I'm listening to Mike Evans and Joel Klatt on 104.3 FM, they are talking to Scott Hastings about the breaking story that Boston general manager Danny Ainge is willing to break up the "Big Three" that consists of 36 year-old Ray Allen, 35 year-old Kevin Garnett, and 34 year-old Paul Pierce. Could the Nuggets be in the market for any of them? Should Denver be interested?

I'm not sure if Boston will actually pull the trigger on a deal, but with the ages and upcoming free agency of a couple of the Big Three - it might make sense for Boston to shake things up. And a few contenders could get the right player to push them over the top.
The remaining contracts:
Paul Pierce: makes $15.3 million this season, $16.7M in 2012-13, and $15.3M in 2013-14.
Ray Allen: making $10M this season and will be a free agent after the season.
Kevin Garnett: making $21.2M this season and will be a free agent after the season.
You only make a deal for one of these guys if you feel your team is right on the brink of a title. Would the Thunder chase after Kevin Garnett to toughen up their interior defense? Perhaps Ray Allen could be the sniper they need off Russell Westbrook drive-and-dishes?
Wouldn't the Lakers put in a call for Los Angeles native Pierce? Would Lakers fans riot if that happened? Might the Mavs want to plug KG in for Brendan Haywood? What about the Hawks? With Al Horford out, they sure could use KG in the middle. The Spurs sure wouldn't mind plugging a veteran scorer in with Manu Ginobili missing extended time.
There are lots of possibilities around the League for these aging veterans. The Nuggets surely have the assets to get a deal done, but why mortgage their future when the team is still trying grow together?
Where will the Big Three wind up?

KG!
KG was hell to play against. But if the Nuggets could trade 2K and something for him. Then yeah.. otherwise no…
djyoung71 - January 19, 2012
bird for KG
do it.
roxintober - January 19, 2012 via Android app
man i think
i would go as far as Bird/Wilson Chandler/Jordan Hamilton + 1st round pick for KG. LOL.
they can amnesty bird. Chandler can be paired w Rondo and hopefully help them lure D12. and Hamilton is cheap and has potential.
we get KG for the year. and hopefully Faried is ready to pick up Bird’s minutes next season. rest of the team is still in tact. plus we’re out of Bird’s contract, dont have to amnesty him. and can now sign Gallo/Rudy to their extensions.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
no way to that trade!
Mancar - January 19, 2012
They can't amnesty bird
You can only do that if a player was on your roster before the lockout
Army of Nugs - January 19, 2012
oh dammit
well i guess well have to amnesty him next season
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
KG would be a great fit!
Tough interior defender and a great leader. We would get a little of that crazy back.
I would worry about chemistry issues though.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
KG
we already have a bunch of good guards.
I’d trade Mozgov and a first rounder for K.G, then put Nene at the 5 again and K.G at the 4.
Nene wouldn’t have to worry about rebounding with K.G in the mix.
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
KG is not a great rebounder
but yeah, id take him too. plus he plays at the top of the key a lot and that would really open up down low for Nene to really dominate 1on1. and make it easier for Ty to drive the lane too.
but would the Cs be better off just trading PP? both Ray Allen and KG come off the books after this season anyway, as does Jermaine ONeal. if they can trade PP, theyll only have Rondo on the books. though im not sure if Rondo and Boston are big enough “names” to lure the top free agents this offseason.
i guess the Cs could trade them for future draft picks but not sure what kind of young talent they could get for any of their geriatrics w/o taking on additional salary for future years. makes me sad since im such a huge Rondo fan.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
he isn't great
but he is good, and he is a lot better at rebounding than Kenyon Martin.
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
Nate knows.
None of Boston’s “Big 3” would substantially improve the Nuggets immediately, and it would put the Nuggets franchise in an even worse position moving forward.
NuggetsFan99 - January 19, 2012
KG would be a huge upgrade in the interior
In my uneducated opinion, the Nugs are a very good pf/c away from being a true contender. Why not make a run with KG, who will come off the books at the end of the year? He is a great defender, can pick and pop and doesn’t demand the ball. A good team guy.
