We’re in a funk, and it makes it harder to make that little extra effort. Your body just doesn’t seem to respond as quickly, and you are more apt to settle – both on offense and defense.
I am pissed that whenever someone drives on us, they get a foul call, but when we drive, we need to get mugged before the refs even consider it. It’s not why we’re losing or playing bad, but is sure doesn’t help
Nugs will finally get a win @ Pacers on Sat since a road game will get them into grit mode. They’ll use that as a little bit of encouragement to take it to the Suns, and then avenge themselves against the Griz & Mavs afterwards. That 4 game win streak will have them pumped up to destroy the Thunder next Sunday. “The Association” will have a great plot line of how the Nuggets went into this terrible funk, but found their way out and got back to their winning ways right into the playoffs.
but until the Nuggets show teams the ability to hit jump shots consistently, we’re going to continue to see the same thing. Teams sagging off and clogging the lane, giving no room ot drivers or cutters.
right now, teams know that all the Nuggets can do is drive and run. They don’t have anyone on the team with a mid-range game. There is no one who consistently threatens the defense from deep. Earlier in the year, when we were winning, we would have players get hot from deep occasionally, and now we’re not. No team feels it necessary to guard us outside of the paint.
Its painfully obvious we lack shooting. I think thats why masai and josh are saying we are still a few pieces away. We need a couple pure shooters to keep teams honest.
We’re in free-fall mode. This team is out of confidence. With the Lakers and (likely) Rockets winning tonight, we’ll probably be nearing a slot outside of the top 8. Damn you, Denver.
Six games in eight days against some pretty good squads,
and how many starters missed games in that stretch. We all knew that the schedule was not in our favor in Feb. even with a full compliment of players, much less with all the injuries Am I concerned…sure but do I think we are done…Hell no!
I can see reasons for keeping him and I can see reasons for firing him.
I don’t really see that making a coaching change at this point of the season will change anything and might make things worse. Perhaps in the offseason.
The Magic Curse is a really bad one. I want the lottery rather than this bs.
Get some new blood, Karl’s run and gun scheme is getting old.
The only thing I can think of is this is some kind of ploy for the association???? This really makes no sense even with the injuries.
Rudy came out with fire tonight going 4/5.
Karl thinks “hey, he’s killing it…I’ll keep him out there.”
Karl plays Rudy for 21 minutes straight.
Rudy has an overall crappy game cause he is too worn out.
George doesn’t think a few steps ahead, he thinks in the moment. George would be a horrid chess player.
We have a good core of players. We have a bad coach that wore them out and can’t motivate them over the hump. And before you say that’s on the players, it is and isn’t. A coach’s job is the get the best from his players and clearly George is not doing that because instead of adapting, instead of thinking a few steps ahead, he is clinging to his tired, stubborn habits.
At some point, at the professional level, players must motivate themselves. It’s part of what they get paid millions of dollars to do. This isn’t college or high school. IMO the head coach is responsible for play calling, rotations and playing time.
Bet ya think poor people can just "pull themselves up" by their bootstraps, too.
Yes, it is on the players to be mentally tough. I’m actually I saw AAA get so upset tonight that he played with the fire and resolve he had last year.
But when you’re play calling is terrible, your rotations and line ups make little sense, and you don’t make playing time for the energetic, healthy, give it all I got guys, then how exactly do we win?
I agree. Karl is Karl, I will always have issues with some of his decisions but
he is the same coach that believes in our players and got us off to a hot start. Now we have injuries and we aren’t as deep as we were a week ago. Missing 2 starters and 3 out of our first 8 in the rotation has more to do with our losses in the past week than George does.
i noticed defenders are playing lawson a step back or two,
makes it so he can’t drive past and every team knows he can’t shoot. Takes away nuggets penetration game, and with no other options on offense (please hurry back Gallo) teams crowd paint or play zone…new strategy time George
We have no one who threatens the defense consistently from outside the paint. Maybe Hamilton could be, or if AAA is truly coming out of his funk, or if Rudy becomes consistent. Right now, however, no team we play respects our outside shooting. They pack the lane because that’s the only place we can score. We can’t even make ft’s consistently right now.
so to speak. Sag off the outside players and clog the lane. The Nuggets will get frustrated and start chucking up a bunch of off balance 3’s, where they are shooting as a team like negative a billion percent.
The thing with firing Karl, or making a coaching change right now,
is that the team already doesn’t get any practice time, what with the ridiculous schedule this year. When is, say, Sloan going to get the opportunity to install his stuff? When is any coach going to be able to change the way we play significantly? If we were to make a change, we could look to having even more ugly games, or, alternatively, have the new coach ride out the season with Karl’s system. I’m not sure that a change would truly be a positive step.
We don’t have the shooters to run a “conventional” offense, as this past week has shown. If we make a change in style, we might as well blow it up and bring in a new set of players.
play jordan hamilton more, he might be the best answer but he can shoot
corey brewer from twitter “Man I hate watching my guys struggle keep your heads up nuggets we gonna be fine we just gotta keep working and get healthy.”
nope been watching nuggs since they drafted mutombo
and they had marcus liberty and cadillac anderson. not a big karl fan though. I call it as i see it. just my opinion. if that makes me a troll then rock on!
player development coordinator named Patrick Mutumbo? He is not related to Dikembe but he was an excellent ball player himself. He played for Metro State and won lots of awards.
I can solve all of Denver's problems with one trade
I am a life long Knicks fan. I love the Nuggets also (mostly because you have a few of my favorite Knicks). We will gladly trade you Melo for Gallo/Chandler and a first round pick. :-)
I think Lawson needs to spend the entire off season (because he won’t get a chance before then) shooting thousands of 10-15ft pull-up jumpers a day. Players will continue to back off him until he shows he can hit them consistently
If everyone is civil I will allow a lively conversation. Joking is always allowed. It’s print so sometimes you have to explain yourself. Nature of the beast
Team isn’t likely to make a major trade imo. They’d try to dump birdman if they could, but it’s unlikely. Could trade Al I guess, if there was a team interested. Both guys brought in under a previous GM anyways. Doubt there’s any attachment to either.
i was stoked about moving from HNL to DEN this spring so I could go watch a playoff game in the Can… now it looks like we might not make the post season. i hope this is just a funk and not an irreversible change.
This was a brutal stretch of the schedule from both a quality of opponent perspective and lack of rest. The Nuggets are dead tired, Gallo is out, and several other players are either playing hurt or have been in and out of the line up. We just have to hope we to hang in there until the all star break, Then everyone will get healthy and be rested and we’ll make another run!
1. Kenneth Faried finally had 10 rebounds, and i liked his defensive energy…he needs more time but I think he will be really good next season
2. AAA was glad to see him get a little fiery. The fact he was guarding 6’10", 245 pound Udoh in the paint when things got chippy (speaks volumes of Karl’s undersized line-ups) is another subject. But AAA plays better mad and it was nice to see him shoot with some confidence.
3. J ham has a nice looking 3 ball. Could he be the shooter we need with Gallo out?
immediately after finding out the results of Gallo’s x-rays I threw out the suggestion of a trade and got cyberly yelled at by many of you suggesting there will be a trade. What’s changed? That we’re losing without our best player and budding center?
IT's clear the tight rotations are hurtng the team now..
The Nuggs are dinged up, tired, dead legs, mentally out of it. Some of us have been saying that George needs to go way deep down his bench and lighten up the minutes for the regulars. This team just looks dead tired, mentally and physically. Time loosen the rotations and give the young guns some run. Dre, Nene, Al, Ty and AAA need some down time.

