As the Nuggets cast aside the cold yet rewarding month of January, it's time to look ahead to the shortest month of the year. Supposedly February is the month of love, and the birth month of two of our presidents.
Nah, it's the month of difficult NBA scheduling. With musical help from Queen ...

Since I'm still suffering from "what the hell happened last night" syndrome, and have resisted the urge to write a scathing missive about George Karl. I have decided to make this preview of February both brief and entertaining. I've broken down the schedule into three separate segments. Each segment has a song by Queen accompanying it to act as the "theme" of said schedule portion. Lets get started ...
Dead on Time
In what has to be the worst back-to-back-to-back set in the entire NBA this season, the Nuggets will play the Los Angeles Clippers (12-6) in LA on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers (13-9) at home in Denver, and then the Portland Trail Blazers (12-9) at the Rose Garden in Portland. An unbelievable set of three games that will test both the mental and physical acuity of these Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets may be given a small reprieve however. Each game will either start at 8:00 or 8:30 pm MDT. This is small consolation however, as the Nuggets must scale the western United States in three days. Besides the obvious traveling woes, the Nuggets will be facing three good teams (it's arguable about the Lakers, however) and each team poses a completely different challenge for the Nuggets. Depth George Karl. Use your depth otherwise the Nuggets will be too tired. Dead tired.
The Nuggets, fortunately, have played each of these teams before. The familiarity should be a good thing as they try to tackle each. The one I'm wanting the Nuggets to win the most is the first one against the Clippers. Considering they won on a well-timed flop by Chauncey Billups and questionable lineups by the Nuggets at the end, I'd like to prove that a fully healthy Nuggets team can take down the Clip Joint. The Lakers can't seem to win on the road which helps, and the Nuggets will be very very fortunate if they can beat the Blazers at the Rose Garden on the third night. That is the least likely victory of the set.
Queen - Dead on time (via RedSpecial1963)
Another one Bites the Dust
The "middle" of the February portion of the Nuggets schedule looks to be by far the "easiest" part. This is mostly due to the Nuggets having four of these five games at home. During this stretch the Nuggets will play the Houston Rockets (12-9), the Dallas Mavericks (14-8), the Golden State Warriors (7-12) and the Phoenix Suns (7-13) at home. A quick visit to Indiana to face the Pacers (14-6) is sprinkled in there. Looking at it now, it looks like the Mavs at home and the Pacers on the road will be the toughest matchups. I'd normally say Houston, but I think the Nuggets can take them at home (even though Kyle Lowry is still the most irritating player in the NBA).
While the Nuggets match up VERY well with the Mavs, the defending champions have been playing a lot better as of late now that Dirk Nowitzki seems to have got himself in shape. The Pacers are a team that is built much like the Nuggets, without a "superstar". Yet they are winning games at a good clip, almost like a mirror reflection. They are led by sharpshooting Danny Granger. I'm looking forward to this particular game more than any in this particular section of games.
Nuggets have to bring the funk in these games. Win each one and not fool around. Another one bites the dust indeed.
Queen - 'Another One Bites the Dust' (via queenofficial)
Stone Cold Crazy
Check out this murderer's row, on the road and at home, during the final and, and most difficult part of February. Three games on the road right off the bat to Dallas, at Memphis to face the Grizzlies (whom the Nuggets just lost to) and the HUGE Oklahoma City Thunder (16-4) game. Uhg! That three game road test will be the most difficult stretch the Nuggets have faced all year. Dallas is resurgent with an in-shape Dirk is a dangerous Dirk. Memphis just beat Denver short handed and on the second night of their back to back. OKC is - well - so far the best team in the conference. With Kevin Durant (don't call me Reggie Miller), Russel Westbrook and James Harden the Thunder have put together their own little big three. I'm curious to see how the Nuggets come out of this stretch.
After a brief stop at home to play the surprising and resurgent Minnesota Timberwolves (10-11) featuring Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love - the Nuggets go back on the road to face the Clippers for the third time in a month. Hopefully by this point the Nuggets will have been able to learn to stay away from Chauncey Billups, lest he flop again. The Nuggets end the month with home games against the San Antonio Spurs (13-9) and the Blazers. The Spurs are always tough on the Nuggets, and the Blazers are a good team. Stone Cold Crazy ya'll.
QUEEN: Stone Cold Crazy (via rdc65)
In total this month's worth of games is a very difficult period for the Nuggets. This will test their resolve against good and occasionally great opponents with seven road games and eight home games, 15 games in all. All but three games against teams with winning records, at the time of this writing. Every road opponent the Nuggets face has a winning record and at least 12 wins at the moment. This shortest month of the year will tell us more about this current team than anything they have faced so far.
Going to be tough ...

