Despite Danilo Gallinari's horrific 0-7 (0-4) performance (6-6 on free throws for 6 points) in tonight's first half, the Nuggets are still up 49-37 on the offensive woeful Memphis Grizzlies (no Grizz player is in double figures yet). Nene is leading the way for Denver with 11 points on 5-7 shooting and 5 rebounds, but he also has 3 fouls. Post your second half comments here ...

I hope Gallo figures out a way to hit a shot tonight, perhaps stop with the fadeaways from 18 feet?
Nate Timmons - January 31, 2012
My hero!
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
That's the thing with Gallo
He’s not super consistent. He has a bad night for every three good ones. But he always seems to come back with a great game the next night.
I don’t expect to see Gallo take any more shots. When it wasn’t falling for him in Philly, he just passed the ball to the hot hand, which was Andre Miller.
Nothing to be concerned about.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
i think
he should just drive on his off nights looking to pass, he was a PG growing up and it sorta shows sometimes??
nugznazty - January 31, 2012
At least he does other things when not playing well on the O
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Like grab boards dish out dimes and play defense
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
he should take many more shots
just not jump shots
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
Yes, I would like to see him start driving the lane. He's settling.
He had Gasol on him on the perimeter and opted for the easy fadeaway … gotta keep on the hustle to the paint!
Nate Timmons - January 31, 2012
did anyone send
Perkins a care package after last night??

Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Nene pass disagrees
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Yeah, but he's not a center--why not put him in for someone else...
…maybe move Al to 3 and put Nene in at 4?
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Especially since M. Gasol _is_ a real center, and both taller and stronger than Nene
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Marc Gasol is a bigger man than Pau
the new Bradfather - January 31, 2012

RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012

oldcoachB - January 31, 2012
Tell 'em
I’m in charge here.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Already feels like a loss
it would be a miracle to have them win
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
How are we going to find the energy to win?
sgiustra - January 31, 2012
oh I don't know...
maybe bring in fresh legs off the bench… maybe some one who also just happened to sit out the entire 4th quarter?
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
Put Gallo in?
Oh wait, that’s just crazy. That’s what they want us to do…
MohrPlease - January 31, 2012
That wasn't even a play
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
fuck man
Obviously Karl called a play to be run, Millertried to find a man, couldnt, then shot with a great look. Nothing wrong there
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Karl almost always calls an isolation
And yes, of course it was a play. You need to learn how to comprehend hyperbole.
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
second game in a row, same crap.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
FT shooting in the fourth is why we're in OT
Russscot - January 31, 2012
George Karl again
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
lol
Russscot - January 31, 2012
gallo's why we are

sgiustra - January 31, 2012
I sure hope our players don't have the same attitude as you posters
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Gallo has to play in OT
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
yeah. cause hes suddenly going to shoot well. 1-10 from the field.
Japheth:the.other.kind.of.asian. - January 31, 2012
Thanks to your mentality, we lost the game.
Gallo had 8 points on 10 shots. That kind of “inefficiency” doesn’t mean you bench your player.
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Should have won but in OT on the road
against a decent opponent. Let’s win it now.
NC Gold - January 31, 2012
Lawler's Law is still in play
get 100 points first and throw caution to the wind
the new Bradfather - January 31, 2012
I'm thinking Gallo might be injured?
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
¡silence!
MohrPlease - January 31, 2012
Well that might account for why he's not playing
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
that's GK's only excuse at this point
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
his excuse is gallos abysmal shooting.
Japheth:the.other.kind.of.asian. - January 31, 2012

Russscot - January 31, 2012

DeezNuggs - January 31, 2012

SDcat09 - January 31, 2012

Phil H. - January 31, 2012
I remember that Golden Nugget guy was saying Lawson was the future of this team

georgekarl - January 31, 2012
I remember that, too.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I wasn't trigger happy to amnesty Al, and I will hold to that.
AAA needs ride some pine and get himself in gear. Dude obviously did jack over the lockout, and I don’t care what he said on twitter.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Agree
I think he needs a wake up call, but he’ll be alright eventually
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
HOW THE FUCK DID THIS HAPPEN
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
is it really a mystery?
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
If Gallo had been in this game in the fourth, you're right that there wouldn't have been OT...
…and dead wrong about why
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Rebounding
Clutch free throw shooting, AAA folding
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
clearly you didn't watch the knicks or raptors game
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
well...
look at that line-up puts out there.
AAA, Nene, Miller, Lawson, Harrington
A freaking 3 guard line-up + AAA who hasn’t done anything this season
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
Testicles.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
The good news is
My level 12 hunter just killed a clan of harpys and got a Barbaric Battle Axe of The Wolf 53-81 damage
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
that is good news!

SD_Nugget_Fan - January 31, 2012

Guys played 24 MIN all game
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Dog house he would be in mine as well. and I coached 25 years
oldcoachB - January 31, 2012
So you will punish a guy for having a bad game?
Not taking bad shots, not forcing, playing within the offense, helping the team in other ways just not hitting shots. Isn’t the rule that shooters shoot? I know Karl knows more than me, and I am sure you do too. But at the end of the day this is the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
brettden - January 31, 2012
That's what I'm thinking
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Its not over
but the Nuggets looked like they gave up a long time ago
CloudBurst - January 31, 2012
why are we playing like such pussies? SO SOFT.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
if we hit fts down the stretch we win
if we play a shred of defense in the 4th we win. If we execute a routine fast break we win. If we get a rebound or two we win. total implosion.
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
I'll say it again: best player should be on the court regardless
1. Gallo is a fine defender
2. Gallo hasn’t been shooting well and has limited his shots accordingly
3. A player like Gallo shifts the attention of the defense every time
4. Gallo can still penetrate and has been money on his FT’s
5. Gallo knows how to contribute without out shooting
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
if tonight was the end of the season yes
oldcoachB - January 31, 2012
Also a THREE GUARD line-up
should never close out a freaking game
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
Amen. But no matter how many times his idiotic small ball line ups fail he refuses to acknowledge it and do anything different. He’ll just keep doing it.
There is a reason this guy has never won a championship and if the front office is smart, they’ll send him packing.

Russscot - January 31, 2012

THANKS GK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
See you Thursday in LA
NC Gold - January 31, 2012
Well that is a tough loss
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Meh, we were due.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Oh I agree
But we could have won it…
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
for two in a row?
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
bad news
these types of losses give other teams confidence, makes it harder to close out.
brettden - January 31, 2012
Yes.
We haven’t had a 2 game losing streak as long as I can remember.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
You have to go back a whole of 16 games
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
That’s a whole NFL season there!!
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Fukin Fernandez
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
It was a good look...just couldn't make it
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
We had two closers and traded them both.
Whatchagonna do?
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Yep.
We got killed in that trade.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
You're right
we could have a team without Melo and Gallo right now, that would have been much better
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Or without Gallo and Chauncey
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Yes, even better
without Gallo, Chauncey and Melo. We’d be great!
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
We could still get rid of some players and get dwight howard, kevin garnet and andrew bynum
we will start those three guys, mozgov and lawson.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Reality
I would like you to meet it
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
and maybe lebron too
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
South Beach!!
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
that's a shame
sorry guys, thanks for having me good night
the new Bradfather - January 31, 2012
See you again soon
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
I still don't get Karl's reason for this line-up
we need a freaking 7 footer in there, AAA should be on the bench, and Miller should stop with this half ass ISO shit
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
Listen to 950 am to find out
George Karl always does a post game interview.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
how depressing
moonchild808 - January 31, 2012
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS SHIT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS TEAM. WE ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
no we are not
Danteslion - January 31, 2012
you may be right
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
yes we are...
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
just a bad game its a shame we had it in the bag
cfact - January 31, 2012
While I hope he's not actually injured...
It is the ONLY thing to justify Karl’s calls tonight
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Aaaaaand sh*t has hit the fan.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
This could be one fucking ugly month
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Well it's technically still Jan ...soooo
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
It's February somewhere
many places actually
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
But not in the Nuggets universe yet
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Well we have 4 guys who come from a country where it is right now
Phil H. - January 31, 2012

CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
I never like George Karl
and I never fucking well. To bad the GM sign him to the billion year contract
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
Its too bad you dont fuck well bud
You’re really missing out
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
what a fucking collapse
the real stranger - January 31, 2012
I think collapse is kind of strong
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
you reply to every single post.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
This was not a collapse
It was a long lingering disaster.
missed 7 free throws
7 of 23 from downtown
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
I forgot to mention the 24 turnovers
Gallo 1 for ten
Nene the invisible man of the 4th quarter.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
No Moz or No Double K late in the game!
and the Nuggets go back to the drawing board…This team better learn to finish teams off or no playoffs!
SD_Nugget_Fan - January 31, 2012
fuck fuck fuck
Dunno what’s happening here.
PANIC!
InboundingLobPass - January 31, 2012 via mobile
This loss can be attributed to not being able to play physical with the Grizz
they pushed us around and since the refs weren’t calling it on either end, we should have realized it and stepped up. Instead, we let them. Settled for jump shots, didn’t box out strong, and didn’t respond on defense.
Russscot - January 31, 2012
Good points all
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
truth
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
Fair
but what can you expect from two PG’s and AAA for the last twenty min. of play
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
I agree in principle,
but the main “culprit” for the Griz was not a big, but rather a 2 guard. Namely, Tony Allen. He’s the one who boxed out Nene, blocked Al, and harrassed both AAA and Dre into to’s.
Russscot - January 31, 2012
even more truth
we can’t be a team that lets one of these tough guys muscle us from winning. We can’t.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
True
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
agree
and sticking with 3 guards and harrington at the 4 did not help even a little bit.
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
They were stonger
because the line-up on the floor was less than 7 ft tall
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
There has to be a reason for this.
I don’t believe GK would not put bigs out there if he could.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Probably because they played soft in the trenches all game.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Koufos was great on Gasol
When a seven footer was in..we controlled the boards
gonugs - January 31, 2012
But against Allen?
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Koufos was guarding Gasol when he was in
gonugs - January 31, 2012
Allen took over when our frontcourt was nene al and AAA
gonugs - January 31, 2012
Up 10 in the fourth..outrebounding the Grizz
Went small…lost
gonugs - January 31, 2012
there is a reason for this
Karl doesnt trust KK and Moz..no matter what they do
gonugs - January 31, 2012
Moz was in foul trouble but at the end of the game, shit who cares.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Koufos
gonugs - January 31, 2012
yeah, the tall one
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
It was when they pulled out an 11 point lead too
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
we can't
blame the lineup tonight as much as the Clippers game. What we saw there was Nene flinging his arms around instead of securing a rebound. we saw tony allen being more physical than whoever it was out there, big or small.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
Missed Fts
allowing Memphis to get into the lane at ease, stopped attacking-reason we lost.
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
I agree completely with the stopped attacking point. That really killed us. We looked intimidated, we backed down, and that always leads to an L
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
Tony Allen dominated
You’d mistake him for Dwight Howard if you didnt look hard enough. Fukin owned us in our own paint. Sad reb. and interior d. I blame this game mostly on that, and the starters playing like garbage. bench kept us in and leading most of the way.
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Miller played a fine game
but when he’s PG we just have no real movement.
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Thats bullshit
Hes the only player who gives us consistently easy looks on offense. Just because Gallo and Affailo cant hit a shot worth a damn, dont be blaming ing it on players who actually played very well
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
He did play good game
Doesn’t mean it translates to a good flow
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Theres nothing wrong with the flow
lawson is push man and Miller is more half court. But Miller pushes all the time when its there leading the FB. Its bullshit to say that
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Half court????
We have NEVER had a half-court game in any year Miller has been with us
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Our starting lineup sucked
And when gallo/Mozzy out our interior defense sucks (not thats its great anyway). the o-rebounding murdered us.
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
we were outrebounding them till the last 5 min of 4th and OT
No 7 footers played those min
gonugs - January 31, 2012
Seeing the 7 footers played a combined 20 minutes
there were plenty other minutes in which they didn’t play that went better
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
-this game was ugly all around
Just saying that Koufos looked great on Gasol when he was in..we got killed on the boards down the stretch and no adjustments were made..
gonugs - January 31, 2012
Karl was outcoached tonight...
Plain n Simple
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Let the kneejerks begin
I’m out. Two tough losses, but I remember we started the season 2-2 and then played some pretty great basketball.
I hope we can get some more execution and imagination in our half court game before playoffs.
Night kids.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
The commentators in Spain have put this loss on Karl
They can´t understand his lineups and lack of substitutions down the stretch….hmmmm
gonugs - January 31, 2012
Wells it's very obvious that the nuggets aren't elite, and they are soft
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Doesn't have anything to do with being "elite"
It’s about coming in hot at the right time.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Um
And finding the hot hands and the lineups with the right chemistry is all about coaching.
And elite teams have it.
I’m a Karl fan. But these last two games have me questioning my faith.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
I'm not talking about that.
I’m saying that the teams coming in hot tend to go far in the brackets.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Nuggets wont win in the playoffs without a halfcourt offense, they dont have one
They go off of fast breaks and playing fast… won’t work in grind it out playoff games
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
But our personnel can grind it out……
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
OK
I think the word missing here is “playoffs”.
Got you. And I agree with that.
Unless I’m wrong about “brackets” = “playoffs”.
Then I will feel pretty silly.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Doesn't matter if they come in hot at the right time, they won't be more physical teams
kmart will be sorely missed mostly because he is tough… those 2 offensive rebounds at the end by memphis? with kmart that wont happen
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Look at Dallas last year.
They’re soft as f*ck (sans Chandler) and they rolled their way to the ship.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
They closed games out
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Not in Brandon Roy’s last stand.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
ok ONE game.. thing is they had a closer we dont
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Yeah, because of that they played with a fire under their bums and rolled with it.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Give up two 10-point
Fourth quarter leads, and I have to agree. Much as this pains me, because it shatters the faith that 5-0 road trip put in me.
Ugh.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
i don't care who is out there
they played soft. No excuse for, center foward or guard, to play like they did. Looked like a bunch of losers out there in the 4th and OT, and guess what, they lost.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
Time for Masai and Josh to make a move
Can’t trade Afflalo until March 1st
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
Why is that?
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
He just signed a contract
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Still the same 'ole Post-Melo nuggets
We don’t have ANYONE to close out the game
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
Well hell what should they have done instead?
crap guys, the team is still building, the big flaw around Nugget land is that the good start has everyone thinking it should be champ or bust this year, not the case. A closer will come from this team eventually
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
The supposed closer (Gallo) sat out the entire 4th quarter and OT
Dre and Fernandez are players I do not want taking the last shot
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
Yesssir
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Yes
Gallo not playing was curious, but I wouldn’t call him a closer yet
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
something was up w/ gallo tonight
so i’ll hold my judgment as to why he didn’t close for us. and I’m actually ok w/ Dre taking the last shot. He’s the only one that seems calm out there, plus his last shot in regulation was a good look.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
dont need to make a move... just need to TOUGHEN UP(NENE)
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Speaking of shattered faith...
Arron, where did you go?