First real comment
Good end to the second quarter, I feel that Golden State is not adjusting to us taking our man one on one and relying too much on weak side defense.
CloudBurst - February 9, 2012
This man knows how the game is played.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Nene has been soft

SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Are you excited that the new Walking Dead season will have 16 episodes?
CloudBurst - February 9, 2012
You mean this season. The remaining 10?
I will be excited if they continue on a good track after the mid-ish season finale.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Season 3 hasn't came out though?
Am I missing something?
CloudBurst - February 9, 2012
Were you talking about Season 3?
I didn’t know that.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012

I just hope they get off the damn farm already.
CloudBurst - February 9, 2012
If they don't they might lose my viewership
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Oh, and come on Boston
Beat the Lakers. I forgot how much I realized I dislike that team ever since they beat us.
CloudBurst - February 9, 2012
Rondo!
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I liked our offense, but I would really like to see us step up on the PnR defense.
We’re not hedging strong, waaaaay to soft a show on a lot of them (I’m looking at you, Nene)
Russscot - February 9, 2012
I think either Faried or K2
Need to be on the court at all times to gobble rebounds.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
That's kooky talk
They aren’t point guards or Rudy.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012

KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
I think the point is
A test-tube zygote could be frozen, and thus nullify Cat’s point.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
No my point is that I have watched the Nuggets
many many many years.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012

georgekarl - February 9, 2012

Ridiculous off-topic tangent is ridiculous, as you like to say.