6 wins 9 losses for FEB
Denver wins 6 of 15 in February. Perhaps motivation for Karl to give Faried, Stone, and Hamilton some burn? Doubtful. One can always hope….
not_karl - February 1, 2012
thats exactly what i think they will go
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
I get the Faried infatuation but...
can I ask what you’ve seen in Stone/Hamilton that makes you feel they deserve more PT over the other guards on the team?
UKnowULovedVanQwik - February 1, 2012
Agreed
I like what we’ve seen in very brief minutes from Stone, but he still has not outplayed Lawson or Miller, and he most likely doesn’t have the shooting touch to play the 2. While I would like to see more out of Hamilton, who knows what we’ll get. I’d rather bank on Afflalo turning his game around.
Kleiza's Corner - February 1, 2012
I agree
we haven’t seen enough of Hamilton. Which is why some game time especially if Nuggets find themselves around .500 or below at the end of Feb would be a good thing to see what it is we have in the young rookies. I think Stone can be a real good backup pg and i can envision a tough as nails defensive 2nd squad come in led by Stone, Brewer, Chandler, Faried, and Koufos.
not_karl - February 1, 2012
Brutal month
I’m already having trouble sleeping. This month is going to cause ulcers.

OT: Nuggets Vertical Jump contest between Moz, Gallo, and Faried!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wYqidR2iIQ&feature=youtu.be
Agaliarept - February 1, 2012
someone send it to george karl
he wants those 2nd chances, manimal is the one who can get them.
georgekarl - February 1, 2012
Moz can jump?
Watching them throw him alley oops below the rim, I didn’t think he was capable of jumping.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
He's got at least a foot of vert.
love4nuggets - February 2, 2012
simmons today mentioned that it would make sense for cleveland to convert verajao into picks/younger guys
he would be very intriguing for denver. Not sure what his price would be. Just throwing it out there.
Rainbow skyline - February 1, 2012
There are quite a few Stiffs clamoring for Anderson V. … he makes $7.7M this season,
$8.4M in 2012-13
$9.1M in 2014-15
and a
$9.8M team option for the 2015-16 season.
Nate Timmons - February 1, 2012
Of all the people
talked about as a trade / addition to the Nuggets, Verajao is my No. 1 hope.
The Nuggets need a rebounding C, and this is what Anderson does best.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
i said in the other thread
rudy, moz, and dre for varejao and sessions. get the big that we need and a backup pg to clear any issue about the lineup
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
also a good trade
I’m hesitant to give up Moz though. maybe switch Moz with Kosta.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
I'm hesitant to give up any of those guys, save Miller
I’d rather do a sign and trade with Chandler and ship him, Miller and K2 to the most beautiful city on the planet, which is Cleveland.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
Trade Machine
I came up with this, Miller, K2, and Hamilton to cleveland for Verajao and Sessions. Maybe we throw a pick in there also
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Miller
By trading Miller to the cavs, he can reunite with one of his old teams again like he did here.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
as much as i like miller
i can’t justify him being here. don’t get me wrong, i love the way he’s playing now and he brings good leadership and experience to a team that probably needs it. but right now, i feel like it’s time for our young guns to take control, by throwing them in the deep end of the pool if necessary. show if they have what it takes and if they don’t make adjustments from there. it’s one thing to have a lot of talk about potential and it’s another to actually follow through when given a chance
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
Of topic
But Kevin No. 3, what do you mean by “swmr”, is that leet speak for “swimmer”, cos that’s how I read that.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
yes
i want to figure out how to change my screen name to Kevin #3. perhaps i should look around for it..
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
creating a new profile will do it
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
Or you can email the mods
and they can change it, I think. But multiple screen names is more fun. I have 3.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
But with a new profile
You lose your post count and all the cred that brings you!
/ sarcasm.
So. What’s your opinion on full body shaving re: hydrodynamics.
I’m new to swimming, but I’m training for a triathlon. I need to know: should I shave constantly, or just before a race?
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
just before the race
the physical change is very minimal imo. i think its more of a mental thing where you think youre removing all of the drag by shaving. and you feel much smoother in the water. do it the night before your race
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
Those expensive body suits are where it's at
for competitive swimming. No shaving required.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
they banned some of the newer ones
too much of an advantage for those countries in international swimming that could afford to outfit their entire teams with them for every meet
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
My brothers kids all swim
who knew bathing suits were so expensive.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
Oooh
I like that.
The thing with Anderson Varajao, is I’d play him off the bench.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
bring him in for Nene?
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
Or Moz
Backing up Mozgov, he’d still get starter minutes and get to be part of a fun / energetic second unit with Rudy and Brewer and Al.
And Anderson is the sort of big that I wouldn’t be too worried about closing out games. Karl and I tend to think alike on that, and many other things.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
Makes sense to me
He’s a hard worker and would help us out. maybe we trade afflalo hamilton and a pick for him. Also there’s always room for another flopper.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Everyone is a flopper
These days.
Sad time for the NBA. I will never forgive soccer for this.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
I'm not blaming soccer
I’m blaming officials for not stopping it. They only continue to do it because they can.
SDcat09 - February 1, 2012
I'm blaming Splinter
The Rat / Senei of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
He is usually to blame for all sorts of things.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
good call
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
Why?
Varajao has almost exactly the same stats and size as Nene?
Charles R. Murray - February 1, 2012
he's a much better rebounder and scrappy defender
and has the uptempo energy that would fit in well with this team.
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
As Kevin says
Rebounding.
And he’s taller than Nene. Nene is not 6’11". Anderson just might be.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
Nene looked tiny last night
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
dont think the proposals here are realistic from cleveland's POV
I think any deal starts with Moz and this year’s first rounder. Miller’s expiring contract might have some value to them. Throw in NYs pick next year, and we might be getting there.
Rainbow skyline - February 1, 2012
Reality is such a bitch
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
What does a mother dog have to do with this?
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
Trade proposal
What if we throw together afflalo, miller, and Moz for Verajao and sessions. I don’t want to give up first round picks
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
if we could resign or at least give the QO to chandler
i think id be ok with this. at least it would force GK to have some big players in
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
afflalo
I believe Cleveland would be interested in him. They can pair him up with Kyrie
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
I don't think cleveland takes it
Rainbow skyline - February 1, 2012
i think they would consider it if they drop out of the east playoff hunt
unfortunately, im pretty sure no team is out of the east playoff hunt
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