This hurts.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Some players buckle..
last year he had no pressure, now he has to perform
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
That's a good point.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Completely agree
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
Agreed but...
What team will pick up that contract that he currently is not deserving of
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
A team with a ballhog that commands double teams
Since AAA can’t make a shot unless he’s completely wide open
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
It's unfair to only rip AAA
Nene didn’t make any turnovers in the 4th quarter but only because he played outside the paint and ran from the ball.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
so true
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
That's same ole Nene
He’s been doing that for almost 10 years so that’s expected
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
It is
This is a team loss, but I’d rather have Dahntay Jones out there right now than AAA.
We’re playing 5-4 every game.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I liked how the memphis announcers were repeatedly rooting for AAA to get the ball
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
That was harsh IMO
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
LOL
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I thought you weren't replying to my posts anymore
per yesterday.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
No dumb dumb
I had to leave 2 nights ago because I had an exam.
I will still be here to laugh at you every chance I have. Don’t you worry.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
lol
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
I'm asking you to stop.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Can dish it out but you can't take it, huh
Nope.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Sigh….
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
I've never seen Cat mean
Overly sensitive? sure.
But not mean.
You are good people Kevin. Don’t let Cat get you grumpy. She’s pretty small potatoes, really.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Agaric, you are good people and so is Kevin L
So I will stop for you two.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
You have personally insulted me
for the past several game threads. I am asking you to stop doing that.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Get a room you two.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Don't
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
And it just got worse….
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Making a joke
To diffuse the situation gets you nowhere sometimes.
I appreciate the effort, though.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
LOL
Fix your rotations and get off denverstiffs. You have a team to coach.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
It’s ok……
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Womp womp
Don’t start shit.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
The hell happened to stop……
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
word.
done.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
as much as I love AAA
it was the truth
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
I think it's just kinda of sad
that the announcers were saying it the way they were
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
it's embarrassing
that’s what that is. Embarrassing. And Karl left him out there. I don’t think Karl is as much to blame tonight, but AAA needed to be parked on the bench. Why he sticks with players playing like ABSOLUTE shit like AAA tonight and Harrington last game is beyond my comprehension.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
He benched Gallo tonight for his subpar performance
So this is a bit of a mystery.
But AAA does those little things. Like staying in basketball shape, hitting free throws, and not defending like prior years.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
that's a good point
even more puzzling
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
We're assuming that's why he was benched.
We don’t really know
Russscot - January 31, 2012
I think it was the chucking
JR would have got the same bench.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Hanslik was wondering about his back
Russscot - January 31, 2012
Caught that too
BUT HE IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF THIS TEAM!
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
NO WAY MAN
HOW IS HE GOING TO GET BETTER IF WE TRADE HIM OR LET HIM SIT ON THE BENCH?
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
He's not the same, he got paid and now he plays like Masai ran over his puppy
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
I'm mocking all the AAA lovers who were calling me stupid
Only a couple days ago.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
here we go...
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
meaning?
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
meant to reply to combat
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
everyone wants a trade lol
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
I don’t want a trade. I want a team coached by someone who doesn’t have his head perpetually up his derriere and who will admit his idiotic lineup philosophies don’t work and make a change.
BryanM - January 31, 2012
Sorry, three-year contract. Talk to them again in 2015.
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Forcefield time.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
I'm glad that they lost
hopefully this serves as a wakeup call for GK to maybe take a look at his rotations, particularly his crunch time lineups. yeah its never good to put one in the L column but they will still make the playoffs and I’m not sure any progress would be made if they had won
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
You know what will make us tougher
MANIAMAL!!!!!!!!!
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
Nuggets need the emergency alert necklace
Because we have fallen……
And we can’t get up.
Nuggburg - January 31, 2012 via mobile
We're paying Gallo $10.5M/season for this shit. thats embarassing
Fukin terrible ass game
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
If your talking extensions.
At least target AAA.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Nene too
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Exactly...
But in that game he has to be given the oppurtunity to try again. He is our best scorer, though he was playing like shit scorers score. He cant do shit sitting on the bench
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
THANK YOU
I said put Gallo in at the end of the 3rd and got yelled at….that’s why you put your best player on the floor people
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Gallo had 1 bad game
and he can’t score in the clutch if he’s not on the floor in the clutch. did you somehow forget his last 5 games?
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
This is his fourth by my count
The first LA game, the Philly game… and one other.
But I’m not down on Gallo. Or AAA. Or Nene. Mostly Karl.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
I meant since he signed the contract
although I guess that also disqualifies the last 4 games and makes it last 3 instead
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
I still think the need for a "closer" is mostly a myth
I think you just need to run your offense and get good shots. Problem is, we don’t have an offense, so combined with the lack of a go-to man late nobody knows what the fuck to do, and when a couple things go wrong everyone shits their pants and we have a game like this.
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
Exactly, Superstars and Closer are indeed overrated
A team like this can be very successful (and the Spurs come to mind), but it must be WELL coached. A 3 guard line-up, with a soft Big man (Nene) in the closing seconds will not win games. Got have right line-ups/ formulas at the right time.
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
And Nene's just going to get worse as he starts sulking because he's being asked to be a 5 again...
…right now I think it would have been better for both him and us if he hadn’t re-signed here, unless GK learns to use him as his 4 man…
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT LINEUP AT THE END!!!! SMALL BALL SUCKS GEORGE – GET A F’N CLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Griz – 3 rebounds before making a 3 to take the final lead – why? 3 f’n GUARDS – ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID STUPID STUPID
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Karl Still Coaching Like This is a 82 Game Schedule
His tight rotations are running down this team and it shows when we have very little energy to end tight games. Supposedly, we are incredibly deep, but Karl sticks to his tight rotations no matter what. This would have been the perfect game to give Faried and Stone some run. The players seem really tired, banged up, and Karl sticks to his 7-8 man rotations. Really short-sighted if you ask me. We are going to need Chandler because our first 7 may not make it to the end of the season…
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
Enough with the faried talks hes not out there for a reason
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Seriously...
if we wanted another big man out there, it should’ve been Mozzy
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
The way he was playing tonight, I would have gone with Kouf...
…same defensive intensity, more than 1 foul left on his clock
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Karl Stubbornness?
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
Faried is the heart and soul of this team!
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
And what reason is that?
Because he is a rookie? Karl is a freaking jackass to not play the guy for just that reason alone. Is playing him for 10-15 mins gonna seriously kill this team? I mean come on
Colsportsfan - January 31, 2012
+1000
You know, Manimal is the all-time rebounder in college basketball history?? We need a guy that can go get the ball down the stretch vs. players who fumble the ball and tap at it…