They are nurtured into blastocysts prior to insemination.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012

Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Meiosis is cell division for eukaryotes
Blastocyst means living cell.
Insemination means ….
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012

georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Uh, no.
Meiosis is the process by which haploid gametes (sperm and egg cells) are formed. A blastocyst arises, via mitosis (not meiosis), after fertilization, from a diploid zygote, whether that be in vitro or in vivo. With a “test tube baby” a zygote is nurtured, in vitro, into a blastocyst prior to implantation, not insemination.

Uh. Weren't we all excited about how this team was built
like 2 weeks ago?
Same players, just several are injured.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
No, not me.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I'd say 95% of Stiffs were happy with our personnel.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Strangely, I agree with Kat
The players aren’t playing well, but I think a lot of that lies on GK. The players and Masai are not as to blame.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Cat*
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
I think the players are playing poorly right now
but that doesn’t mean they are bad players.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Agreed.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
that's on Karl
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
YEP!
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Tired and beaten up players is not necessarily on Karl.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Unless he’s beating them up with a whip.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Disagree
Should have been using the deep end of the bench and developed the rookies by playing them ever so often.
Look how much time Rudy has played tonight. He played 21 minutes straight in the first half. What has he done since? Kind of symbolic of our season.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Well I was asking how Masai figured into your comment.
Not saying anything about Karl FWIW
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Wheels appeared to be coming off before the Gallo injury
People have us figured out, pack the lanes because we can’t shoot outside
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
I do agreed that teams have figured us out
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
And we lost a third of our guys…..
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
They've adjusted and we haven't
But we’ve also been bitten by the injury bug complicating things
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Cat.
You are making sense tonight.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Don't do it. Don't even do it.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Just did.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
I’m stopping this before it starts.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
thank you
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
LOL
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Honestly. What for?
Why do that?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
LOL I'm not being snarky.
I gave you a compliment.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Back handed if I've ever heard
But if that’s what you intended …fine.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Don’t.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Strange complaint coming from you.
So I will take back my compliment, because you have gone back into crazy town.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
sigh…..
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
This is like my mum and dad when I was little
Either one of them had to have the last word.
I’m still traumatized by it.
Talking, I mean.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Word
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Falls on Karl again
Masai gets blame for not giving us a player that can create a shot
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
He did.
He balled so hard his ankle hurtin’.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Gallo doesn't qualify?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Balled so hard his ankle hurtin’
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Need more than Gallo and Harrington
That’s why Masai high tailed it to China to try to get Wilson Chandler back, he’s better at creating a shot then Gallinari
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
So he’s actually getting someone who creates their own shots?
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Yup I give Masai for making a move
But what happens when Gallinari comes back?
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
We have two guys who create their shots?
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Look I think if you wanna rag on Karl, have at it
but Masai has done a tremendous job…
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
really?
Wasn’t it just about two weeks ago we were praising Masai as the GM of the year? This team will get through this. We, and they, need to be patient.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
THIS
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
this
NC Gold - February 9, 2012
Good.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Lawson looks tired.
He should not have played in Lithuania.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
YAY THE WARRIORS ONLY LEAD BY 13
The ENTIRE team has looked totally gassed this entire month. Just awful. Nuggets need the All-Star break badly
Colin Neilson - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Maybe George could give J-ham some meaningful minutes now and again
What’s the harm? The kid can shoot.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
haha nice one
Colin Neilson - February 9, 2012 via mobile
I know
What a concept. Developing rookies. Resting hurt/tired players.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
So. Sick. Of. Jump. Shots.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012

Danteslion - February 9, 2012

Russscot - February 9, 2012
Fucking terribad call
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Nene is playing pissed tonight.
I LIKE IT! Now if the rest of the team would just step up with him.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Denver backcourt: 13-39
That’s fucking shameful
Colin Neilson - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Watching the warriors block a shot, steal the rebound and run the ball to the other end and jam it in.
That used to be a Nuggets move.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
It's gotta start on D
We really need to step up on the defensive end.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Truth
This team’s offense is best when the defense is playing well/hard.
EmersonCR - February 9, 2012
This is making me f**king depressed
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
Now we're reaching on D...not moving our feet, looking tired and frustrated
Russscot - February 9, 2012
hey guys, was out of town for a week
didn’t watch tv or look at the internet. WTF happened?!
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
:(
holyMonkey - February 9, 2012
Injuries and poor coaching
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
The world is ending.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Should’ve bought a Chevy.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Advertising works
EmersonCR - February 9, 2012
While you were gone Ty changed his name to Tyred
and other not so good things.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
heh.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
We became the Washington Generals
The_WJM - February 9, 2012 via Android app
Nope
That’s still the Wizards.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Believe it or not
the Wizards are not the worst team in the league
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
That’s up for debate. But I will open a can of whoopass on anyone that says we’re one of them now.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
I won't say that
The Hornets are pretty awful
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
C'mon guys we're only down 20
The_WJM - February 9, 2012 via Android app
Warriors are playing the "no lay up" rule...
and it’s working.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Go Kings.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Wouldn't it be nice if we had a shooter who could stretch the D?
Russscot - February 9, 2012
That was killer
Nuggets actually playing great D, hand in face, etc, and they still hit the 3.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Is it just me or
does everybody shoot the lights out against us
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
Not you.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Warriors = Murphy’s Law. Live by the 3, Die by it.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Living by it well tonight
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Yep.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
OOO
I hope we sub in Julyan Stone at center!
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012