Yea they look like they'll make the playoffs
pretty easy to do in the Leastern conference
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
They probably won't
I just don’t want to give up first round picks for Verajao
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
I'm okay giving up a first
Especially since Karl hates all rookies unless one of two things are true:
a) They played in North Carolina
b) They are undrafted
nugzin2040 - February 1, 2012
id be fine giving up one of our firsts
but not the first we got from the knicks.
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
Agreed
And it’s not next year’s pick.
RoxWS2014 - February 2, 2012
I feel like Karl hated lawson his first year at Denver
The only reason he’s playing now is because we don’t have two 14+ yr guards.
georgekarl - February 1, 2012
why would you want varejao, before it was oh lets get foster, now it's varejao.
just let this season go, see how far this team can go with karI, and re assess in the off season. also dump affIaIo and chandIer, and anyone eIse we dont reaIIy nd. idk why you guys want to re sign chandIer, he’s going to cost around 8 miI, and that’s going to be as bad as affIaIos, paying aII this money to soIid roIe pIayers is goin to greatIy Iimit this teams abiIity to get any eIite taIent.
Rys - February 1, 2012
Because
Assuming Karl would actually play Varejao, he would give us both interior defense, rebounding and hustle. Would fix many of our problems.
nugzin2040 - February 1, 2012
great assumption
since we already have two 7 footers that have shown some promise and don’t get to play… do you think GK will play two 6-10 guys? no way he’s even startign to take out Galo at the end of the game… what we need is GK to play the right lineups… if he doesn’t he needs to go … we don’t need to give up all these assets to make sure he has no choice but to play the right lineup
EviBina - February 2, 2012
Look at the free agent classes coming out
I HATE the AAA contract and think Chandler’s a ballhog. But there is no elite talent available at that position that is realistic for the Nuggets to acquire. A high draft pick is the only way we get an elite SG. That’s what you trade for IMO
RoxWS2014 - February 2, 2012
February
I see the Nuggets going 10-5 or maybe 9-6.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
if that happens, i would be ecstatic
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
I hope you're right
9-6 is my most optimistic prediction
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
I'm being optimistic
but I can really see it happening.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
8-7 would be a miracle
And I was predicting that before this recent craziness of losing to the Clippers and the Griz.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
I REALLY hope we beat the Clippers tomorrow and Lakers on Friday. If we get those 2 it makes losing to Portland completely acceptable IMO (although I think we’ll lose in PDX either way)
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
I feel the same way.
Denver will be rested vs. the Clips and at home against the Lakers.
Portland is still a winnable game. Maybe Andre will remember to get angry this time and play like he did against Philly?
All I know is that Denver has lost two games in a row before and then answered with some basketball where they exceeded expectations. I’m nowhere near as down on this team as a lot of Stiffs are right now.
Still think February will be a bitch.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
it's going to be horrendous
im going in fully expecting us to go 6-9. im hoping im very wrong and this is the month that pulls everything together but the last two nights have been less than great at assuaging my fears
swmrkev - February 1, 2012
Disagree
I don’t think it will be horrendous
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
the last 2 nights shouldn't be that discouraging.
They absolutely should have won both games, for about five different reasons. We are still very good overall. If we just plain get outclassed it’s more reason to worry.
Rainbow skyline - February 1, 2012
Yes it certainly will be a biatch
but every team in the league is going to have tough parts in their schedule. It’s a good test for us and I’m still optimistic about our chances this year. As someone else said, I’d rather us have some late game struggles at this point in the season instead of the playoffs. The more tough finishes we can gut out in the regular season the better, and we’re going to lose some here and there anyways, the point is getting the experience to be able to over come these things when it really matters.
If we can pull out a winning record this month we should still be in a good position for a top 4 seed in the west.
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
Not trying to be being adversarial,
but clips will be our first rout of the season. Someone said earlier in one of the posts that its good to go against a team we have played, and this would be true if Karl had even a slight bit of problem solving ability, or adapatability…but alas he does not. Clips win going away 111 to 93 IMO.
not_karl - February 1, 2012
Ouch
Want to see some freaking out, have that happen, then lose the next two.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
Might be the wake up call
the coaching staff needs…might be good in the long run. trying to stay positive.
not_karl - February 1, 2012
i think that the clipper game is probably the most winnable one of the b2b2b
theyre coming off a b2b and on the 4th game in 5 nights that included us, okc, and the jazz tonight. thats rough for anybody. plus we will have ty back for it, which i think will help out a lot
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
nah, lakers should be a win
Rainbow skyline - February 1, 2012
Laker game
I think that’s the most winnable because Denver has always played the Lakers tought at home
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
tough
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
We'll have Ty this time
should make a difference on the outcome. If he can tire out CP3 even a little bit we should be able to walk out of there with a W
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
New Rule:
Our two best presidents were born in February. New Rule: All future Presidential candidates must have been born in February.
If I was picking one queen song for the month it would have been Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s very long and full of ups and downs, like the stretch of games this month. Plus I loved rocking out to it with my friends in our cars where the sound system was worth more than the cars. 500 watts of subwoofer and hearing damage as we did our Wayne’s World impersonation.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
The Queen song
definintely not appropriate for this month is: We are the Champions
not_karl - February 1, 2012
so who are we cheering for tonight
in okc at dallas and LAC at utah? im going for utah and (shudder) okc
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
and houston in houston at SA
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
Dallas, Utah, and Houston
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
this
I’ll NEVER root for OKC, especially when they’re the only team standing in our way of that 1st seed
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
fair enough
the only reason i would consider it is because i think that they will get the #1 seed and i want them to beat everyone who is fighting with us for the #2 seed.
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
I can understand that reasoning
but we’re not that far behind them, and we still haven’t even played each other
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
this
SDcat09 - February 1, 2012
i just think that it is very important
to get the 2 seed or at minimum the 3 seed if okc gets the 1. id be thrilled if we got the 1 seed, but barring major events (KD or Westbrick getting hurt or GK playing proper rotations), i think it is unlikely. not impossible, just unlikely. and i would rather face okc in the conference finals than in the 2nd round to build more momentum into it and put more pressure onto them
Kevin #3 - February 1, 2012
If we can't get that top seed
2-4 is alright with me, but I REALLY want that 1seed!!!
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
I'd be happy with a top 4 seed
And winning a playoff series. The gap between the second seed and being out of the playoffs is very, very minimal at this point.
nugzin2040 - February 1, 2012
Again, whoever comes in hot usually ride it out.