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
Faried is our first round pick and has major talent and athleticism..
This is exactly what the Nuggs need on nights like this. . energy and athleticism…
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
Ya im sure? faried needs to develope before he gets a chance
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Tell me how Faried's rebounding and energy would not have helped down the stretch...
The players seemed dead on their feet late in the game…imagine Miller lobbing to Manimal!
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
Those are valid points based on common sense, so you know George Karl isn’t going to do any of that. He’ll stick to his tight rotations and small ball philosophy even if it gets the Nuggets completely out of the playoffs. And then he’ll blame the players because nothing is ever Karl’s fault in his world.
BryanM - January 31, 2012
This wasn't the players
Did you see them sitting on the bench during the OT timeout? AAA looked at GK like “you’re an idiot” – GAWD THIS WAS A LOSS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WIN. ARGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Are you guys INSANE!!!!!
One tough loss and you want to undo a trade that made the team younger, better, gave it more flexibility, upside, and two Knicks 1st round draft picks in 2014 and 2017. I’m not sure you guys deserve this team!
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
2017?
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Meant 2016
2016
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
this guy has a point...
MohrPlease - January 31, 2012
TRADE BACK WITH THE KNICKS!!!!
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Ha ha.
No.
I’d rather be a struggling contender in the west than a sub .500 team in the east.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
I agree with this
No need to panic yet, but the interior defense needs work. I would actually prefer if Faried got some burn even if he’s dead weight on offense. This small lineup shit wont get us far.
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
The MANIMAL is the answer
The team is missing Kenyon Martin. It was better with Nene at C and Martin at PF. Once Manimal is ready for minutes, he’ll give the team the rebounding, energy, and toughness it needs to win games like these. Karl probably just thinks he’s too raw at this point, but you have to give him minutes in the blowouts to develop him because they are going to need him (or someone like him). Mozgov is not good enough (yet?). Wilson Chandler might be of some help also.
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
We could have used Faried beast on the boards
We didnt need his offense with Miller, Al, and Nene./Lawson scoring
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
+1000
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
NO FAIR HE’S USING SENSE!!!
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
This team is FINE!!!! We need a leader with a brain in his head!!!!!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
And then Karl needs to play said leader
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
No!! Karl needs to resign and we need to find a leader AKA - NEW COACH
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Sloan?
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
oh I don't know... maybe Bill Laimbeer?
guy could slap some sense and toughness into this team, he’s currently an assistant for the t-wolves and has been looking for a head coaching job for a few years
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
He could toughen up Nene.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
G.k. Is the worst in game coach in the NBA
Kroenke should fire him and not let him on the team plane. Leave his worthless ass there.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
+1
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
THE ABSOLUTE F'N WORST!!!!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Finally someone with some clout on this site stepping up and throwing it out there
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Were you here when his username was "karlsucks"?
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
clout?
on a blog?
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
Not sure about the worst
Russscot - January 31, 2012
he did get outcoached by Del Negro
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
And this coming from you really means...well...nothing really
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
It was about time we heard the FireGK.com storm.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Gee thanks
He doesn’t understand when to call timeouts and can’t play a good lineup.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
You're welcome
not meaning to be harsh, but we all know how much you hate him so it just doesn’t really mean anything you would say “worst ever”
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
I considered moderating there
But my with my sn not an option.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
i'm frustrated w/ GK too
but he is not the worst
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
I don't want to "rate" him -
I just want him gone.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
and who in return?
sloan? jackson? don’t think they’re coming to Denver
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
Sloan will be the next coach in denver
Perfect team for him.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
would be great
but of all the teams to come out of retirement for, why denver?
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
We’re legit?
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
hey i'm a nuggets fan
and there’s no more legit team than ours, but in the grand scheme of things, there are other legit teams with higher prestige. i just don’t see a draw to Denver for high profile player or coaches.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
See KS's post just below.
If you think there’s any other team Sloan might come back for, you’re gonna be disappointed unless you see him going to Indy. San Antonio’s his type of team, but Pop ain’t goin’ nowhere; NYK are not his sort of team.
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
yes, good point
higher profile markets w/o divas i suppose are ruled out. denver is not alone in the pool of mid-market solid teams that would be interested in a Sloan swap out though. I suppose of there’s anyone that could pull it off, it would be Masai, but i’m really not holding my breath that our FO is gonna get rid of GK, nor that Sloan is going to proactively pitch coming to Denver.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
Exactly the team he wants
No superstar ego. He was absolutely referencing Denver when he said he would come back for the right team.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
One day
Not tonight.
I want to address this point of yours. Because it speaks VOLUMES about our differences in coaching philosophy.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Sure
Would love to see you defend the six guard lineup.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
Not the point I would make
More about managing players and egos. Something Karl is good at.
Sloan can handle the reality of the NBA, which is a player’s league. Coaches have such a small impact. This isn’t football, where it is about plays and execution. This is about teamwork and chemistry and egos. And Karl is better than Sloan in that department.
If the league were different, I’d be 100 percent behind you. But it’s not.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Coaches matter a ton
See the pre Jackson lakers.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
I'm frustrated
But I’m nowhere near being in the FIRE GK NOW camp.
It’s not like there is a coach out there available who is better.
Phil Jackson would be amazing.
But so would a trade of Birdman for Dwight Howard and a supermodel girlfriend who likes to cook and clean.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Sloan wants to coach again
And this is his type of team. Jackson not a good fit.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
This is a good point.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Jackson only wants allstars.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
the Nuggets have one actually
his name is Danilo Gallinari and he can’t do shit for you or your team IF HE’S SITTING ON THE FUCKING BENCH
LaimbeersGuardianAngel - January 31, 2012
Not yet.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Ty is more an All Star
Than Danilo. And I am a huge Gallo fan. Despite his inconsistency.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
I dont think any nuggets made the all-star roster but... ty is the closest
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Yes
This was more my point
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Karl has too much power!!!
He is an old school coach, thats why him and melo didnt get along. But we had an identity and no confusion in a game like tonight. Now Karl is able to run the team how HE wants it run with his hard headed mind boggling lineups. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt but the key is that we will win or die with Karl. Which really sucks!!!!
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Blaming the players as usual
For his mistakes. And the Karl implosion begins…
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
Karl interview on 950 am right now.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
I'D THROW THE RADIO OUT THE WINDOW - I CAN'T LISTEN!!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Did anyone ELSE see the matchups at the end of the game?!?!??!
What A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 5 to be out there at the end of this game based on who we were playing and what was needed…
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
karl said in post game interview
“Maybe I should have played Gallo more but I thought the team on the floor should have got the job done.”
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
they SHOULD have
but he left them out there waaaay too long and persisted with AAA when he was either anonymous or worse
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
What a dipshit
Seeing Dre and Fernandez take the last shots (4th and OT) did it for me
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
