In last night's game against the Houston Rockets, Danilo Gallinari suffered what is now called a "severe ankle sprain" after undergoing a CT scan and MRI. Apparently the chip fracture that was seen in x-ray's last night was from a long previous injury, most likely suffered before Gallo embarked on his pro playing career.
man gallo is a beast when he wants to be hope he heals soon

So he'd been playing with the slight chip fracture all along?
Amazing. Maybe, hopefully, a shorter-term case of what Harrington went through last season. Foot injuries are on par with knee injuries in how much they can impact your game.
Colin Neilson - February 7, 2012
Tough SOB if that's the case
Jeffrey Morton - February 7, 2012
After watching the replay of his sprain last night, I was very impressed that he walked it off and shot the FTs
Other players would have crumbled and stayed down. Tough kid. I like that a lot.

this...and rec'd
Jeffrey Morton - February 7, 2012
How come that chip has never been detected in
A physical? This may turn into a lingering problem. Void the contract.

Void the contract? Seriously?
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
Clearly the chip was never an issue.
so apparently the chip had nothing to do with what happened. It was just picked up on the x-ray. So Gallo just has a sprained ankle, that is it
Jeffrey Morton - February 7, 2012
Right
I have a chip in my ankle from an injury that occured 15 years ago and never heeled properly. It doesn’t bother me at all.
Pusherman - February 7, 2012
This isn't neccessarily a horrible thing.
Glass half empty -
Nuggets will lose more games this year because of the injuries. This will put them in a tougher position come playoff time.
Glass half full – Nugs will have a clearer picture of their young players by the end of the season, giving them more options further down the line. They’ve also been a decent road team, and it’s not like anyone in the West is running away with anything. OKC? Please, they are running way above their Pythag expectation, and are barely ahead of the Nugs this season (they were behind before yesterday).
The Nuggets still have a shot at the 2 seed, but if they slip to a 7 seed they’ll still have a chance.

It can always
be worse
NewEraNugg - February 7, 2012
Forgot about that...
Not bad!
Seriously, I’m kind of happy all this happened because the Nuggets will now have that chip (no pun intended) on their shoulder. The knock on guys like Faried/Kouf/Hamilton were that they didn’t have enough practice/experience for Karl to “trust” them enough to earn minutes in crucial situations. Karl’s hand being forced will now give him the chance to really see who the best 5 players he can put on the court.

I liked Gallo's approach in the Houston game
He was taking it to the hole when no one else (including Ty) was…it looked like he was saying, “if you guys won’t step up, I will”….and then the injury happened.
Fuck ankles!
Jeffrey Morton - February 7, 2012
I don't think you
can actually do that last sentence…..
