good thing there is a little break before the next game
Ty looked completely gassed, and Nene could also use the rest. Also, who needs a superstar to hit the difficult shot when Dre Miller can knock it down from the 4th row?
dear al,
i made fun of you when you took on the hamburger challenge in las vegas,
when you played like crap last year,
i thought you were too old,
too slow,
paid too much,
and i am sorry because you have been my favorite nugget this year.
signed,
then tried to shoot through a triple team at the end of OT(when he could have actually won it) and was outshined by Gallo in 2nd OT. Sorry but to have a clutch game your team needs to win, clutch for me=being big to help win. Otherwise he just made big shots to delay the same outcome.
Melo was clutch in the 4th, how bout that? He also was a detriment to his team the first 3 Qs and the Knicks were playing better with him off the court.
Didn’t get the 7 man rotation by Karl though. It shows he wanted to win this one badly, but hope he didn’t aggravate any lingering injuries with our guys in the process. Big props to Al for his clutch shooting, Dre for that incredible 3, Gallo for scoring brilliance, Ty and Nene for gutting it out, and to Mozzie for giving us a great game. Am anxious to hear from Karl on his strategy with the tight rotation and for not getting Melo his 6th Foul.
I was watching a DVR of the game and it expired with 1:30 left in OT and Denver down by 3. With great trepidation did I wander to the internet to discover the results...
What’s funny is that Harrington was signed as the “win-now” guy to convince Melo to stay, and now he’s playing the best basketball of his life with this badass team.
why have D’Antoni coaching a largely front-court oriented iso-ball team? He excels with pick and rolls which require outstanding guard play. Yes, better than Baron Davis.
but they’d still be a lot better (of course this all assumes Nash continues to produce like a freak at 38 years old). Also you have to limit Nash’s workload, so that’s a bit of a problem
Has done an amazing job of outrunning his age.
But when it finally catches up to him, look out.
Come to think of it, John Stockton was good until he retired at 41?
You can’t play D on the young guys at 37, but Nash never was any good at Defense.
would love to see one of the stars get traded for the sake of a better fit. A trade sending Dwight to Miami for either LeBron or both Bosh and Wade would be similarly hilarious.
How crazy was that desperation 3 Andre hit in the first overtime? That’s the game-changer right there. No OT2 without that. My man Dre was balling tonight. Crazy shot.
4th game in 5 nights on the east coast on a road trip
and we won them all and beat a slightly below mediocre Knicks team. I wouldn’t say that as playing like poo, we played as good as a team could play under that kind of work load in a short amount of time.
And people kept showing up. They are scrambling to move pool tables and set up folding tables.
I didn’t do a head count, but it was a lot. And then you have to figure that there was a lot of posting in the game thread considering all the Stiffs otherwise occupied.
But ya I was there with my cuz and new stiffs poster chaunceysyoungestfan. That game was insane but Jakes was even crazier. I don’t know what the occupancy compacity is for Jakes but it probably a good thing the fire Marshall didn’t swing by because it was standing room only. Great night. Have to have one at a home game and do something likes “melo’s yellows” used to do with sitting together and have stiffs shirts.
Anyone else think back to the Game in Por last year when Gallo had 30, but couldn't close. Seems to me that he's maturing into an ability to close games.
sad i couldnt watch but followed on espn. got yelled at by the fiance for yelling when big al hit the dagger 3. saw the replay of dre’s rediculous 3. great team win. enjoying the 4-0 eastern road trip and 3 tough wins in a row.
just your resident Knick fan here checking to say good game, it was a heartbreaker for me, but not anywhere near one of our bad losses. that’s a loss i can take. the one to the Bucks last night? no way.
and you love when he hits the big shots, but you scratch your head when he dribbles into a double team and doesn’t make the obvious pass. it’s like he says ’it’s my team and i’ma put them on my shoulders’ but you’re playing right into the other teams hands by doing so.
do we play you guys again or was this it for the season? i know it’s an unbalanced skedge, altho the NBA would be fools not to have Melo come back to where it started.
but as a few said, Melo is the cause of this nicely laid out team you have. so if you look at it like that, he should get a 10 min. standing ovation! heheh
But I remember how the Nuggets were nothing in the early ’00s until he was drafted and the team’s been in the playoffs ever since.