I don't mind Rudy taking that shot
he had a good look and it rimmed out.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
i'm split on that
rudy’s been doing ok on that quick release the last few games, but he was already 0-3 on the night.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
True..
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
You think
But gallo in the damn game
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
smh
and when they utterly failed to close out the game in regulation, maybe then it’s time to try something else?
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
Why is Andre Miller handling the ball so much
Did Karl forget that we have Ty Lawson on the team. Might want to remember that next time. Might get you a few more seconds to try and run a set offense…. oh wait, nevermind
paterade - January 31, 2012
Recovering from an ankle problem.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
ty lawson didnt have a good game... he struggled all game if you didnt watch
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
He didnt handle the ball too much
Lawson is recovering from ankle problems and multiple Nuggets handle the ball regularly in a Karl offense. Miller is by far the best creator on the team, especially when Lawson cant draw double teams on paint drives because of his ankle.
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
I'll chalk this up to Ty recovering
But Ty’s speed creates more when healthy
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Well it's too bad we lost tonight.
but I don’t think it’s going to be the end of our season. It’s 2 losses in a row. We’ve been through worse and survived.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Done for the night? I don’t blame you.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
thursday is a must win
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
how so?
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
and tbf
every West team aside from the Thunder (who have some puzzling losses themselves) have had similar streaks so far. But this is still worrying.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
The ball is round….
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
George,
Take your “small ball” and put it where the sun don’t shine… Oh – here’ George – “too many second shots” – WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! put 3 guards on the court and you’re not going to get defensive rebounds and they are going to get SECOND SHOTS. ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
smallball
It was a mistake to stay small on defense on that last possession in regulation, but in general it’s OK
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexxxxxxxxaaaaaaaaaaccccccccctttttttttttttttlllllllyyyy!
my sentiment
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
mtnmagic that is, wayne is dead wrong
karl can’t continue to use the “too many second shots” excuse, when he has two 7 footers sitting on the bench.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
7 footers
The problem is that Mozgov and Koufos aren’t productive enough to be out there. The small ball line up is the best line up. But on key defensive possessions (like the end of regulation and when they had 3 chances on OT) it was idiotic to go small.
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
Karl also said
“if we make free throws and don’t turn over the ball we will win the game.
If you want to say we need a go to guy for the end of games then I think that is irresponsible journalism"
LOL!
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
He's right about that
But he’s still culpable.
I’m still liking Karl more than I’m hating on him. But one of my gripes is the way he abdicates responsibility. It’s always the players. Just once I want him to man up and say, shit, I’m the coach, I’m the top dawg, and I blew it. Just once.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
True true
right in the middle of Van Gundy and Karl would be a good coach attitude
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Perhaps, he ought to have played 3 guards at once. You might sacrifice rebounding but with three capable ball handlers on the floor they wouldn’t turn the ball over…oh wait.
BryanM - January 31, 2012
George Karl
This guy needs to go. Either have andre or ty in the lineup during crunch time, not both of them! I’m sick of watching this shit, but I will keep watchin cause I’m a die hard nuggets fan. Fire George Karl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Dre's tall enough to play D on 2-guards--that's one of the reasons we traded for him.
I’m sure you think that with him out, AAA would slide to be a tall 2, but that’s not the way any coach in the NBA would play it
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Oh - GK: "we had a great run in January"
You don’t need a “closer” when your team is GOOD enough to have a 10 point lead.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
I almost forgot how aggressive game threads are sometimes lol.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
The winning was a great force field.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Dare I say......JR Smith
Would be a great addition to this team
paterade - January 31, 2012
JR is smart and will probably stay FAR AWAY from George Karl
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
There’s an oxymoron somewhere there.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Yo CC
Exactly!
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
JR Smith is smart
don’t hear that one everyday. Maybe you are right, I don’t know him personally but I do have doubts there
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
hahahaha I typed that completely wrong
“If JR is smart he will probably stay FAR AWAY from George Karl”
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
Ah so he is coming back!!
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
jr. is smart? come on. that had to make you laugh just a little inside.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
I thought J.R. was doing really well
at the end of last season. Of course his relationship with GK wasn’t getting any better but I don’t know the full story there so probably wouldn’t happen.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
The talk of trading Wilson Chandler's rights should stop
I want to see him at SG with Afflalo on the bench
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
agreed
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
I agree
And I hate Chandler…but I’d like to see him get some minutes in AAA’s place.
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
We'd have to sign him to a deal.
Or a qualifying offer to get him to play with us. At this point I’m not sure he’d do either. If he doesn’t want to be here, no real reason for him to do so.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
Nah he said on twitter he'd be abck with denver if that helps :)))))))))))))))))
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Did he?
I missed that. Well that’s a different story, but of course it matters why he was saying that lol.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
I'm beginning to lean this way myself.
My resistance to his coming back has to do with his pouting about coming off the bench. But that’s not a problem if he starts.
There’s no rule that says you can’t be an awesome defensive stopper and killer corner 3-point assassin off the bench….
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
that's what Bruce Bowen did
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
JR is NEVER COMING BACK HERE.
I’D LOVE IT!! – but GK burned that bridge when he blamed JR in the OK City playoffs – while GK played his small ball and blew it…
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
not to mention the best shot blocking sf this side of lbj
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
if AAA can't get it together in Feb
then yes
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
Chandler
I am a Knicks fan (and Denver fan). I know Wilson’s game well. He’s better than he played for you guys last year, but he has poor shot selection at times and can shoot you right out of a game with bad 3s etc… I was looking at his China stats the other day and even though he’s scoring etc.. he’s terrible from beyond the arc (something like mid 20%). So that part of his game has not improved since last year.
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
GK: he's being real snarky in his interview
He’s blaming it on second shots!?!?!?? – SMALL BALL MEANS YOU DON’T HAVE REBOUNDERS GEORGE. 1 + 1 = 2
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Always blames others for his mistakes
Sign of insecurity
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - January 31, 2012
Ha ha
Good point. I like small ball more than most stiffs. I can do the math and see the advantages speed brings. But it also kills when shots aren’t going in and you need rebounding. It’s just a matter of making adjustments.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
ya, but it also kills on the defensive boards
And in OT, you can’t give up any second shots with the limited clock – so small ball is like suicide unless the other team is playing 3 guards too – which the Griz were NOT. Man, we should have won this game – EASILY too.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Of course
Small ball is good for building leads.
But there comes a time when you need to protect leads. And here GK and small ball fail.
See the last two game where Denver was up by 10 in the 4th and ended up with an L.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
I am enjoying these kneejerks way too much to leave yet
We have 45 more games to figure out what clicks, we are 14-7, and AAA is probably going to the bench or traded soon.
Dear J-Ham,
get really good, really quick.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Chandlah.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
I'm not sold that Chandler is a true 2 guard
But anyone but AAA. I’d even resign JR at this point and let him start.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
Wil can play the 2.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
chandler is a 3. can't match the speed of the best 2's
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
wilson is an excellent defender
what you really have to worry about is that he has no conscious on offense. he can be a little like “buckets”