If it doesn’t work, hey we made a run, and a lot of salary comes off the books at the end of the year (KG and Dre)…and the Nugs still have a large part of their core to resign.
Remember, we also have Wilson Chandler to sign and trade. Chandler, Bird and ____ for KG.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
haha exactly what i was thinking
Chandler, Bird and Hamilton + 1st for KG.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
Also, KG has won a championship
Knows the grind of getting through the season and playoffs. He wants to win. That is a huge asset as well…as we saw with Billups.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
Comparing 2012 Garnett to 2008 Billups is an insult to Chauncey.
NuggetsFan99 - January 19, 2012
everything except the first
Mancar - January 19, 2012
Is Wilson Chandler even going to be back in the league before the trade deadline?
And you really think it’s smart to give up Chandler, who would be a nice piece for the Nuggets’ future, for about a month from an over-the-hill KG? I’m sorry to break it to you delusional fans, but adding KG to the current Nuggets team without giving up any assets would not propel this squad anywhere close to a championship.
This ain’t ‘04 KG. Hell, this ain’t even ‘08 KG. This is 13 & 7 KG on a sub .500 team. Not even half a block per game. Yes, you’ll say, “those are just numbers”. Watching games, he has trouble moving around on defense, guarding the pick & roll, and rotating to spots in time on help defense.
He’s no longer a defensive threat, can’t run anymore, can’t jump like he used to, is slow… how is that going to look in the Nuggets’ offensive system. He’d be a liability on both ends for the Nuggets.
NuggetsFan99 - January 19, 2012
I've watched him a couple of times and he looked good.
Certainly older, but stil good and still tough. I’m not sure the Nuggets can sign Gallo, Chandler and Ty. I assume it will be either Chandler or Gallo but who knows.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
With Miller off the books, it's not too unrealistic.
The Nugget should be able to afford Chandler & Gallinari this year, and still have enough room to extend/re-sign Lawson next season.
NuggetsFan99 - January 19, 2012
Off subject
But why sign two SFs to big money? Historically, they have not played well together…or so say the Knicks fans after the trade and, as evidenced as Nugs last year.
Anyway, KG’s stats over the last 4 years mirror that of Nene…including this year.
You can’t tell me that would help them make a run.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
"wouldn't"
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
"Dumb" things happen in this business.
Why was a 30-year old center who is rarely healthy and boasts career averages of 12 PPG & 7 RPG given a 5-year/$67 million dollar contract?
It wouldn’t help this Nuggets squad; it would take away minutes from Harrington, who has been great this season. Al has played better on both ends this season for the Nuggets than KG has for the Celtics.
NuggetsFan99 - January 19, 2012
i dont think Chandler has a future in Denver
Gallo will basically take up Andre’s salary thats coming off the books. Chandler will command more money too, we’re better off trading him. and we still need to get a back up PG.
i think we’re better off trying to sign Rudy to a smaller/shorter contract than Chandler.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
Fernandez/Koufos are also off the books.
And the Nuggets still have their amnesty to use, and one has to think Bird is a likely candidate with how much he’s being used, and how poorly he’s performing when he’s used. Bird would mean another $4.5 million off the books. (Still has 2-years/$10 million remaining after this season)
Koufos would have to be re-signed if Andersen is amnestied, but shouldn’t cost too much. I wouldn’t be surprised if Stone is pushed into the role of back-up PG next season, or a vet is signed for the minimum. Either way, the years we’ve enjoyed of having 2 starting-caliber PGs is over.
A Chandler return is not that unlikely.
NuggetsFan99 - January 19, 2012
hopefully Stone learns how to shoot/score
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
He can shoot and score
He doesn’t like to. He wants to set up teammates for good shots
Army of Nugs - January 19, 2012
I'll take Rudy for cheaper
over Chandler
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
agreed
Chandler seems to be one of those guys who thinks he’s a lot better than he actually is. I could handle giving Rudy a mid level type contract, something like 3yr/15mil, but I don’t think Chandler will take a deal like that. Someone is going to overpay for Wil.