Sure, I got my issues with Melo’s game, but I have nothing bad to say about him as a person. I just hope he knows that not everyone in Denver is all bitter. Sure, I didn’t like the last half season, but I remember seven good ones before than and one great one.
i hate what have you done for me lately people. i just told someone at P&T that patience is a virtue, as he is already ready to trade Melo for a box of rocks. SMH, he’s still one of the better players in the league. it will get better, and a bad start to the season does not negate the fact that when he’s on, we have one of the more unstoppable players in the league. so, we’ll see.
but do your thing over here, i’ll be rooting for you guys no matter what, take good care of Gallo and Mozzy. and for God’s sake, will someone tell GK to let Faried get some burn!
always great to see nice civility between fans of teams.
i would have been, not happy, but accepting of a loss tonight since the knicks played probably one of their best games of the year. wish you guys the best of luck and hope b diddy helps a lot
Beyond my wildest dreams. What a win for our Nuggets! We tried at some points to give it away, but the Knicks couldn’t take advantage. What a stupendous night for the former Knicks: Gallo with 37, Moz with a nice long run and good scoring, and MR. BUCKETS!
Melo looked like he could cry on several occasions, and I wouldn’t have blamed him. It was kind of a blast to see him heat up and make things tough on the Nuggets—and then to see it come to nothing.
While I’m at it here, the Nuggets’ worst enemy is their poor offensive execution. We see a lot of talk about how great defense sparks a team’s offense. But what we don’t see much is analysis of how poor offensive execution facilitates the other team’s offense. That was on display tonight way too much at critical times in the game.
Finally, the Knicks can’t go forward without firing D"Antoni. They have too much talent there to have things look so damn random. Stoudemire did not take a shot in the fourth quarter, and I don’t think he had an attempt in the first OT period. That team is so badly out of sync, and they deserve better than D’Antoni.
but Carmelo Anthony is a terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE fit for Mikes system, which preaches passing and finding the open man. That still doesn’t take away from his lack of preach for defense, because it doesn’t but his ability as an offensive guru can’t be taken away from him.
He’s a great player with a big ego. I have no animosity towards Melo. He did us a huge favor by leaving and allowing us to become a deep balanced team, with speed, passing, and flow, which can take injuries and keep winning.
He might have made a big mistake, a la Stephen Marbury, who also had big dreams. The NY Media can eat you up piece by piece. If you choose a team, you better choose one that has an FO that knows how to win. The Knicks last put together a contender with names like Ewing, Starks, and Oakley, and that team couldn’t get over. They have a very road ahead. That’s for sure.
but how friggin clutch was Nene making those free throws? 0-4 to start his free throwing sucking and then, all of a sudden the grace of the Flying Spaghetti Monster blessed him two swishy swish free throws.
We saw tonight why Brewer is not a night in night out option
he just can’t dribble well enough to play either wing position for extended minutes unless the Nuggets run absolutely no halfcourt. So I’d gladly give Wilson those minutes.
the first half suckage was just for dramatic flair for their new ESPN documentary, that is all.. we will come back in dramatic fashion.
When we were down at half-time, I didn’t mean double overtime with Melo buzzer beaters, Andre Miller shooting crazy 3’s and Nene free throws deciding the game.
Vicki and I just got home. What a GREAT time at Jake’s tonight. So many great Nuggets fans! Great drinks and great food! We drove up from Littleton, but it was more than worth the drive! Thanks Andrew for throwing a wondeful evening, topped off of course with a sweet dot win!
but not big enough in my opinion, the crowd was extremely alive as always, and everytime denver scored the air was really let out of the building. it was also weird for me cuz it was the first time I had been to the garden since the trade and it was odd rooting for the opposing team. Also at one point near the end of the 2nd OT when it was obvious the game was over the knicks fans sitting behind the baselines started chanting lets go nuggets. It was amazing
Sat in the corner on the right side of the big screen, had a great time seeing familiar faces and meeting and watching with fellow Thornton area boys Brandon and Kevin, we want to start a watch group up north, so anyone up in Thornton, Northglenn, Broomfield, Westy, etc. hit us up. Time to get a new projector though Andy, hopefully tonights proceeds will help that fund ;) Shout out to Russcot to who we bonded with towards the end. We definitely need name tags.
I think Gallo, Lawson, even Nene should sit out the Kings game… I think we can afford to lose that one, we need to have all these guys rested up after that road trip.
i would think they have enough time to rest, but may need to limit their minutes and hope Afflalo and Rudy are healthier to pick up the slack. If Afllalo was in tonight, I doubt Knicks would have been close in this game as he could’ve slowed down everyone not named Melo, Amare, or Chandler.
Well...
Its time to PANKNICK!
Signed,
Happy in Denver.

TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
I hope Moz didn't sit at the end because he re-injured his back.