Wayne Crimi - January 31, 2012
If J-Ham does get good.
We won’t know it. He’ll be stuck at the end of GKs bench.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
hahaha touché.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I think the loaded back court has something to do with that.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
Well, I can only hope and pray that
J-Ham does become even a poor man’s Paul Pierce. I’m not going to make any more excuses for AAA at this point.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
He doesn’t deserve anything so he has a fire under him now.
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
I'd argue
that we’ve had at least 5 or 6 blowouts so far this season. J-Ham’s entered the game once and Stone’s played in 4 games so far. I know they don’t play the same position but I doubt it’s that difficult to get him some minutes.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
I agree that it is ridiculous to think the Nuggets are gonna spiral out of control
But the GK hate is no longer knee jerk
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Anyone that has watched GK over the past few years
knows this isn’t “knee jerk”
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
I've Hated Karl
For a long while now
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Anyone that knows the game...
has seen that GK is a screwup in many ways…
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
speaking of knee jerks
AAA isn’t going anywhere.
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
Ha. I've been on the anti-AAA bandwagon for the last 5-6 games
And I love that I’m converting some of you.
I can only hope that he either gets back to 2010 form, benched, or traded.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I think he'll get back to 2010 form,
but possibly not this year
Rainbow skyline - January 31, 2012
You can forget a trade.
With that big fat contract and the way he’s playing we can only hope he gets out of that slump and starts balling again.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Hey KA
I’ve been on the “reality” wagon that AAA is average at best for 2 years and kept yelling that we needed to keep JR – but, we know AAA plays “George’s way” – JR doesn’t
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Man, AAA was Mr. Dependable last year
Never anything flashy, but he played good defense, had his flashes on offense, and was one of those guys that really gave it his all.
His consistency is what he was signed for and what is he failing to produce.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
The phrase “figure out what clicks” implies experimentation and a willingness to be flexible. Nothing we’ve seen out of George Karl suggests either of those things will happen.
He’ll play as much small ball as he can and waste his rookies on the bench.
BryanM - January 31, 2012
Good point!
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
JR WOULD BE AWESOME -
BUT GK CAN’T STAND HIM, SO FORGET THAT – WE GET AAA AND HIS WEAK A$$ Game.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
JR Smith
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Best passer on this team
(dead serious. Actually awesome passer)
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Nah
I’d take Rudy’s passes over JR’s.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
I don't see JR ever playing here again
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Hi SD
Calm me down tonight – and no, JR will never ever return here again – I just hope we get to enjoy him play somewhere in the NBA again.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
He'll play in the NBA this year
He’s way too talented not to.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
He's also a Sam-Cassell-level flake.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he has burnt-bridge problems in more than just Denver, Chicago and NO…
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Agreed
Talent ≠ a good basketball career.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
LOL.
Look, we should give Memphis some credit for making adjustments. We were flummoxed by our own mistakes IMO. That’s one area where Dre and Buckets being on the floor is a good thing (aside from his squabble last game). I think when we don’t get calls, we lose our focus. That is definitely something that needs to get better.
I think we are still going to be a – ok,
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Ya...
We’ll be ok, but I will eat crow and say that we are much better than I thought we were going to be this year and with the possibility of going deeper in the playoffs, I just wish we could some changes in GK’s coaching style. We are getting to a point in the season where “experimenting” will become too difficult as the team chemistry is starting to solidify with who is getting the playing time. It is just frustrating – and this year, there aren’t any “villains” to blame some of the bad games on – this is a good group of players. The leader (GK) needs to lead.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
Oh God!
When JR returns to Denver with another team he is liable to put of 50
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
JR!!!
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Starting to worry about the AAA contract...
ACEIII - January 31, 2012
Well I couldn't stand Anthony Carter
and Karl didn’t budge, so he owes me one
paterade - January 31, 2012
I heard what really held up the Melo deal was
George didn’t want to trade Anthony Carter.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I wouldn't doubt it
Somebody has to throw passes to the fans
paterade - January 31, 2012
throw away WCF games ect
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
GK probably thought
the reason we even GOT to the WCF was because of AC.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
I was kidding
Maybe I should have added LOL?
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I got it
And laughed :)
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
I never understood why we overpaid for AAA
He’s had nice years, but has an extremly low ceiling
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Exactly...
What was the market for him? We were bidding against ourselves!!!
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Trade
I would give Afflalo and for Kmart and JR right now
Rockridge1 - January 31, 2012
our 43 million man..... nuggets gm's lookin dumb on this one
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
The 2 PG lineup
It just drives me crazy. I love ty and dre but they shouldn’t both be out there in crunch time. I think you ride who is having the better game that night. I know gallo had an off game, but he should have been out there late in the fourth and overtime.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
I dont mind the 2 guard lineup
Lawson has more of a scorers mentality and you have 2 creators in the back court. Its was our front line that got mauled and shit kicked in the endgame. Gay, Gasol and Tony allen playing inside did the bulk of damage. Although Lawson didnt play his best game, while Dre played very well, its ALL or mostly on the front court IMO.
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Nene is so fuckin sft sometimes down low.
Mozgov played less than 10 MIN, and Gallo only 24 MIN. We had no front court to rebound
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
And if we'd put Mozzy back in there, he'd have played less than _11_ minutes instead.
The refs had a target on his back; if he’d gone in he’d have pulled a sixer
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
gallo had more rebounds than nene..... wowowow
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Excellent point
With our small ass lineups late in games, we have trouble rebounding.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Shoulda played Faried
Sometime u have to sacrifice a little offense to not allow offense on the other side
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
OK...
…we were already under-sized, so you wanted to…
…go for undersized and inexperienced to boot?
No, what we needed was Kouf back in.
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Maybe the question is
if we can count on Moz/Kouf to give us 48 minutes of reliable and consistent Center play.
Agaliarept - January 31, 2012
Faried is the all time NCAA reb leader for a reason
he may only be 6’8, but hes athetic and has a great wingspan. He plays bigger than his height. Charles Barkley was a huge rebounder, and he way 6’5. Doesnt mean he cant own the boards
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
george wanted 2nd chances.
Maybe he should understand what players he has on the team
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
He's not 6'8"
And Nene isn’t 6’11".
Doesn’t really matter, though.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Faried is 6'5", too?
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Well
I don’t really know for sure.
He’s no 6’ 8", though.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Depends on if his hair is up or down.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
2 PG Lineup
It might work most nights in the regular season, but it’s not gonna fly in the playoffs.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
I've been sayin this a long time
Case in point look at last year with felton and ty, it was great reg season but come playoffs that shit dont work
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
It can fly any time
But when the other team adjusts, Karl needs to. His problem is he doesn’t.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Exactly
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Yes I actually like Lawson and Miller on the floor together
But I agree it can’t be over played
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Adjusting
When the other team adjusts, Karl needs to take one of them out and put in a bigger guard.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
YOU FORGET - AAA WAS OUT THERE WITH THEM - AND TY - WHAT A HORRIBLE...
TIME TO THROW HIM BACK INTO THE LINEUP!?!??!?!?! – He’s been hurt and on the bench – THEN PLAY HIM THE ENTIRE OT AND THE 4TH QUARTER?!?!?!?!? OH MAN… But I’m starting to calm down…. LOL
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
We don't hear you over the internet
it’s OK to type in lower case even when mad
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