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
I get that sense, too
Artimus Mangilord - January 19, 2012
I said the same thing yesterday
We’re not that close to damage our young core with over the hill, overpaid rental. KG is NOT going to get us over the hump, in fact, I think he’d be detrimental. And didn’t he come into the league straight from high school? At 35, that’s 17 years (or nearly half his life) that he’s been grinding, especially all the post season mileage the Celtics have put in the last few years.
No thanks.
Artimus Mangilord - January 19, 2012
To be fair, I voted KG above since I saw him as the best piece for us in the absence of a "none" option
Artimus Mangilord - January 19, 2012
at the most you give up Chandler's rights, Bird, trade exception, a 1st and a 2nd
no more, but probably not enough.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Meh I wouldn't take any of them. They are on the downsides of their careers.
I thought we Stiffs hated all players that want out of their contracts or push for trades..(KG I’m looking at you).
We already have Lawson , AAA, and Miller to fill the Ray Allen role
And Paul Pierce is getting old and tired.
For the money they would likely command…no thanks.
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
+1
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
+1
I like the way we’re going now and in the future.
NugfaninSA - January 19, 2012
yup
We dont really need forwards or guards, do we? We are kneed eep in those positions and we may have Will coming back. Whats more with the surprising play of Al, Rudy and especially Brewer, who needs the Cs medium 3?
Lets be frank, what we could use is a Center. A real center. Though I’ve stuck up for Moz and believe with my fingers frmly crossed that he will be OK, up to now he’s done very very little.
If we had a center, not the star Centers but a Ty Chandler, A DJordan, a Hibbert, then we’re talking. Add shot blocking, sure up our mediocre rebounding, free Nene from doing that banging he really doesnt do too well, have Ty’s and Gallo’s back as they go for steals, well i might just put some money on us.
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
I'd hate Chandler on this team now this his big fat contract.
CloudBurst - January 20, 2012
KG would put this team over the top.
Nene can move to the 5 spot, no big deal. I dont know what it would take to get him though.
KG – Mozgov + 1st rounder
KG – K2 + Hamilton + 2nd rounder
KG – Bird + Hamilton + 2nd rounder
KG – Mozgov + Hamilton
KG – Brewer + Bird + 2nd rounder
SpencerN - January 19, 2012
Allen would NEVER come to Denver
He would retire if traded here. He loathes George Karl.
Pierce is overpriced….
KG would be the only one I’d consider getting.
Jeffrey Morton - January 19, 2012
Oh that's true! I forgot about that!
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
He dislikes Karl so much he didn't even wish him well while he was battling cancer
that’s some deep hate right there
Jeffrey Morton - January 19, 2012
Dayummmmm
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Deep hate or just being honest and not offering insincere phony wishes that are just patronizing someone that they really don’t care about.
BrianD - January 19, 2012
Brian, um, ahhh..
have you..ahh…been in..uh..that position, you know, before?
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
semi-related
but w Dre coming off the books next year, do u guys think Kirk Hinrich would be a good pick up?
though i do have high hopes for J Stone.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
No.
Can’t shoot…that ship has sailed.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
Hinrich one of the most overrated guys
Along with JJ Redick….neither having the kind of careers they were hyped to have…journeymen at best.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
u guys expect to get a STUD back up PG?
and u know GK is gonna continue to run his 2 PG lineup.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
Not a stud...but I would rather give the 6'7" Stone a chance over KH
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
i do hope stone can get some PT this season.
im a fan.
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
no, just don't want Hinrich
Rather get a younger guy who can run, and develop into a solid backup for Ty.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
I think that Hinrichs career line has really pointed downwards
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
We got a great 3rd Point with big upside
In Julyan Stone
Would like to see him play some but also want Ty and Dre to stay very healthy
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
If they ever do an adult Harry Potter movie
Then Hinrich is your guy. But other than that…
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012 via mobile
hahah classic.
alright, so Hinrich is a no from everyone. lets delete that post! lol
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
None of the big 3 is a good fit for Nuggets!
All 3 are on the decline. KG had knee surgery on offseason
But he hasn’t been old KG for a couple years. But even if he was old KG, not a good fit for Nuggets.