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
pretty sure that had more to do with Harrington being awesome at the end
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
that he was,
he looked early 20’s rather than early 30’s
THE MMA TRAINING HAS WORKED!
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
Al's game should age OK
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Moz is good
But even if he is really good. I don’t want him closing.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
yeah he'd be a foul magnet in the last 5 minutes
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
best point differential in the west too
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Oh, I know.
I was going to check how many games back we were of OKC, but then realized I didn’t really care after this win.
Agaliarept - January 21, 2012
if it werent for those 2 freak losses
we would be no. 1
Japheth:the.other.kind.of.asian. - January 21, 2012
If it weren't for the 5 losses
We would be undefeated…
Just kidding with ya… I actually agree… the NO loss really sits bad with me.
JasonHoch - January 21, 2012
alright john madden
crreid4444 - January 21, 2012
Finally Mozgov gets to play 30 minutes!
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
he's getting better by the game
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
I thought this was his best game and we should've gotten the ball to him more.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
I was definitely worried for most of the game. I thought Al looked off & we need him (how weird is it to say that?)
rph80 - January 21, 2012
totally. Nugs need his ability to create shot.
he’s the new JR!
zeebee29 - January 21, 2012
Gallinari can create his own FTs
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
boy, did he bait the refs into some bad calls in the 2OT
with that head jerking backwards move of his
zeebee29 - January 21, 2012
But his points can come in meaningful situations. I kinda thought JR was like A-Rod, tons of homers in games that don't matter
rph80 - January 21, 2012
wouldn't be stunned
if D’Antoni is fired soon. Very soon. Tomorrow is probably way too obvious, but maybe in a week if they keep losing
zeebee29 - January 21, 2012
New York had a good effort tonight
I wouldn’t have been surprised if they pulled it out somehow. Got to admire their heart.
But the best team won.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I thought Fields looked really good.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
And Schumpert
That rookie’s got game, yo.
And Melo was Melo. Chucking up shots but keeping ’em close. Props to him.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Agreed. I was worried about him before the game.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
he's a terrible fit for that team right now
why have D’Antoni coaching a largely front-court oriented iso-ball team? He excels with pick and rolls which require outstanding guard play. Yes, better than Baron Davis.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
When Steve Nash goes to New York
It will be a match made in heaven.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I don't like this. I like Nash, but can he transform a black hole by himself?
rph80 - January 21, 2012
It is when Nash has arguably the best decision making in the NBA.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
yeah Melo and Nash are a bad match
but it would still be a good team, they were a lot better than this when they had Billups at the end of last year.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Nash is a good pick & roll & ball dominating PG. Melo needs isolation.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
yeah, the synergy wouldn't be very good
but they’d still be a lot better (of course this all assumes Nash continues to produce like a freak at 38 years old). Also you have to limit Nash’s workload, so that’s a bit of a problem
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Thing is Nash’s decision making will negate some Melo Ball.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Steve Nash at 37
Has done an amazing job of outrunning his age.
But when it finally catches up to him, look out.
Come to think of it, John Stockton was good until he retired at 41?
You can’t play D on the young guys at 37, but Nash never was any good at Defense.
Nuggburg - January 22, 2012
is it unfair to fire dantoni
if he didn’t ask for any of those players, b/c he knew they weren’t going to work in his system. it’s dolan’s fault
Squito - January 21, 2012
sure but he knew what he was signing on to
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
that's true, going to NYK is the ultimate pressure cooker
Squito - January 21, 2012
Evidenced by the crowd booing Melo already. Although I think they're educated basketball fans
rph80 - January 21, 2012
yeah it sucks to be him
but he asked for it. and his desire to get paid and go there is part of the reason their team isn’t deep
Squito - January 21, 2012
I think most people said before the trade that if he really wanted to win he'd stay in Den
rph80 - January 21, 2012
with all the crap about the NY fans being such a draw for players
sure funny how they turn on the team in a very winnable game.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Maybe they want to see a team game.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
I think they'd be fine with it if they were winning
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Isn't that the point? Two "superstars" that don't facilitate a team game doesn't = winning.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
yeah those two are an awful fit
and also they are borderline “superstars.” Definitely in the 10-20 range as opposed to top 10 players.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Either one would be ok with a good PG, but together...just not enough balls to go around.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
sucks to be dantoni
i think he’s going to get fired when most people said amare and melo wouldn’t work
Squito - January 21, 2012
they should trade Melo for Deron + sweetener
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Ha, he ends up in NJ regardless.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
would love to see one of the stars get traded for the sake of a better fit. A trade sending Dwight to Miami for either LeBron or both Bosh and Wade would be similarly hilarious.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
I'd like to see players not be able to dictate where they go.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
yeah
melo was a jerk but the Nuggets got a lot of players and he got more money, so everyone won except the Knicks.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
they got all those expiring deals to try to get "superstars"
D’Antoni knew it wasn’t going to be “players who fit with the pick and roll.”