Trade Machine
I was fooling around and came up with this. It’s a four team trade between the Nuggets, cavs, Lakers, and Rockets.
Nuggets receive Verajao and Goran Dragic
Cavs receive Luis Scola and Hasheem Thabeet
Rockets receive Pau Gasol
Lakers receive Andre Miller and Courney Lee
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Wait
According to my math, Denver only loses Miller? That can’t be right.
Dragic was good for a bit backing up Nash, but it seems like he’s dropped off the radar. What’s the skinny with him? I could look it up on google, but that’s cheating.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
Dragic
He’s doing well in Houston. i think he’d be a good fit in the backup PG role because he also likes to push the pace
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Dragic
He dropped off the radar becaues he plays in houston
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
I think Flynn is the guard in Houston
Who isn’t doing well. I was nervous it was Dragic, cos I liked him.
I’d be happy with him playing alongside Ty.
You know it is going to happen.
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
They separated the padawan from Jedi Nash.
Kevin L - February 1, 2012
not bad
not that I’m in the trade Andre camp, but this deal is not too bad for anyone, although the Lakers would be pretty bad without Pau IMO
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
Courtney Lee is a stud though
JBnuggs - February 1, 2012
Courtney
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
right Iike the Iakers are goin to trade gasoI for miIIer and Iee.
Rys - February 1, 2012
PG play
Have you seen their point guard play lately? Not good at all. I’m just trying to come up with deals that bring Verajao to Denver
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Maybe if they got luis scola
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
let me see
I’ll keep fooling with the trade machine
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Add chris kaman....
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
To who?
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Lakers i guess or to the cavs
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
not goin to happen for a miIIer. size is much more vaIuabIe, that's why they won those titIes.
Rys - February 1, 2012
excellent point
NO way they give up Pau for a couple of guards, have to replace him with another footer