This roster as it is has Chemistry and Balance that a Veteren with more ego than ability will completely ruin. We need open minutes to develop Faried, who is only going to improve with playing time. Same with all our young guys, they will improve with experience. We lead the West in scoring, and we have good defense.
If it ain’t broke, DON’T FIX IT
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
i tend to agree
problem is this team is lacking veteran leadership that is committed to be here beyond this season. we’ve been hoping that Nene can be one of those guys, and committed to Afflalo stepping in that way as well. trading for KG doesn’t help this either as he’s not worth resigning after this year at anywhere near what he is making now. we are better off trying to get a veteran who has about 5 or more yrs in the league from a bad team who would be hungry to be on a winner and provide some leadership as well. no ideas right now on who that could be.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
none of the above
I’d take Kmart over Garnett
buffallo soldier - January 19, 2012
I'd trade AAA for Ray Allen...
AAA’s contract is looking suspect now, but this would be a great way to get rid of that contract. But I really, really REALLY REALLY doubt that Allen would want to play for Karl again
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
Never....ever again. That bridge done been burned
Jeffrey Morton - January 19, 2012
No way
Allen is getting social security checks.
AAA has a future
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
agreed nuggberg
lets not undo our strengths→ youth, speed, balance, tenacity. I doubt that late 30 year olds can blend with our team.
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Thunder sign Westbrook to a 5 year $80 million contract
http://eye-on-basketball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/34466038
This SEVERELY limits their flexibility but good for them for signing angry face.
Jeffrey Morton - January 19, 2012
I bet Durant is happy about that...
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
/snort
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
wow
this probably means that harden or ibaka or perkins or two of the three are gone
swmrkev - January 19, 2012
Bird rights...
OKC are going to be over the cap for years…
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
If Harden really becomes the all-around stud many think he is/will be
I could see him signing a QO and testing free agency after that year
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
Harden is underrated
A star in the beard world
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
he should be a starter on most teams
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Should be a starter on OKC
He is waaaaaay better than Sefalosha. I don’t even know why Sefalosha starts.
JR15 - January 19, 2012
they need bench production
especially with maynor out, if harden started they would have no scoring off the bench
swmrkev - January 19, 2012
I agree
But I guess I am saying he should be starting on OKC too in terms of talent level.
Sefalosha is not even close to a threat offensively or defensively.
JR15 - January 19, 2012
He doesn't start for similar reason that JR didn't start
Bench production is critical.
The U.N. Fab Five - January 19, 2012 via mobile
Harden can flat out do everything
a cold blooded baller
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Great player
With way too much Negative energy… Would not Wang him here. I would much rather have Ty Lawson with his Speed and Positive energy.
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
want not wang
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
tnwss
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Lol
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
wang chung?
or wang zhu zhu? anyone who knows either reference will reveal their age ;)
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Everybody wang chung tonight
since there is no game.
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
I'll bring the wang
if you bring the chung
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Lose Harden, Perkins, or even Ibaka
This team becomes a lot less scary.
KevinAwesome - January 19, 2012
So I am pro huge Westbrook contract
Sink that team, Russell!
KevinAwesome - January 19, 2012
NONE OF THE ABOVE
KG is the only one I’d take, and contrary to what others have said I think he’s great for chemistry. He has an ego for sure, but it’s driven by defense and playmaking if anything. Still, he makes a ton and the salaries would never match up without giving up one of our best players…. not worth it.
rxmart2 - January 19, 2012
hard to match the 20 mil he makes this year
without throwing in Nene or AAA
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
I'd honestly use this opportunity to unload Nene's contract
Nene got paid, and he’s still averaging 12 pts 8 rebounds a game…
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
dang, jumping ship already!
Mancar - January 19, 2012
pretty much the same as KG
but 7mil less a year
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
but it expires
after next season…
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
Seriously?
Don’t look at bulk stats to judge any players, especially this season.
Nene is playing less minutes, and that’s why 12/8. His usage, rebounding, assists, blocks, steals are all up on a per/36 basis… as is his turnovers but we won’t talk about that.