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Just got back from Stiffs Night
What a game!
What a lot of fun!
What’s kicking?
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Our Heart rate!!
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Seriously!
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
Okay,
so who kept hitting the button?
Agaliarept - January 21, 2012
What button?
The hardest button to button?
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
The Buffalo Wild Wings Overtime Button.
BWWOB.
Agaliarept - January 21, 2012
The Buffalo Wild Wings Button. We knew one of you pressed it.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Twice.
Agaliarept - January 21, 2012
Oh goodness!
You two are too cewt!
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
i bet you didn't know but portland and spurs lost tonight
more room for us in the 2 seed
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
I did not
I did just learn that Kevin Love is projected to fail to get his first triple double of the season. That’s big news!
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Game thread
Rivaled that of the classic “quitters” thread vs OKC. It was just… Incredible.
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
If I get bored later
I might go check it out. Impressed that there were so many effing posts when Jake’s was so crowded. How many people were posting from their phones?
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
i thought i saw you in the game thread...
moonchild808 - January 21, 2012
Maybe early on
I left late, too. But I live 10 minutes away from Jake’s.
Besides. I have witnesses.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Why didn't K2 play tonight?
Why no Bird flying tonight?
Why do I even care right now!
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
Karl always has tight rotations
Especially in big games / playoffs. Not surprised here at all.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Bird can't be thrilled about this
Nuggburg - January 21, 2012
I'll take his sulking
If it means a win.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
That's an assumption
Maybe if George expanded the rotation
We win in regulation with fresh legs
Nuggburg - January 21, 2012
I was debating this in my head
Can’t argue with a win, but I still wish any of the following got at least FIVE MINUTES of burn: Julyan Stone, KK, Bird, Faried.
Missing Lynx - January 22, 2012
Dear god FSU better be in the bracket.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
I was really surprised by the pre-game interview with Melo
He admitted to having second thoughts about leaving Denver. .. interesting.
ACEIII - January 21, 2012
he can come back for minimum contract and come off the bench if he wants
Danteslion - January 21, 2012
b.s. I bet some public relations guy scripted that
All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
Maybe NY wasn’t all that it was supposed to be. Who saw that coming.
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
He said he was surprised by how much he missed a lot of the staff, teammates and people in Denver
Even said he was fine with GK.
ACEIII - January 21, 2012
I can't wait to see how this plays in NYC
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
NY media
Will have a field day with those quotes.
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
I think Karl likes riding Gallo!
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
Umm. . that is close to gay porn...
ACEIII - January 21, 2012
I bet they're hiking a mountain...
BROK-nevermind.
Agaliarept - January 21, 2012
NTTIAWTT
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
so carl love riding c... oh wait.
Japheth:the.other.kind.of.asian. - January 21, 2012
hahahaha
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
So wrong. so so wrong
moondoggie12 - January 21, 2012
lol
Danteslion - January 21, 2012
Can't Blame him (Mancrush)
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Stiffs night out was fun.
Nice to meet combatchuk and fly Agaric
The U.N. Fab Five - January 21, 2012
exactly what you thought they'd be in person?
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
But even more awesome
with the added third dimension.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
We are all basketball junkies
And that’s all that mattered
The U.N. Fab Five - January 21, 2012
Exactly
It was definitely a cool group of people to watch the game with.
And Andrew was an awesome host / MC.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Still think the screen name name tag thing would have been good
The U.N. Fab Five - January 21, 2012
It would have been cool to put more names with faces
I really didn’t get to meet anyone beyond my table. But my table was packed with cool Stiffs, so I got my money’s worth.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I was there - someone forgot the tags
“won’t name names” :p
Missing Lynx - January 22, 2012
I met Combat Chuck but I didn't think I met you...
Or did I?
Missing Lynx - January 22, 2012
I don't think so. When I met the 2 of them, I was walking to my table and CC said hi. I was sitting by the bar in the left corner.
The U.N. Fab Five - January 22, 2012 via mobile
EVERYONE PARTY!
CloudBurst - January 21, 2012
When Al hit that trey to ice it
Jake’s went nuts.
Y’all should of been there.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
pictures or it didnt happen.
Japheth:the.other.kind.of.asian. - January 21, 2012
Someone was taking pictures.
