In last night's game against the Houston Rockets, Danilo Gallinari suffered what is now being called a, "severe ankle sprain" after undergoing a CT scan and MRI today. Apparently the chip fracture that was seen in X-ray's last night was from a previous injury, most likely suffered before Gallo embarked on his pro-playing career. Read Benjamin Hochman's full story here from the Denver Post.

I think this is one of the "better case" scenarios considering all the options from an ankle injury.
Hope Gallo can trim the recovery time to less than a month. Let’s pick up the slack, Nuggs!
neumdaddy - February 7, 2012
It's good news
but it’s still could be a month. Who’s going to pick up the slack on the offensive end for this team?
TheMozgovCocktail - February 7, 2012
Afflahahahaha I can't do it
Colin Neilson - February 7, 2012
I would like to think Lawson
But I don’t think Lawson is 100% either. Remember way back when we said we’d be fine without JR’s offense? Oops.
Colin Neilson - February 7, 2012
maybe the sight of Jason Terry on Wednesday
will bring back all those good feelings, and he’ll torch the Mavs
nugz4rollz - February 7, 2012
Speaking of difficult to spell names
There is apparently a woman on reality tv who spells her name Blakeley. It just looks wrong, and I’m pretty sure she only pronounces two of the three syllables there.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 7, 2012
Blay-kelly?
Colin Neilson - February 7, 2012
Now Karl can go with his small big at the start of games
LEEDS - February 7, 2012
Keep in mind that, because of the All Star Break...Gallo may be only losing about 12 games
that should be a positive.
Jeffrey Morton - February 7, 2012
That's a positive Jeff
However we cannot afford to fall behind in the West. I just don’t think we have a solid scoring threat
TheMozgovCocktail - February 7, 2012
But those twelve games are almost all against winning teams
difficult games. Going to be tough.

Awww, now the headline could have been
“Gallo could miss as little as one month” to give a positive spin!
Optimist Warriors are disappoint, Jeff. :(
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
Someone needs to hire you to write newspaper headlines:
“ROBBERS ONLY STEAL 90% OF THE CASH!”
“FIERY CRASH LEAVES SPARE TIRE UNDAMAGED, DRIVER WILL ONLY BE IN A COMA FOR 6 MONTHS!”
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 7, 2012
Exactly!
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
I read the rules of the internet today
you are in violation of rule #30.
This knee thing has left me incapable of focusing, so I’m bored.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 7, 2012
I'm not interested in your internetz rulz buddy
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
you really wouldn't like #31
Not my rules. Apparently the internet made the rules.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 7, 2012
I've read them
I reject them
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
Sorry, the rules are the rules
apparently the internet punishes violators pretty severely. Facial Unicorn Tattoo in at least one instance I read about.
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 7, 2012
Yeah but I don't exist so good luck finding me

thanks for giving me a laugh. Really needed considering we are smoking towards 10 place in the WC.