I'm calming down... :)
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
WHERE IS THIS RULE???
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
I actually don't mind that Gallo was benched
I am a huge Gallo optimist and the dude’s chucking/decision making was inexcusable.
Sometimes you have to send a message.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
disagree
I thought Gallo should have been out there. I don’t want to see Rudy Fernandez taking the last shot
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Tonight, I wouldn't have wanted _Gallo_ taking the last shot.
He’s not Melo; he doesn’t shoot himself into games when his touch has been off all night.
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
Fernandez
Were you comfortable with him taking the last shot? I wasn’t
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
THis
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
He's just as good as anyone else on this team to take the last shot.
Meaning Nuggets don’t have a goto guy at the end of the game.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Gallo
Well I’m not getting down on Gallo because he had one bad game. I woild have liked to see him out there in crunch time.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Would
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Four bad games
But I’m not getting down on him.
Knicks fans after the trade warned us of exactly this, he’d have some turb nights. And he has. But he’s also been amazing other nights. The nuggets knew the facts when they signed him. It was a good call.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Fine but he was in his very early 20's when he played for them
Not a single hall of famer could say they never had several off games in their early 20’s
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Ha ha
Who said he’s a hall of famer?
Lots of good players are making Gallo’s money. Not many of them are going to end up in the hall of fame.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
aaa for one
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
Ha ha.
He’s wrong. Just like he’s wrong about the Nuggets being “my team”.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Not my point
I’m saying EVERY player has off games, especially as their maturing and learning the game. It’s not like the Knicks fans had such valuable info when they said Gallo would struggle in some games…
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
OK.
Gotcha.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Miller did play from 8 MIN in the 3rd Q for the rest of the game
Without being taken out! I Luv Miller but thats a little long playing 25+ straight min including OT without rest
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
Well...
hopefully someone takes something away from this. For the players- show some pride. Don’t go out there, lose your aggression, back down when someone else starts showing some menace on the other team. For the coach- we have lots of players, use them. i don’t mind him going small (no, really), but leaving in the same lineup for most of the 4th quarter, especially when parts of it are not performing, just doesn’t make sense. And some of the lineups have been Don Nelsonian. Mix it up, we have the parts. The free throw shooting- well, that happens. But the rest of these can be fixed. And they have to really.
What this team does in LA on Thursday will be telling about the heart and toughness of this team early in the season. Not saying they have to win, but they have to play aggressive and give full effort and toughness for 48 minutes. They better bring it, even if they don’t come out on top.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
Lol
Its true
zeusmith - January 31, 2012
And I will say this because I am often an eater of crow
I hope AAA turns it around, has an incredibly solid season, and shuts me up.
KevinAwesome - January 31, 2012
I hope so too but...
I dont see that fire that I saw last year. But hey when your playing for a new contract I guess that all the motivation your need! Its going to a long year for AAA
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
this one wasn't all on g.k we DID play soft and we DID play sloppy,
but i am so tired of g.k. using the “too many second shots” excuse when he has three guards in the lineup, al at 4 and 2 GOOD 7 footers and an aggressive rebounder in the rookie at his disposal.
nobody in here can honestly say, based on what they have SEEN that small lineups are better than one with nene next to ANY of the aforementioned bigs.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
great point
agreed completely
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
but g.k. refuses to be reactionary, even if it is the obvious move.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
There are plenty of times where small ball has been more successful than having a big in
especially because our bigs are not that great. But I will give you that Karl has not adjusted at times this year, and a mix of small ball with big and small would likely be better.
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
that is simply not true the majority of the time, and we are talking about the fact that he employs small ball personnel the majority of the time
it works agains BAD teams with bad, slow footed guards. NEVER is it the better option than playing nene along with kk, timo, manimal who ARE good. i haven’t seen them make the mistakes that most of the little guys have and there is the added bonus that THEY ARE PLAYING THEIR NATURAL FUCKING POSITION and thus have at the very least a rebounding draw instead of a complete deficit.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
I've seen it work a lot of time
including tonight. If there was always one of the bigs out there it would probably be even more disastrous because neither is all that good yet. Somewhere around 25-30 minutes for the two would be fine for me, but it needs to be spread out well. I remember seeing the leaders in +/- being almost all guards for the Nugs so it does work quite a bit.
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
koufos was excellent tonight!
much better than al or rudy. or do you only watch three pointers?
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
Do you need to be condescending?
I’m not talking about solely tonight, I am saying small ball works often enough.
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
not trying to be condescending towards you. sorry
unfortunately i don’t have g.k.’s ear.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
No worries
we do have a georgekarl on this blog, but he is 17 apparently and maybe not who would mean
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Yeah, you can have my ear but it won't do any good.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
dammit george, i love you, but you need to be less stubborn.
as soon as you graduate and move out of your parents house.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
But who will pay my battle.net subscription?
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
and those plus minus stats are ridiculous
we are a good team that plays small ball 75% of the game. obviously the guards will have a higher +- through minutes alone.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
It all depends on the situation
You are blind if you can’t see the advantages of a small-ball line-up.
But I’m not so stupid to suggest that they work all the time. Cos they don’t.
One is good for building a lead, and one is good for protecting a lead.
I like Karl, but the criticisms are apt: he is wrong not to put taller rebounders in in many situations.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
you have to admit though
it’s frustrating to see Karl continue to seem confused as to why we give up a lot of offensive rebounds sometimes. The small ball lineup certainly has gotten us leads, built on leads, and helped us be successful in many situations. But when the other team puts in a bully like Tony Allen, you have to get tougher. Which I’m sure you agree with.
El Scorcho! - January 31, 2012
I think a lot of this has to do with GK's lack of trust in the bigs
which in some ways is warranted but would be good if he had more trust, a better big would be the best solution.
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
We need a big GK can trust to put alongside Nene
Will Mozzy ever be it??? I really hope so. He’s got to stop fouling tho
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
ADVANTAGES OF SMALL BALL LINEUP?
CAN YOU SAY OK CITY? EARLY EXIT WHEN WE SHOULD HAVE BEAT THEM? NO, I DON’T SEE THE ADVANTAGES OF SMALL BALL.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING AT ME?
I am just making a point.
It isn’t an opinion. Look at the line-up stats. A two PG lineup has killed for Denver this year.
But rebounding has hurt Denver in crucial situations. I stand by my point that playing small is a smart tactical move at times. You can build a big lead playing small and fast.
of course, the knife cuts both ways. I get it. Karl, it seems, doesn’t.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
LOUD NOISES!!
Kevin L - January 31, 2012
it works against bad teams with slow footed guards.merely this and nothing more.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
Not true.
Nuggets running and going small has built leads in almost every single game. Problem is, other coaches are smart enough to make adjustments: move ball on perimeter, hit threes or miss and get second-hand points since Denver has no one to rebound.
It is a good play some times but Denver needs rebounders to protect a lead.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
you can run and build leads just as easilly without putting a 6'8 below the rim player who doesn't run well
at the 4. timo would beat al in a foot race.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
I don't disagree
Moz can run and be athletic.
Like to see him get the chance.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
or kk or faried. stuborn subborn stubborn.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
moz is so inconsistent right now
some games (clippers, knicks) he’s awesome. tonight, he looked pedestrian. from the start of the season, he is getting more time, albeit in one minute increments i think.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
true, but there are thre under utilized options for his off nights.