Not me.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Vicki's husband was
The U.N. Fab Five - January 21, 2012
pictures
lots of good ones. files are being uploaded for Andy/Nate right now.
Russell Ray - January 22, 2012
Rule 32.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Speaking of gay porn...
ACEIII - January 21, 2012
The scene at Jake's, 01/21/12.
Agaliarept - January 21, 2012
We really are a boy band….
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
haha. if you look closely.
moondoggie12 - January 21, 2012
Since I clearly missed the first-go-around on this .gif...
What’s the story? Because it’s fantastic.
neumdaddy - January 21, 2012
thats created from a video on the Nuggets website of the team dancing in the weightroom
they like to dance.
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
If this crew ever wins a 'ship
I’m photo shopping an NBA championship trophy into the center of this GIF.
Missing Lynx - January 22, 2012
Pathetic fact of the night:
Knicks still qualify for the playoffs in the east with a 6-10 record
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
You mean the "Leastern" conference right?
The U.N. Fab Five - January 21, 2012
People keep saying the East is getting better
I just don’t see it.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
The West (and Northwest especially) is top loaded.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
without a superstar
All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
Seriously.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
Pacers, Sixers, Cavs all getting better.
But on the flip side Knicks, Boston getting worse.
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
you think cavs getting better....
average teams get their records inflated with tons of games against crappy east teams
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
YES! The East has several teams with records better than Den, but I think it's b/c they get to play against the East.
Den now 7-0 vs. the East, if I’m not mistaken.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
Cavs
Are a better team now then last season though.
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
And are only gonna keep getting better.
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
seriously wouldn't suprise me if the first 5 lotto picks this year all go east
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
You know what?
The T-Wolves would get the 6-7th seed if they played in the East. No joke.
Missing Lynx - January 22, 2012
Ewww...
Missing Lynx - January 22, 2012
Now:
How crazy was that desperation 3 Andre hit in the first overtime? That’s the game-changer right there. No OT2 without that. My man Dre was balling tonight. Crazy shot.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
He doesn't always make 3s , but when he does
they are late in the shot clock and a mile away
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
we need a youtube of the most interesting man in the nba
andre miller
Squito - January 21, 2012
It was the most beautiful shot of the season
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
I thought we played like poo...
… and still won on the road. Sign of a good team? How did we ever lose to NO.
margabelle - January 21, 2012
bad losses are part of the NBA but the Nugs showed serious determination on this road trip
river-z - January 21, 2012
1 more to go!
rph80 - January 21, 2012
4th game in 5 nights on the east coast on a road trip
and we won them all and beat a slightly below mediocre Knicks team. I wouldn’t say that as playing like poo, we played as good as a team could play under that kind of work load in a short amount of time.
Three day break guys, you deserve it!
CloudBurst - January 21, 2012
Exactly. Able to overcome late arrival, tired legs, not playing the best and win on the road. Sign of a good team.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
My comment was meant as a positive...
We don’t need to play our best to win tough games. We just find a way.
margabelle - January 21, 2012
Sup stiffs
I have a blast at Stiffs night out
Sat with a Lurker, Missing Lynx, BeefySeats, Fly Agaric
So the Nuggets are pretty good aren’t they?
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
BeefySeats??? LOL
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
hahahahaha
BeefySwats*
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
Any Stiffs win the tickets?
Any celebrity appearances?
margabelle - January 21, 2012
Yeah, Give us all the Gossip
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
No celeb appearances (Unless you count some radio show hosts like Naturo)
As far as I could tell, no regular stiffs won the tickets,
There must be a shit ton of lurkers here
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
A shit ton.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
How much is a
shit ton exactly?
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
60-70 lurkers
to about 8 established stiffs lol
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
about the same number as shots missed by Melo
margabelle - January 21, 2012
hahahhaa
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
a ton is a ton no matter what it's made of
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
Metric butt ton disagrees
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
if you want to make shit up
ha play on words
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
One Deron Williams.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Place was packed 10 minutes before tip-off
And people kept showing up. They are scrambling to move pool tables and set up folding tables.
I didn’t do a head count, but it was a lot. And then you have to figure that there was a lot of posting in the game thread considering all the Stiffs otherwise occupied.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I think a Shit Ton is just a little bit less than a metric buttload
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
oh and I met UN Nugget Nation too
“formerly GaryForbesagentzero”
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
UN Fab Five
But ya I was there with my cuz and new stiffs poster chaunceysyoungestfan. That game was insane but Jakes was even crazier. I don’t know what the occupancy compacity is for Jakes but it probably a good thing the fire Marshall didn’t swing by because it was standing room only. Great night. Have to have one at a home game and do something likes “melo’s yellows” used to do with sitting together and have stiffs shirts.