On a pay scale for bigs, he’s right where he should be. Look at all the other bigs that are getting paid Nene dollars—he’s been better than most of them.
rxmart2 - January 19, 2012
this is where the melo exception comes into play me thinks.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
we stillhave that?
thought it expired
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
Still good for another month I think
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
nah we didnt trade melo till feb 21
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
They have the remainder of melo trade exception.
The U.N. Fab Five - January 19, 2012 via mobile
The only player worth the effort would be KG
since everyone is in lala land I will play along as well. KG brings the nastiness we need in the playoffs, would give us a solid 20 minutes. The ONLY deal that is plausible from a nuggets standpoint would be Jordan, K2/Mozgov and a second rounder. Anything other than that is WAYYYYY too much.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
I'm not in lala land. I said no...to all three
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
at least someone Im not alone
Mancar - January 19, 2012
No one ever wants to go to “lala” land.
Kevin L - January 19, 2012
Not possible
Salaries don’t match. We’d have to send them around 15 million in contracts per the CBA.
rxmart2 - January 19, 2012
sorry meant to include the melo exception.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
Once again
(unless something changed in the new CBA) you can’t combine an exception with players. Sometimes it looks that way, but there are always multiple players coming from both sides.
jbmmlang - January 19, 2012
PP- extremely overrated this far into his career- hell no
Ray allen- would never willingly be within a hundred feet of GK- not gonna happen
KG- only if the price is right, this means NO first rounders- id be okay with this if they took Birdman.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
the only trade we should be thinking about making
is moving faried away from the end of the bench
swmrkev - January 19, 2012
THIS.
trade bird for Faried.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
Wait we can make intra-team trades now?
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
oh yeah here is how it plays out
Faried is traded to the front of the bench for Birdman and bag of skittles. In return Birdman gets to draw up more ideas for tattoos on GK’s board (since he CLEARLY doesn’t need it.) However all is not well, our first rounder falls from early twenties to number 30.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
Faried needs minutes
I’m still in Birds corner. He’s still getting his hops back post lockout, been getting blocks lately. Also there’s so many anti-Bird folks here that a proud few have to stay in his corner.
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012
-1
Mancar - January 19, 2012
hard to get back hops after you lose them
and his instincts to bite on fakes and not able to straight up defend anyone is a liability beyond the minutes. several of his teammates were on his case last night because he was often out of position on defense, especially when “helping”, costing easy layups for the Sixers.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
see now this deserves a +1
Mancar - January 19, 2012
thanks!
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
I'm not giving up on Bird just yet.
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
not giving up, but use in moderation
which is an odd thing to say in regards to Bird ;) better to say use sparingly in spots, no more than 5 minutes at a time or in situational spots.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
he is an at home energizer
liability, but still an energizer. He should come in a break glass case, that says: Use only in case of foul trouble, lack of energy, or being up 15 points.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
kind of glad he put away the fro-hawk though, it was getting played out
looks more like “Sons of Anarchy” now
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
I haven't given up on him
I just don’t see why he gets playing time over Kosta, Mozgov, and Faried.
KevinAwesome - January 19, 2012
I was anti-bird before it was cool. lol.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
Still not cool
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012 via mobile
i think we are still at least two weeks away from having to think about roster moves
barring injury of course. they get 4 or more wins on this roadie, and it will eliminate most of the stink from the NO and Utah losses at home, and we’re in good shape. don’t want to affect the development of guys like Gallo or Moz by bringing a vet with an ego who will demand more PT.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
When do the Nuggets play OKC again?
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
feb 19th
so still a while
swmrkev - January 19, 2012
hope the roster and rotations are closer being set by then
and everyone is over the lockout legs
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Schedule at the beginning of Feb is brutal.
Starts with back to back to back vs. Clips, Lakers and Portland. Ouch.