Yes
Altitude is only on cable or satellite. It sucks.
But watching games online hasn’t been the end-of-the-world for me.
What I need to do is make a friend in my neighborhood who likes the Nuggets, too.

New Trade Guys
Ok I’ve come up with this. It’s a 4 team trade between the nuggets, Cavs, Warriors, and Lakers.
Nuggets receive Verajao and Ramon Sessions.
Warriors receive Pau Gasol
Cavs receive David Lee, Andres Biedrins, and Jordan hamilton
Lakers receive Antawn Jamison and Andre miller
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
lakers would have to get david lee
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
Lakers will only give up Pau if Dwight’s involved.
Kevin L - February 1, 2012
Cavs would never do that deal
Can’t see anyone adding Biedrins. He’s terrible. Cleveland should have amnestied him while they had the chance.
nugzin2040 - February 1, 2012
I think it's a fair trade
I want to see you guys come up with some trades. i’m just trying to get Varejao to denver. Miller would help the Lakers out immensely and Antawn can help them out also.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 1, 2012
Go back to help the Lakers, then stop right there.
Kevin L - February 1, 2012

He hurt his knee early on and hasn't came back in... could be foul trouble tho
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
That was a pretty sketchy fall, but it must be foul trouble.

omg i miss this birdman
5baker5 - February 1, 2012
I would say those days are gone but
He really only had one good season his entire career. That was when he came back to Denver, worked hard to get his contract and spend the rest of his career watching the jumbo-tron instead of what’s happening on court.