The U.N. Fab Five - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Yeah we want the scoop
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
So what was the reaction with Dre’s Trey?
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Cheering and clapping and high fives.
But BeefySwats left me hanging on that one.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
Tyson Chandler was their stud tonight...
It’s not a coincidence we won after he fouled out.
margabelle - January 21, 2012
As usual, he played really well defensively and caused a # of TOs
rph80 - January 21, 2012
nene didn't like shooting against him
Squito - January 21, 2012
You're so right. He also had some decent blocks in the low post.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
Mozgov is a beast....
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
he had a hell of a game
16points 8 rebounds 3 blocks
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
Hoping this becomes a regular sentiment
Nuggburg - January 21, 2012
what a game
went out to stiffs night didnt meet anyone but still had a great time the place erupted when dre hit that three
Chaunceysyoungestfan - January 21, 2012
Welcome to Denver Stiffs
Sorry we missed you tonight.
I feel bad. I like to meet people. It gives them something to tell their kids when they are older.
I’m kind of a big deal.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
glad to be here
my cousin has been bothering me to get on here for at least a year and i finally did looks like a great place
Chaunceysyoungestfan - January 21, 2012

SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
This happened seconds after the DVR of the game for me expired
I can only imagine… I did at least see it on ESPN highlights.
neumdaddy - January 21, 2012
Anyone else think back to the Game in Por last year when Gallo had 30, but couldn't close. Seems to me that he's maturing into an ability to close games.
rph80 - January 21, 2012
gallo was great but Dre and Al were too. this was such a great team win
river-z - January 21, 2012
And Nene, too
Had some big rebounds at the end and finally made some free throws with the game on the line.
Yay!
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
That was WTF in the good sense
I thought for certain that was game over when he was fouled. LOL
margabelle - January 21, 2012
that's what we need
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
the Defense at the end was fantastic too.
Japheth:the.other.kind.of.asian. - January 21, 2012
So I guess Denver won the trade... no?
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
Nah.
We got Killed.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
nope... and remember we don't even have wilson chandler yet... crazy
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
We also have the draft picks of the trade
we can continue to go up, while the Knicks will likely improve the sealing of the player they got has been reached.
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
great team win
sad i couldnt watch but followed on espn. got yelled at by the fiance for yelling when big al hit the dagger 3. saw the replay of dre’s rediculous 3. great team win. enjoying the 4-0 eastern road trip and 3 tough wins in a row.

All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
Do you suppose Melo regrets getting traded to NYC?
Or is he happy to get his money and being with his friends?
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
Too busy expanding his brand.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
i thought he was going to get more wins?

Good night everyone. Awesome game!
rph80 - January 21, 2012
sup Stiffs
just your resident Knick fan here checking to say good game, it was a heartbreaker for me, but not anywhere near one of our bad losses. that’s a loss i can take. the one to the Bucks last night? no way.
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
Knicks showed a lot of heart
And props to Melo for stepping up at the end. Man, it would have been brutal for us nuggets fans if he connected on those final shots.
Good luck the rest of the way.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
yeah i love him and the trade still
and you love when he hits the big shots, but you scratch your head when he dribbles into a double team and doesn’t make the obvious pass. it’s like he says ’it’s my team and i’ma put them on my shoulders’ but you’re playing right into the other teams hands by doing so.
do we play you guys again or was this it for the season? i know it’s an unbalanced skedge, altho the NBA would be fools not to have Melo come back to where it started.
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
That's it for this year
I’ll be in the minority, but I’ll clap for Melo when he comes back to Denver.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
i think you and Cat will be the only ones
but as a few said, Melo is the cause of this nicely laid out team you have. so if you look at it like that, he should get a 10 min. standing ovation! heheh
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
Not only that
But I remember how the Nuggets were nothing in the early ’00s until he was drafted and the team’s been in the playoffs ever since.
Sure, I got my issues with Melo’s game, but I have nothing bad to say about him as a person. I just hope he knows that not everyone in Denver is all bitter. Sure, I didn’t like the last half season, but I remember seven good ones before than and one great one.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
i'm gonna rec you on that comment man
i hate what have you done for me lately people. i just told someone at P&T that patience is a virtue, as he is already ready to trade Melo for a box of rocks. SMH, he’s still one of the better players in the league. it will get better, and a bad start to the season does not negate the fact that when he’s on, we have one of the more unstoppable players in the league. so, we’ll see.
but do your thing over here, i’ll be rooting for you guys no matter what, take good care of Gallo and Mozzy. and for God’s sake, will someone tell GK to let Faried get some burn!