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
on a separate note
yesterday was an extremely awesome night for the Nuggets. first the Nuggets win one of the best road wins i can remember (barring Cleveland Melo vs. Bron). Second OKC loses and so does NYK. It would’ve been perfect if JJ Reddick got his shot off quicker.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
yep, to win on the road against a hot home team after giving up a good lead
shows some character, but Dre was most of the reason for that, should be the exception rather than the rule.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
portland loss too
im putting my money on Utah tonight though
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
my bad forgot that one.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
if utah loses tonight
we become the number 2 seed. YESSSS
Mancar - January 19, 2012
now thats good info mancar
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
so looking at the league
there is no doubt that the NW conference is by far the best division and by a very large margin.
overall records
atlantic – 29-42 (.408)
central – 35-35 (.500)
SE – 35-36 (.493)
pacific – 33-37 (.471)
SW – 35-36 (.493)
NW – 45-26 (.634)
kinda nice to see the nuggets doing so well in such a great division
swmrkev - January 19, 2012
so finishing in the top 3 would make them pretty battle tested
but we also want them to finish in the top 4 of conference preferably…
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Division records are a waste
for the 82 game seasons anyway, because every team plays every team in their CONFERENCE 4 times and everyone in the opposing conference 2 times.
I think that they should pull an MLB and make it so that west teams only play east teams for a certain amount of time during a year for say 20 games. Then each division team plays division rivals more than other teams in the respected conference.
It would give more meaning to division rivalry.
Division games are IMPORTANT in the NFL and MLB, why not the NBA too?
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
Can we get KG for our second rounder, Bird and a trade exemption?
Rockridge1 - January 19, 2012
This is what I recommend.
It is freeing up space. giving them a serviceable (ROFL) big man and a pick. We would probably have to throw is J Ham to get them interested though.
Mancar - January 19, 2012
cant combine TPEs w players
808inDenver - January 19, 2012
Amnesty Bird (since we will anyway)
Trade our 2012 second rounder and GS second rounder for Garnett
After trade resign Galo
Rockridge1 - January 19, 2012
have to wait till the summer to amnesty anyone
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
TY
Rockridge1 - January 19, 2012
can you combine multiple TPE's
cause I was looking at the trade machine and we have melos at 4.5 and Feltons at 7
Mancar - January 19, 2012
not as far as I can tell
I didn’t realize a lot of Melo’s TPE was eaten up already.
That’ll make trades more difficult for them. Best to stand unless something really great comes along.
rxmart2 - January 19, 2012
Seriously we NEED to get Garnett
No Brainer
Rockridge1 - January 19, 2012
More than we need to get PPF?
Artimus Mangilord - January 19, 2012
HA
PPF was teaching Garnett in Boston.
KevinAwesome - January 19, 2012
With our GM we may get him for a can of Pepsi
That is a compliment
Rockridge1 - January 19, 2012
Pepsi is premium
how about Big K’s Caffeine free diet cola!
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
Wait we have to trade the arena for him?. Forget it
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Check this out
This will probably change tomorrow, but over at Basketball Reference.com they have a playoff probability calculator. Right now they have the Nuggets as the top seed in the west, most likely to reach the finals, and most likely of the Western teams to win. This will probably change tomorrow, but it is fun to look at:
jbmmlang - January 19, 2012
What happened to my link?
Trying again.
play off probability link
jbmmlang - January 19, 2012
That's pretty sweet
I like how we’re projected to win the finals, yet still have a chance to hit the lottery…
CombatChuk - January 19, 2012
GOM GOM GOM
8.9% chace we win a ship this year!
InboundingLobPass - January 19, 2012 via mobile
philly the major favorite in the whole league
this is clearly based heavily on average win margin, which probably needs a lot more games to be very predictive.
Rainbow skyline - January 19, 2012
Yeah, especially since FOUR of the Sixers wins have come against the WIZARDS
My headline looks like a joke, but I assure you it is not. And they’ve beaten ONE team with a winning record, I think.
LongWindedHank - January 19, 2012
fascinating
though I dont understand how we could rank ahead of Thunder
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
OMG
I just realized the Garnett trade can be expanded to include the PPF (drooling on my keypad)!
Rockridge1 - January 19, 2012
PPF!!!!
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
It will never stop..
but I’ll be down with PPF and Faried and trade away Hamilton.