samesies
ParkHillNative - February 7, 2012
well except that actually doesn't mean the same thing
and means something worse than the original headline.
atomiccafe - February 7, 2012
But the interpretation by seeing little
is better…
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
how about “Gallinari could return within a month?”
atomiccafe - February 7, 2012
That's good too...
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
I will say that even though you never want this to happen because of injuries, I think Gallo was suffering from significant fatigue at times, and missing 12 games will get his season-long minute load down to a reasonable area for the dense schedule.
atomiccafe - February 7, 2012
But, for optimists Cat & Jeff
Yeah it could have been worst. Also we do have guys in Gallos position that could take up slack. Thats not my real concern.
The real issue is the number of injuries to so many important players. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I used to have sympathy for Trailblazers losing a couple of their stars but geez its easier to make up for 1 or 2 great losses than 4, 5, 6 important losses.
Yes I’m feeling sorry for us.
Frankly, I’m also annoyed at anyone (like at RBM) who write "injuries arent an excuse. Yes, but up to a point.
This many injuries doesnt entitle you to constantly whine but who can seriously believe that the number of manpower games we will lose in the 1st two months wont mean that we’re often fielding a very poor team?
I cant imagine a team that could withstand the injuries and plow forward. What makes it worst yet is that any fall back is particularly hard to make up for in the Western C.
“If it wurent fur bad luck, weed hafv no luck atull.”
sgiustra - February 7, 2012
Will we see jordan hamilton?
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
So sad!
Poor Nuggets.
Would really like to see some Wilson Chandler now.
Fly Agaric - February 7, 2012
All we can do now is hope his team is out of the playoffs
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
Chauncey is out for the year
Link
sad day for him and the clippers. mixed feelings on this as i miss the guy and want the best for him but it kind of helps our chances in the playoffs if we face them
Kevin #3 - February 7, 2012
Except the Clippers already had strong depth at PG
It will hurt them on the leadership front, too, but positionally-speaking, the Clippers could’ve had a more devastating injury. The Clippers will still give all the top teams in the West fits even without Billups.
Still, I feel really bummed for Chauncey.
neumdaddy - February 7, 2012
Yeah it sucks for him
I’m expecting JR to sign with the Clips for sure now.
donwoe - February 7, 2012
I doubt he's signing with ANYONE for the minimum
and that’s all they can offer him
JBnuggs - February 7, 2012
He was their starting 2, not 1
ThrowItDownBigManThrowItDown - February 7, 2012
Let's not kid ourselves. He was a modified PG, even if he's less of a true PG than CP3.
neumdaddy - February 7, 2012
wonder if cbill's career is over?
Hope not.
InboundingLobPass - February 7, 2012 via mobile
just heard a sound bite from Chauncey
He won’t retire! Whew
InboundingLobPass - February 8, 2012 via mobile
i hope jordan hamilton gets the start
Just cause.
Monkfish - February 7, 2012 via mobile
OT: the Lakers released Derrick Caracter today
If you all remember correctly the Nuggets were targeting this guy in the 2010 draft. He teamed with Julyan Stone at UTEP and at one point in high school was ranked higher than Lebron James (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/sports/ncaabasketball/18caracter.html?pagewanted=1). Might the Nuggets revisit him?
NugNugz - February 7, 2012
We don't need anymore "caracter" guys on this squad.
SDcat09 - February 7, 2012
well played.
NugNugz - February 7, 2012
Unless something goes wrong….
Kevin L - February 7, 2012
Were gonna have a huge void to vill off the bench.. i expect harrington gets the start tomorrow
so who plays SF off the bench until brewer gets back? hamilton?
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
Sure would be nice to have DeMare Carrol.
Miss you buddy! Didn’t know how could it could be to have another forward off the bench.
Fly Agaric - February 7, 2012
that one is backfiring on the nuggs haha
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
Carrol got picked up by the jazz
tknuckle - February 7, 2012 via mobile
J goin Ham time!
looks like he has a pretty nice jumper
JBnuggs - February 7, 2012
I am hoping he will play.. but if he didn't play last night then i doubt he plays tomorrow
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
most likely
we’re probably gonna see a LOT of small ball tomorrow….Ty, Dre, AAA, Rudy and Al all in in crunch time
/barf
JBnuggs - February 7, 2012
uh oh.... upside is dallas wont have much size on us.. they have bad centers dont they?
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
Haywood=an overpaid K2
JBnuggs - February 7, 2012
Dirk (not a center), Haywood (lol), Ian Mahinmi (loll) Lamar Odom (not a center)
Colin Neilson - February 7, 2012
three positives come from this
Gallo gets much needed rest, our chances of re-upping Chandler are that much better, and it gives someone the chance to step up.
Mancar - February 7, 2012
Anyone else going to the Dallas Game
ill be in section 140!!!! let me know.
Mancar - February 7, 2012
I'll be there too
Right next to you. Section 142 on aisle next to 140
The U.N. Fab Five - February 7, 2012 via mobile
This guy can't get back soon enough.
the real stranger - February 7, 2012
Lets hope his china team misses the playoffs
5baker5 - February 7, 2012
They're playing one of the worst teams in the CBA
tomorrow… will probably win that one. His team matches up with the 2nd, 6th (Jr’s team), 14th and 16th place teams in the CBA to finish the season.
nugzin2040 - February 7, 2012
Would be great to somehow watch JR and Chandler play somehow.
Fly Agaric - February 7, 2012
Chandler purposely tanking?
His team lost to one of the worst teams. The article said he has not been aggressive at all, just shooting jumpers and no defense. And now almost definitely won’t be in the playoffs! February 15th he’ll be back!
Guangsha – 100 @ Shanxi – 107
UKnowULovedVanQwik - February 8, 2012
I'm not so worried that its a month only
I’m just worried its a lingering injury that can affect him until next season.
CloudBurst - February 7, 2012
Poor Chauncey……….
Kevin L - February 8, 2012
Start Jordan Hamilton
At least he can shoot
gonugs - February 8, 2012
Actually a starting lineup of...
Ty, AAA, Hamilton, Nene and 2K with a bench of Dre, Rudy, Faried, Al, and Bird isnt too bad. When Brewer comes back he could either start or sub for Hamilton. Im interested to see what this kid has. We know he can shoot and this team needs a shooter.