like today when he had trouble handling the ball. go with kk instead of bird. don’t put the man with the worst hands in the league in for him.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
Well at least Dodo only played 7 minutes
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Patrick
No, it has to do with matchups – slow footed guards match up one on one with our guards. It’s the 3rd guard that creates the mismatch at the 3 and 4 spots and thus, they get posted up, shot over and rebounded over.
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
i don't disagree that it is the three guard lineup that is the culprit
or any lineup where bird or al play 5.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
I agree that neither of these two should ever anchor the 5.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Uh... I think I've been saying that for 20 posts - and this WAS all on GK
Every time the Nugs would start to get momentum or go up 6, 8 or 10 points, here would come some CRAZY substitution and back down the margin would go – The Nugs played well – but it was like a yo-yo….
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
I agree, keep Mosgov or Koufos in the game to rebound at least
if you want to jerk around, jerk around with the 3 and 4. And for all that is good in the world, set up a decent play for late game situations. Did we not learn from the playoffs?
paterade - January 31, 2012
We might as well sign KMart back since we don't use our 7 footers
and AL at PF doesn’t work
CombatChuk - January 31, 2012
no, then george will just pla a lineup of ty, andre, rudy, al and k-mart.
Patrick KB. Nugget - January 31, 2012
True...
We have to wait 2.5 years for this sh!t to end :(
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
I love K Mart
But he’s not a great rebounder.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
better than nene, he rebounds when it counts and ISNT SOFT LIKE NANA
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
nene was soft tonight
Because he was in foul trouble.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Wonder if he realized hmm i have 4 fouls with 35 seconrds left... better try and get
this rebound… but no memphis got 2 straight off board that part kills me
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Nene was soft tonight
Because he had on his 4th quarter pink panties.
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
No
He just gets away with a lot of shit!! lol
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Pathetic....that's all
Pusherman - January 31, 2012
Did Gallo get injured?
Ski Bum - January 31, 2012
i honestly thought that had to be the reason
but someone above said that in the post game interview, GK said that he had considered putting Gallo back in. That tells me Gallo wasn’t injured to any serious extent.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
Blows my mind
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
Nope
He just had an AWFUL, INEXCUSABLE 8 point on 10 shots
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
So ya, take him out when it matters.
I get it
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
All I can say about this game
Is glad its not a playoff game. I don’t know how to explain missed FTs that would have sealed the W.
This team is still young and we forget that. Ty was not great either tonight, still not back from that ankle injury.
I should get really pissed, but what can you do we are a young team and gave the Grizz a chance when we shouldnt have.
Time to just chill I guess.
Feinstein!!! Write the next 3 previews so I can feel better
JR15 - January 31, 2012 via mobile
WAHHHHHHHHHHHH
CloudBurst - January 31, 2012
LOL
+1
mtnmagic22 - January 31, 2012
WHEN DID WE TRADE GALLO FOR Nikoloz Tskitishvili
WHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CloudBurst - January 31, 2012
Halftime...that's why he didn't play in the 2nd half.
Woulda been against league rules :p
Russscot - January 31, 2012
Never bring up that name
ever
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
I can't TAKE IT ANYMORE
I Just want to punch a bunny in the stomach, those damn things overpopulate everywhere they go.
CloudBurst - January 31, 2012
THIS MOVIE WAS LIKE THE GREEN LANTERN FILM
IT SUCKED
CloudBurst - January 31, 2012
Let me get something straight
Gallo was off tonight; Rudy was 0-3 and barely played. Why in the world did he get that last shot?
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
I would admittedly like to know that;
my first choice for that shot would have been Ty, and my second Buckets
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
i didn't watch any replays
but i doubt Rudy was the first option. i’m guessing Buckets was the plan, but he couldn’t get open. If not buckets, then who else for the 3? AAA, Corey (who did actually make one), Rudy, or Dre. The 3 was not good for Denver tonight outside of Al.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
That's how it looked to me.
SDcat09 - January 31, 2012
Coaches can draw up the play however they want
In the end you only have so many seconds to throw the ball in and find someone open.
I don’t care who you are, you got to try for a shot if it is in your hands with the clock running down.
That play was not drawn up for Rudy.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
So why was he in instead of Gallo?
RoxWS2014 - January 31, 2012
I would have liked to see more Brewer in the 4th for defense
Phil H. - January 31, 2012
Me too, come to think it.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
Karl
I’ve come to the reazation that Karl will always use small ball in cruch time. I can sit here at bitch all I want, but the man is stubborn as hell. He might have over a thousand wins, but how many titles does he have? 0!!!!!
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Yup
Has always had quality teams but come playoffs he gets outcoached
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
there are many coaches w/ 0 titles
and yes, i agree, he will always use small ball. I think just as much as he wants a title, he wants to prove to the NBA that small ball can succeed.
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
It will work
But we have to ride while its working and adjust when it isnt. We cant just stick with it bc GK has something to prove
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
He needs to adjust
There are times small ball can work, but when the other team is consistently getting to the basket time and time again, because the team doesn’t have any shot blockers in—there is something terribly, terribly wrong.
nugzin2040 - January 31, 2012
Fair point
I just don’t think small ball can work in the playoffs. I hope he can prove me wrong, but I highly doubt it.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
You can't go entirely small I agree
Need to have a shot blocking, rebounding, defensive presence. We don’t currently have that. Biggest flaw of the team. Even bigger then the lack of a go to scorer, which can be compensated imo… masked, with the depth of the team.
nugzin2040 - January 31, 2012
We must play Fasttttttt
i hate when they walk it up the floor. If your gunna play small play fast
eddiebuckets - January 31, 2012
Sometimes I think...
The Nuggets are just trolling their fanbase. Like they have a minimum quota of double digit second half leads that they must have each season…
Man, I think I would rather we just got blown out by 40 then this junk.
nugzin2040 - January 31, 2012
Ty Lawson
Did say — and he’s not the only one — that the Nuggets plan this season was to “fly under the radar”.
They could, indeed, be losing on purpose to surprise people in the playoffs.
You heard it here first.
Fly Agaric - January 31, 2012
nice way to look at it
with all the media attention of putting Denver in the top 2, they’re deliberately tanking to get back under the radar
nugz4rollz - January 31, 2012
If they're going to fly under the radar
Can they just lose by 20, instead of these heartbreaking losses? I’m more afraid that we’re a team that will be caught in good team mode.
nugzin2040 - January 31, 2012
The center position
I love Mozgov hence my screen name but Karl will never play him. Maybe we need to look for a center in the trade market perhaps?
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Ummm...
…this is perhaps the stupidest night to say that all year.
Moz didn’t sit this game because he was violating some unwritten rule GK wouldn’t ever let anyone including him know about—he sat this game because he picked up 3 fouls in 6 minutes in the first half, then another 3 in 4 minutes in the second.
What did you want him to do, go back in for 30 seconds in crunch-time, during which he picked up #6?
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
errr, wait...carry the 4--
ummm, I meant ‘2 in 6 minutes in the first half, then another 3 in 4 in the second’…
Chrysicat - January 31, 2012
if hes in foul trouble just play him if your gonna sit him and hes not gonna play in ct
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
Moz was in terribly foul trouble I agree...
If only there was some player on our bench known for rebounding, defending, and hustle…
nugzin2040 - January 31, 2012
hes not playing... and i agree that he shouldn't be playing
5baker5 - January 31, 2012
We win with this game with Faried.
JMHO
nugzin2040 - January 31, 2012
Let's refrain from calling folks stupid please.
Nate Timmons - January 31, 2012
The rest of the season
I don’t like the term stupid getting thrown around. I was trying to say that Moz doesn’t even get 30 minutes of playing time in any game. I’m talking about going forward. Moz has had some nice games and GK just pulls him out. Maybe if we get an established center, GK will play that center instead of going small
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Nope
georgekarl - January 31, 2012
Dwight Howard
Even if we got him Karl would only play him 20 minutes a night lol.
TheMozgovCocktail - January 31, 2012
Marc Gasol PLAYED 50 MINUTES TONIGHT!
MOZGOV = 10 min.
KOUFOS = 12 min.
NENE = 33 min.
Harrington = 38 min.
Think it’s time to go ahead and admit that Nene was no more a Power Forward on this team tonight than Harrington is a Power Forward in real life.
These lineups are fucking retarded. I’d rather lose playing with a traditional lineup using our Centers as Centers and Nene at powerforward than win with goofy all guard lineups in the reg. season and live in perpetual playoff hell.
InboundingLobPass - January 31, 2012
Yea gasol outplayed NENE big time