OK, Trade Machine. Trade Machine! Here's what I came up with..
how about, we leave this f*******g team alone because we are 32 – 14 since the Gallo trade. How about that, huh?
What teams overhaul rosters that have played .700 ball for more than half a regular season?
And we’ve done it with numerous injuries and lineup shuffles due to lockout and players being in China
Why, because we lost to one very very good team in the playoffs?
sgiustra - February 1, 2012
You will not convince with your reasonableness sir.
I have seen fox news and know that immunity to facts can take you farbin this world.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 1, 2012
It can also take you far.
Kevin L - February 1, 2012
Well I didn't need the trade machine to know THAT!
SDcat09 - February 1, 2012
And 1-4 in the playoffs last year...
CombatChuk - February 1, 2012
Well that part is still pending.
Kevin L - February 1, 2012
yes CC, I reference the 1 - 4
but almost all teams that have won Finals went thru playoff losses in previous years.
So we had 1 and a half starters out and lost to a bad match up, so what? The important thing is what you take out of that loss.
Does it signal we blow up team? Tweak it? Wait on developing players? Fire George Karl?
My take is that the series could have been ours if we would have had a healthy AAA, and (dont laugh) a health Mozgov because we were woefully short against OKC.
We were also led by, sorry to beat this dead horse, Ray Felton, a disastrous decision on Karl’s part, one that he wont be able to make this go around.
Finally, much of that loss was self inflicted via foul shooting chokes.
So all the Garnett proposals would not really do much to correct our problems against the Thunder.
I’ll repeat, we’re about a .700 team and thats with us giving up two games last year because the seedings were set and losing a few games this year that were so so winnable.
I tell you, we have enough to win it all, not be THE favorites but still to win it. It is on George Karl. A wise or poor decision here and there could easily determine whether we realize our potential.
sgiustra - February 2, 2012
addendum
we will not ever beat OKC if Nene is our Center because there is no way that Nene, Gallo and Al could withstand the vertical and horizontal space holding of Perkins and Ibaka, especially Ibaka.
We could withstand Westbrook’s roller coaster play and Durant’s heroics but we can not get torched by Ibaka’s athleticism again and the only real answer to that is a tall athletic Center. We have only one of those.
sgiustra - February 2, 2012
We do
He’s that guy that comes in for 10 minutes a game. What happened to that “He’s gonna be a 25 min. guy THIS YEAR” talk that Karl was spewing not too long ago? Is he really that unimpressed with what Mozzy’s putting out in that time? Because I think we’re all watching the same game and all I’ve seen is genuine progress.

unconsionable offensive foul call on a grififn flop
the clippers are officially the new spurs. Didn’t take long for me to hate them.

That was terrible.

I know we are supposed to hate the Jazz and all
But I kind of like them.
Millsap <3 <3 <3 !!!
Fly Agaric - February 1, 2012
We are going to win 80% of our games in Feb.
I believe in this team, I HAVE FAITH that this team is a legit team and they are going to show all you doubters that they are full of heart and competitive spirit. Just you wait.. this Feb. is going to change how everyone has viewed this team so far.
Don’t trade anyone, STEER THE BOAT, FULL SPEED AHEAD!
CloudBurst - February 2, 2012
in the spirit of the theme, I think you mean
DONT…STOP…ME NOOOOOW!!!
Rainbow skyline - February 2, 2012
That's like 12 games
Crazy talk.
I like it.
Fly Agaric - February 2, 2012
I wish I wish
I had that much confidence. To me they will have to fight and scratch to go .500 because of the over dependance on the smaller veterans. With all due respects to Throw, I am getting weary with the Nuggets having depth, but GK not using it or developing it. Young players can get hammered psychologically if they don’t get in a little. GK says, wistfully, “Yeah I need to find time for these young players but they haven’t had any practice.”
I want the bigs to play more and be pushed to contribute and gain confidence and sprinkle in the rest of the team. I would even out the minutes more and exploit our depth.

If the league had any sense
Instead of making the Nuggets and Lakers fly into Denver during what is looking to be a major weather event, they’d just play Frinight at the Staples Center and make up the game at the Can some other time. Or postpone it, since I don’t think the Nuggets and Lakers are due to meet again. But you get the sense of my thinking.
It saves a lot of traveling, too.
Just my 2ยข.

Pacers looking at Kaman
Apparently, the Pacers are the front runners to trade for Kaman. It will be interesting to see if they pull it off and what they give up to get the deal done. I think the Pacers and 76ers are very similar to the Nuggets. All three are close to being contenders and all three got whacked pretty hard in the playoffs last year. Clearly, the Pacers think they are another piece away, even with a solid front line of Hibbert/West/Hansborough.

"Pacers looking at Kaman"
They’ll probably need to sit down and take a Rolaids

Kenyon Martin
Heat have reportedly offered him a contract. Interesting.
TheMozgovCocktail - February 2, 2012
This is great news
Whatever kmart touches turns to stress fractures so this will by default keep the heat from another championship.