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
Hamilton
and a 2nd rounder for PPF
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
Ha, I replied too soon above
You didn’t let me down
Artimus Mangilord - January 19, 2012
There are wiser moves the Nuggets can make
this team is still built to make a strong run for the future, the only way I would want to see KG in powder blue is if they have to give very little in return, no young talent and no future draft 1st rounder. But I still think that money can go to a more serviceable piece that will become available before the deadline(or Chandler).
Phil H. - January 19, 2012
Please no!
If you made me cast a vote, it would be for Pierce, since the Nuggets need a guy with proven toughness and smarts who wants the ball to score when it matters. But no way. Younger, please. More years left to fit in with this already gifted, exciting team that’s firing on nearly all cylinders.
LongWindedHank - January 19, 2012
Is it firing on all cylinders though?
the 5 spot has not really had it going except for 2 or 3 games this season.
K.G gives you interior toughness that Mozgov does not have.
Although trading with Boston isn’t something I’d recommend either, I’d like to develop Mozgov and Kostas before making any assumption on either.
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
Must agree about the 5
But my League Pass viewing, especially this season, says Garnett is no longer the answer to interior toughness. (I know you don’t mean he’s a 5.) Besides, what this team needs is a tough, reliable scorer, which is why I mention Pierce.
We’re doing pretty well defensively, though I agree we don’t look great when it comes to individual defense on opposing teams’ bigs. Take Jefferson and Millsap a few games back.
While I’m at it, it’s those very types that would help this team offensively. They killed us, and they kill others. We need that very thing.
LongWindedHank - January 19, 2012
ESPN with its top notch journalism again
WE NEED LEBRON VS KOBE OR WE ALL DIE!!!
Phil H. - January 19, 2012
It's 2012. We are all going to die anyway
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
like kobe vs LBJ is really a competition
James regularly crushes the Kobe led lakers. If Ls got lucky enough to advance to finals against Miami would be all over Kobe like one of Kobe’s cheap paramours.
I guess you know where I stand in this debate.
Also please save your 5 rings to 0 argument here because if Kobe had to play with Lebrons Cavs he would have ended up in a psychiatric ward not NBA finals.
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Thought some of you would like this
Chris Tomasson
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
Well what else is he going to say?
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
I know the answer is obvious
But I still like it
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
I just
hope they do their talking on the court come Saturday. Pummel the knicks please
NewEraNugg - January 19, 2012
agreed
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
I think Melo will try to go for 50 in that game
But as long as the Nuggets win, that’s alright with me.
holyMonkey - January 19, 2012
he will take like 45 shots to get to 50
and the nugs win 115-80
Rainbow skyline - January 19, 2012
MSG has their own refs
Melo may go to the line 25 times
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Pieces of the MSG ceiling will fall, as it is wont to do
And the Nuggs will get whistled for it
Artimus Mangilord - January 20, 2012
lets see cat, Al could say...
“Not better, just different”
“Ah we just been lucky”
“Really, we are?”
“The who trade?”
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Yeah but no...
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Even if he believed any of those silly things he wouldn't say it. That's the point.
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
didnt say he'd believe it, just say it
but you know athletes speak drivel all the time, except for barkley
Me? I would have had to stifle a laugh and then I would have laughed my head off.
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Westbrook signed a 5 year 80 million dollar deal today
hefty contract… I don’t think it was worth it, but I’m glad they are stuck with him.
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
he's a knucklehead but he's a top 5 PG in this league
he just needs to grow up.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Jeff linked to this above ...
Nate Timmons - January 19, 2012
Oh I know
I was just thinking out loud.
CloudBurst - January 19, 2012
that's what this is forum is for right?
keep thinking!
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
He's a great player (even though I don't like him)
but no way is he worth a max contract, although I’m the type that thinks there’s only 5-10 guys in the league worth the max.
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
when he's a big part of your team getting into the WCF in their 2nd playoff appearance
and a division title, then he’s worth it. i don’t like his sourpuss attitude, no doubt, but he’s a baller and won’t back down from anyone.
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
More whistles to them.
Kevin L - January 19, 2012
I'm glad to see that just about everybody mis-interpreted the poll question!!! Good work ya Stiffs!