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
Oh,
We’re telling him. A Twitter barrage by some Stiffs netted a fairly prompt response.
Cheers.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
always great to see nice civility between fans of teams.
i would have been, not happy, but accepting of a loss tonight since the knicks played probably one of their best games of the year. wish you guys the best of luck and hope b diddy helps a lot
swmrkev - January 21, 2012
thanks, same here
wilddre22 - January 22, 2012
Epic. Heartstopping. Payback.
LongWindedHank - January 21, 2012
Not only that
but Carmelo Anthony is a terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE fit for Mikes system, which preaches passing and finding the open man. That still doesn’t take away from his lack of preach for defense, because it doesn’t but his ability as an offensive guru can’t be taken away from him.
CloudBurst - January 21, 2012
I guess, but that Knicks team is dead in the water
I know the guy has coached high-powered offenses, but that doesn’t nearly always cut it in the NBA. His record in the playoffs is the proof, isn’t it?
And that team was not making offensive sense tonight. See above re: Stoudemire, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
LongWindedHank - January 22, 2012
Harrelson fractured his wrist at some point tonight
did anyone notice? I had no clue, I thought he was out there in OT
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
Poor Jorts.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
just heard that
he’s one of our bright spots…oh well, next guy up.
hey, i’m a Giants and Mets fan. I’m used to injuries at this point.
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
Oh boo hoo Giants!!! :)
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
what, i was rooting for the Broncos! hehe
you don’t really wanna see the Harborough ball do you? or even worse pretty boy Brady with another ring.
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
I mean, no reason to whine
they are playing tomorrow aren’t they?
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
trust me i wasn't whining about my boys
just pointing out that all the teams i love know injury like its a relative.
wilddre22 - January 21, 2012
Can someone provide a take on Karl's tight rotation?
How did it impact the Nuggets’ play? I’m not good at that stuff, and I have no idea even how to speculate at Karl’s motivations.
LongWindedHank - January 21, 2012
Injuries had a lot to do with it
That’s all I can speculate beyond what we all know.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
yes I would imagine Karl would have used AAA and Rudy both tonight if he could...
Still baffled as to why no Bird and no KK
All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
Doubt Bird and KK would have added much tonight
KK looked pretty terrible against Wsh and Moz was on his game.
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
He doesn't trust either... kofous isn't that good
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
Koufos = Doufos
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
Why on Gods Green Earth would this Knicks team amnesty Chauncey Billups?
They would probably be 10-6 instead of 6-10 right now.
All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
When he has a tight rotation they have played good.... screw bird he sucks
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
Knicks hoped that Chandler's defense would compensate for Melo's and Stat's efense
(Yes I purposely left out the D)
CombatChuk - January 21, 2012
they also thought baron could give them 75% of Chauncey’s production at no cost.

or at least he did tonight, I won’t act as if I have any idea how he has played otherwise this season
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
I barely noticed him out there
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
No shots after the 3rd until his late 3
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
Honesty About Carmelo Anthony
Nuggburg - January 21, 2012
98-99 Knicks made the finals with Ewing, Camby, Sprewell
All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
Good point
But the current FO has done very little.
Nuggburg - January 21, 2012
Didn't Mark Wark join the Knicks FO?
In some sort of role??

5baker5 - January 21, 2012
melo, "how come I suck now"
TyLawesome - January 21, 2012
Cuz you're not breathing the Rocky Mountain air anymore "smells"
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
There was a lot of clutch in that game
but how friggin clutch was Nene making those free throws? 0-4 to start his free throwing sucking and then, all of a sudden the grace of the Flying Spaghetti Monster blessed him two swishy swish free throws.
Unbelievable.
CloudBurst - January 21, 2012
Pretty ace,
right there. Oh man, was I nervous.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
He definitely earned some of his salary right there...
All Day Jay - January 21, 2012
To be honest... i didnt have much faith
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
yeah, me neither
I was telling Chuk that he should at least make the first one so that the Nuggets would at least have a chance to win with a rebound / put-back.
Glad it didn’t come to that.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I was hoping for an O rebound on the 2nd miss
Phil H. - January 21, 2012
MAN I really wonder what JR, KMART and ILL WILL think about this WIN!!??
