What: STIFFS NIGHT OUT - Denver Nuggets at New York Knicks. The Nuggets only play the New York Knicks one time this season and it's in New York. What better way to watch the game (that's only on NBA TV) than with your fellow Stiffs?! Given the 5:30pm start time, families are welcome, too.
When: 5:30 p.m. (MST), Saturday, January 21st, 2012
Where: Jake's Food & Spirits: 3800 Walnut, Denver, CO 80205
Why: Because Jake's has a new 100'' screen to watch games, great food, and some nice specials for the night on drinks.
Prizes: We will be playing Nuggets trivia at halftime and giving away prizes to the winners. The grand prize (given to three lucky Stiffs after the game) will be a pair of tickets to the Raptors vs. Nuggets game on January 27th. The seats are located just three rows behind the Nuggets bench and were given to us by the Nuggets organization. The second prize (also given to three lucky Stiffs) will be an official Denver Stiffs T-shirt.
Mark your calendars and be sure to come join your fellow Stiffs along with Jeff, Andrew, and myself as the Nuggets play their first game against the Knicks since the big Chauncey Billups trade.

And it was hella awkward. I blame lack of booze. They said there was a drink special, but when I went to the bar, the bartender didn’t know what I was talking about.
I think I only stayed until halftime and then left. I remember Andrew. I give him a lot of shit here sometimes, but he was nice and friendly. No wonder he meets so many famous people.

the second person is TBD, either my NY transplant wife (not a Knicks fan), or a friend depending on sitter availability. Spent a little over a week in NY over the holidays, there was a little local excitement over the Knicks after their opening night win, but it faded quickly later in the week. It was more Giants vs Jets smack and rooting for Giants to get in the playoffs.

No, i work here, but i am a local.
Probably the only Nuggets fan here. I Switched from watching NHL to NBA in 2008 after playing more basketball myself. Fell in love with the Nuggets back then and it still lasts ;) Its hard to see the games live as most of them start at 3. am local time (west coast games at 1 am), but I try to avoid news sites and watch the games the next morning.
I am sure I will make it to a live game in the next 2 years, if i dont get a business trip to the area I will have to plan a vacation there ;)

Re. Melo and the Knicks. The NY franchise seems destined to follow its desire: To have a bunch of scorers who don’t play defense or do the dirty work of winning. Melo is a very selfish dude and suffers from ego overload but I don’t believe he is a loser. He sure made this franchise during his time here and I think there are times he will look back fondly at Denver. My NY Stiff is Amare. He is who we thought he was: A Steve Nash creation.
