court at times. He is pro, and is still contributing, but this young team needs better leadership from Dre. I know he has a lot of pride, and wants to be a starter, but at 35 he has a nice role on this young team. C’mon Dre, pull it together man!
Dre would have one of those games every once in a while for us last year too… just passive & unengaged, and with his stoic demeanor it seems like he’s pouting or whatnot. But frankly I think it’s just those 35 y/o legs or knees getting tired. Almost always he’d come back the next game solid.
Dude keeps to himself so it’s hard to get a read on him, but for us despite a rocky start (mostly on Nate) he was a consummate pro. So many games things would start to go awry and he’d take charge & calm the waters. Y’all got the best of the Felton/Andre trade IMO.
I love Dre’s point guard skills and natural feel for the game. Just wish he would just let his ego drop and tad and recognize this team can go a long way. Plus, like Anthony Carter, Karl loves Dre and he will always get big minutes under GK.
It is ridiculous and makes some of the stiffs look ignorant.
Moz has upside, Ujiri knows what he is doing.
Sure Moz will have bad games, but this is what we will see of Moz down the line. I like K2 too, but Bird should not play anymore.
Surprised he is in the doghouse, but the Bird should only be a insurance policy right now.
When people get speculative about how trades and personnel changes could potentially improve the team, it doesn’t make them a kneejerker.
Even with Timofey’s good play, I think a solid center could be the piece that makes Denver great — not just good. Maybe Timofey will be solid. Last night was encouraging.
On Bird: I’m a little surprised he didn’t get any playing time, as he hasn’t been especially terrible the last few games, which is to say no more than usual. I can only suspect that it was more a case of Brewer emerging than Bird diminishing.
Near the end of second quarters…but that is it.
I really want Faried to get minutes soon, the dude deserves it for real.
If we do re-sign Chandler, I wonder what Ujiri will do.
All I know is I am glad it is in his hands and not any of the stiffs.
I seriously saw someone here say they wanted to trade Lawson for Okafor last year when Melo was on the Nugz…that would have been a wonderful trade (NOT!!!)
Though he is looking more like a amnesty candidate at this point.
While Harrington was working hard, Bird was partying…he should be an insurance policy until ChuChu is ready to come to the NBA and take over the role as an insurance policy.
I DVR’d this one and can’t wait to watch tomorrow. Knowing the outcome won’t spoil it in the least. Just glancing at the numbers and reading the comments here, it sure sounds like a mighty impressive win! WOO-HOO!!!
CWebb and friends spend more time talking about the Heat that the Nuggests on Gametime. Also not a single comment about the Nuggs being a good team, just Heat this and Heat that blah blah blah.
though I think he's contractually obligated to love the heat
In all the major media outlets I’ve been so far, they all show the same thing-
Denver didnt win this game, Miami lost it. Man, as a denver nuggets fan, thats just insulting. Why cant they for once acknowledge that hey, Denver IS and elite team and they beat the Heat despite the pro-heat refs.
Those officials were so infuriating. Watching Moz and Nene get hammered on back to back dunks just about put me over the edge. It’s so tough to be an NBA fan when you’re team gets absolutely shit on by the refs, and then you see whiny bitch stars argue and get the crap calls. Too bad I’m hooked.
They didn’t call a lot of contact on either end, which I generally like. I really didn’t think the officiating was especially bad. Nor Mullin’s color work, really.
which I absolutely credit to GK working the refs. It was so absurd in the first quarter and a half or so, where just like game 2 (i think) of the first round last year, the refs were doing anything they could to keep miami in the game. But even the refs have to realize that there is no point when the Nuggets are consistently outplaying them.
Was it just me, or was this the first game that GK was up off the bench? And the whole game, too! This is the kind of coaching I want to see from him all of the time. I know it fires the young guys up to see him animated and fighting for them.
Really encouraged by last night’s game. The Nuggs have now beaten three of the better teams in the League and have a style of play that is really fun to watch. I like the chemistry that is building with these guys – - they seem to genuinely enjoy playing together – - and the ball movements is great. Key will be to take this energy and style of play out on the road for the long road trip next week.
Keeping everyone happy with their minutes with such a deep bench. If they add Ill Will in March, it becomes a bigger challenge. But, injuries are going to happen, so some of that may take care of itself.
Big win..
What can you say.. The Nuggets wore the Heat down. If the Nuggets play hard and hit shots. Unbeatable at home.. nuff said.