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
could have used one of JR or ill will tonight
running gallo for 52 minutes is suboptimal.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Especially since the man
has a bum heel.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I feel like Al is supplying the "crazy points off the bench role" that JR gave us
srsly hard to know whose minutes to cut if any of these dudes came back
river-z - January 21, 2012
We saw tonight why Brewer is not a night in night out option
he just can’t dribble well enough to play either wing position for extended minutes unless the Nuggets run absolutely no halfcourt. So I’d gladly give Wilson those minutes.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
yeah that's true, but Brewer doesn't get as many minutes as Chandler ought to get
river-z - January 21, 2012
Was just thinking that.
Does this encourage them to perhaps sign with us if they see we have a great team?
stan_26 - January 21, 2012 via iPhone app
JR: This Schezuan is the sh*t.
K-Mart: Mark, if you don’t give me 10 mil on my contract, I’ll whip your ass.
ILL WIL: Me Gusta.
Kevin L - January 21, 2012
Do you think they were watching???
5baker5 - January 21, 2012

Anyone who is remotely interested in the NBA and had the chance was watching this game.
And it was a great game. Sure, I would have preferred a blowout. But. Whatever.

5baker5 - January 21, 2012
Man when I said..
When we were down at half-time, I didn’t mean double overtime with Melo buzzer beaters, Andre Miller shooting crazy 3’s and Nene free throws deciding the game.
CloudBurst - January 21, 2012
you didn't?
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
Still
I’m impressed you called it.
And just generally glad for a fun, exciting game with a decent result.

Vicki and I just got home. What a GREAT time at Jake’s tonight. So many great Nuggets fans! Great drinks and great food! We drove up from Littleton, but it was more than worth the drive! Thanks Andrew for throwing a wondeful evening, topped off of course with a sweet dot win!

the greatest sporting event I have ever witnessed in person. stayed for both OT’s too

Jealous
Bet you liked seeing Gallo have a career night.
Congrats. Tell us more about the atmosphere at the Garden, etc.
Fly Agaric - January 21, 2012
I hate the backround noises of MSG made me want to mute the tv
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
Gallo got a nice ovation at the start
but not big enough in my opinion, the crowd was extremely alive as always, and everytime denver scored the air was really let out of the building. it was also weird for me cuz it was the first time I had been to the garden since the trade and it was odd rooting for the opposing team. Also at one point near the end of the 2nd OT when it was obvious the game was over the knicks fans sitting behind the baselines started chanting lets go nuggets. It was amazing
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 21, 2012
from Posting and Toasting
Josh Harrellson fractured his wrist, needs surgery.
InboundingLobPass - January 21, 2012
Wow: Four Nuggets with double-doubles
A couple were pretty close.
Love this team. Except when they make me mad losing to the effing Hornets.

Great time at Stiffs Night Out!
We definitely need name tags.
jd80229 - January 21, 2012
Just got home, 'twas great meeting you!
Russscot - January 21, 2012
Gallo>Tebow
I hope I can officially state it now without public ridicule
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 21, 2012
at playing their respective sports? no doubt.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
Tebow now makes all Denver teams players better just by his presence in town
except for Nuggets the day after Bronco playoff games…don’t need to worry about that anymore I guess ;)
jd80229 - January 21, 2012
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
SDcat09 - January 21, 2012
He also has better taste in music as noted by the above video and Tebow’s appearance at a Brad Paisley concert :P

Nuggburg - January 21, 2012 via mobile
they look like a good road team... good to see... makings of an elite team
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
Nuggets did a lot of rest though
I think Gallo, Lawson, even Nene should sit out the Kings game… I think we can afford to lose that one, we need to have all these guys rested up after that road trip.
CloudBurst - January 21, 2012

CloudBurst - January 21, 2012
we have 4 days off i think were fine
5baker5 - January 21, 2012
maybe kouf and faried get some burn
against the weaker kings, although they are playing better since k. smart took over
Squito - January 21, 2012
we'll have to watch those boards
Cousins is a monster. Best way to combat that is just to keep his fat ass running up and down the court so he’s not in position.
atomiccafe - January 21, 2012
isn't the next game Wednesday?
i would think they have enough time to rest, but may need to limit their minutes and hope Afflalo and Rudy are healthier to pick up the slack. If Afllalo was in tonight, I doubt Knicks would have been close in this game as he could’ve slowed down everyone not named Melo, Amare, or Chandler.
jd80229 - January 21, 2012
+1
the Miller, Lawson lineup just looked awkward tonight. I think effected Lawson a little bit.
JustGotStiff'd - January 21, 2012 via Android app
lawson was pretty bad,
but the pass to al for the corner 3 at the end of 2ot was key. he missed too many FTs and was 0-4 from deep