I didn’t say which guy could help the Nuggets specifically … I asked which guy could help another team out the most and where do you see that fit coming …
Like: KG could help the Spurs.
Or: Pierce could help the Nuggets (blah!)
Or: Ray Allen would surely help the Sixers.
I don’t see Denver getting into the mix, but contenders in the league will surely be calling Ainge …
Nate Timmons - January 19, 2012
that never happens...lol
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
that is something to worry about..impact of those guys going to other contenders
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
Ray Allen to the Bulls?
that’s just nasty, perfect fit with DRose IMO
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
that would be nasty
and Danny Ainge would get skewered by the city of Boston for doing that
jd80229 - January 19, 2012
He’s already on thin ice, letting Chicago have Scalabrini.
Kevin L - January 19, 2012
hahaha nice
moonchild808 - January 19, 2012
I think probably because you scared the bejeebus
out of all of us last night about being too OT so we just assumed this was about the Nuggets :)
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Why would anyone think about another team?
I keep my world small…and like it that way :)
Pusherman - January 19, 2012
I only care when one of those guys gets traded to a team in our division :)
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Reading comprehension fail
D’oh!
Artimus Mangilord - January 19, 2012
Well, it was a collective hivemind failure. So YAY for Stiffs!!!!
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
we never fail!
…..at failing lol
JBnuggs - January 19, 2012
Woo hoo!!!!
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
Sorry Nate, you are so right
I did jump to misinterpret and then jumped all over what was suggested by that misinterpretation. You betcha, any of those three could help another team immensely. I predicted the C’s would move to open up salary quite a few games ago (ask my galpal), and now it looks like it may happen.
LongWindedHank - January 19, 2012
No Fair......Trick Question!
Nuggburg - January 19, 2012 via mobile
And this is why I voted for Pierce.
I thought I had read it incorrectly until this post :p
Oh, Pierce to the Mavs to replace Vince Carter
Russscot - January 19, 2012
Trick question
Ok Nate, you are technically right but you should have known that everything would devolve back to us, to the Nuggets. Maybe we dont care about the other teams.
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
oh, so its about other teams huh?
So whats for dinner tonite Stiffs?
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
Good Lord people!
I don’t want an asshole like KG anywhere near my team. Plus he hates Euros and anybody smaller than him…i.e. most of the team. The guy is a dick and has about 1/4 of a knee left. I leave you with the only good thing Manu has ever done in his life.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCqefcY7lpI
RockyNuggets - January 19, 2012
thats what I love about manu
that and I remember the drawn charges against Melo at crunch time, last year, right? when Melo was a Nug. Sorry, stiffs, but I still cackle over that one (s).
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
So anyone watching
the most hated but really good player vs the most hated but really good player?
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
let's not forget
HE IS A “CANCER” ON THE COURT
InboundingLobPass - January 19, 2012 via mobile
Get ray Allen, we need a closer
5baker5 - January 19, 2012
We do need another crazy guy.
Kevin L - January 19, 2012
He's the wrong crazy guy. Metta World Peace on the other hand
SDcat09 - January 19, 2012
I refuse to make the Lakers taller…..
Kevin L - January 19, 2012
K-mart owned him...
5baker5 - January 19, 2012
He’s going with Cuban though…
Kevin L - January 19, 2012
funny shit
sgiustra - January 19, 2012
We don't need any of those old fogies
If anything we need to improve at the 5, as many excellent Stiffs have noted. But not with a mental rental like KG.
If Moz and K2 just don’t hack it, we have pieces to trade for an upgrade or a lottery pick. Chandler+K2+our 1st pick (or similar combination) is worth something. We can stay young, becasue Ty and AAA are the new leaders.
slader - January 20, 2012
from your keys
to Ujirii’s ears
sgiustra - January 20, 2012
Definite Maybe for KG
Nugs aren’t going to be keeping so many players next year anyway. Perhaps the leak was just a way for celts to motivate the big 3. But KG would be an upgrade for the playoffs, c’mon.
As to point BU. The nugs hopefully get a very low pick in the draft, just the place to pick up another point prospect, but hopefully stone will be the guy.