Danteslion - February 9, 2012
holy crap
i hope this is a funk
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
It feels like every team we play is hitting everything recently.
almost like it doesn’t matter if we play D or not.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Watch Nene and only Nene
Then you will see why Masai is partially to blame in this mess.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
And AAA
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
....no way we can come back
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
Pathetic
Colin Neilson - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Also,
I am pissed that whenever someone drives on us, they get a foul call, but when we drive, we need to get mugged before the refs even consider it. It’s not why we’re losing or playing bad, but is sure doesn’t help
Russscot - February 9, 2012
why aren't they booing?
Rainbow skyline - February 9, 2012
they all went home :p
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Good point.
Maybe I’ll go to our next loss so I can boo.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Booing stinks
I might call for a trade or a firing but I will never boo the Nuggets
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
this
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
I'd boo you and heckle you if I could afford the seats.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
And why are you posting.
COACH THE GAME!
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
I already coached today
I told the guys “If you just go out there and score more points than the other team you will win.” What more is there to say?
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Booing for lack of effort
is different than booing the team.
It does sound the same, however.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Maybe they don't think booing their own team
effective?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
I disagree
sometimes it’s deserved, and might shake them up.
Rainbow skyline - February 9, 2012
I'm booing from Highlands Ranch
Their microphones must not be picking it up
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
I'm here in the Springs booing
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
Because they’ve seen worse?
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
I do remember the Bernie Bickerstaff era
Ugh.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
It's hard to boo with tears tunning down your cheeks
holyMonkey - February 9, 2012
Nice.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
CAN YOU HEAR THE FAT LADY SING
samdman - February 9, 2012
Three things i take away from this game
1. The refs still suck
2. The Nuggets are playing with no heart
3. Fire George Karl!
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
Faried and Stone have received almost no time in the 2nd half
You’re a stubborn, terrible coach, Karl.
Colin Neilson - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Nope.
Faried is back in when the game is out of hand because clearly the lineup without him was working effectively.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
If Udoh wasn't playing...
Nene would fall down for lack of having someone to hang onto.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Nene is the only player for the Nuggets who has shown any heart tonight
Russscot - February 9, 2012
I agree. I was just joking in my "first" comment
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Rudy played hard in the 1st half
but played too long without a rest.
EmersonCR - February 9, 2012
How about more points and less heart if thats what it takes.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
No defense...at all
Russscot - February 9, 2012
I wonder when our next win is gonna be?
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
i predict
Nugs will finally get a win @ Pacers on Sat since a road game will get them into grit mode. They’ll use that as a little bit of encouragement to take it to the Suns, and then avenge themselves against the Griz & Mavs afterwards. That 4 game win streak will have them pumped up to destroy the Thunder next Sunday. “The Association” will have a great plot line of how the Nuggets went into this terrible funk, but found their way out and got back to their winning ways right into the playoffs.
That or they’ll win sometime in March.
nugz4rollz - February 9, 2012
Right now
I’ll take the latter
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
On the plus side
I can watch BBT to cheer me up…..
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
At this point
I think it’s becoming abundantly clear that this team is in a deep, deep funk…
more than that though, we should ask ourselves if George Karl is the right man to coach a young (ish) team. I think the answer is becoming very clear
Jeffrey Morton - February 9, 2012
BLASPHEMY
HE IS AN ALLTIME WINNER, JEFF.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
I agree Jeff
I’ve been saying Karl needs to go everyday this week
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
Need a hard ass
Jerry Sloan please.
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
Don’t think he wants to take on the grind again.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
Oh hell no
Not You
samdman - February 9, 2012
I'm getting to the point where I can't see what's going on and ignore it anymore
Karl can’t seem to motivate a ham sandwich…and this young team can’t seem to pull itself out of the funk.
I’m not sure George is capable of motivating/coaching a young team
Jeffrey Morton - February 9, 2012
Better be careful
you might be accused of panicking
samdman - February 9, 2012
Don't you mean where you CAN see what's going on and can't ignore it anymore?
samdman - February 9, 2012
where is
Todd Lichti when we need him?
not_karl - February 9, 2012
on the bright side stifffs
strongest draft since 2003, coming up if this continues
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012

Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
JR
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
andre drummond
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012

Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Fab Melo

Fly was talking about Fab melo
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012

OFS?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012

TyLawesome - February 9, 2012

Kevin L - February 9, 2012

SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
ofs?
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
Kind of off topic but I really like Beidrins haircut
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Fresh Prince amirite?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
When did we sign The Fresh Prince?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
I've said it about past games,
but until the Nuggets show teams the ability to hit jump shots consistently, we’re going to continue to see the same thing. Teams sagging off and clogging the lane, giving no room ot drivers or cutters.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
To continue....
right now, teams know that all the Nuggets can do is drive and run. They don’t have anyone on the team with a mid-range game. There is no one who consistently threatens the defense from deep. Earlier in the year, when we were winning, we would have players get hot from deep occasionally, and now we’re not. No team feels it necessary to guard us outside of the paint.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Agreed
Its painfully obvious we lack shooting. I think thats why masai and josh are saying we are still a few pieces away. We need a couple pure shooters to keep teams honest.
gonugs - February 9, 2012 via Android app
Ouch, Nuggets. Ouch.
We’re in free-fall mode. This team is out of confidence. With the Lakers and (likely) Rockets winning tonight, we’ll probably be nearing a slot outside of the top 8. Damn you, Denver.
neumdaddy - February 9, 2012
Nuggets in the early season were a totally different team.
Not sure we could beat the Pistons right now.
Colin Neilson - February 9, 2012 via mobile
That may have something to do with having all your guns in a knife fight.
Kevin L - February 9, 2012
I'm going to cry into my Gallinari jersey
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
J-Ham

TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
Mark Jackson
rookie coach, Kicked Ass
samdman - February 9, 2012
I think it might have something to do with
Steph Curry being completely unconscious. Did you see that shot chart? Guy only attempted one layup and only missed 4 times all night
Russscot - February 9, 2012
It's like we keep running into these players
that go unconscious with us. Why? It’s the most bizarre thing
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
To me that would under the title of
being prepared. and knowing who can hurt you
samdman - February 9, 2012
the coaches Job
samdman - February 9, 2012
I don't think that's the case for Curry.
He just shot lights out all night – no matter what D was played on him. But I do agree you need to be prepared for player’s tendencies and strength
Russscot - February 9, 2012
But even unexpected players have done that too.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
come on j-ham
show karl why people said you were the best scorer in the draft
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
memo to karl: time to try a different strategy

not_karl - February 9, 2012
I'm in the chocolate phase of despair
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Didn't get a chance to watch the game tonight.
Only had the ESPN score alerts after each quarter. What happened?!
Agaliarept - February 9, 2012
Nothing good
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Lets just say the warriors think its garbage time now.
and we thought it all night long.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Crazy good shooting from GS
Crazy bad defense from Nuggets.
Blah blah blah.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
collapse on D in the third, combined with the inability to make even a layup.
and the Warriors as a team becoming unable to miss…at all
Russscot - February 9, 2012
These guys are too tired. They need more rest than the schedule can give them.
Popovich would just give his guys a night off as needed. Why won’t karl do that?
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
i take it you have something against karl?
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
I think it was a question not a statement
But yeah, I’m not a fan.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Because it's George Karl
the dude is a terrible strategist
TheMozgovCocktail - February 9, 2012
AAA
the high scorer for nuggs tonight!
not_karl - February 9, 2012
AAA!!!!!
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Six games in eight days against some pretty good squads,
and how many starters missed games in that stretch. We all knew that the schedule was not in our favor in Feb. even with a full compliment of players, much less with all the injuries Am I concerned…sure but do I think we are done…Hell no!
NC Gold - February 9, 2012
I'm with you
Grumpy about this funk.
But it’s a long season.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012

Can you put that on your Optimism Warrior card and have it laminated?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
LOL @ refs

What the heck was that ??
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
dont't bail him out!
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Hey George Karl
Look at how much heart and energy the rookies are playing with out there.
What? You can’t find minutes for them? They aren’t fully developed? You like 7-8 man rotations? okay.
15-12
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Still 3 games over .500!
Ugh.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Karl should take note about how the Rookies are playing with a fire under their nuts
Time to bench some starters and play these rookies
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
Did you notice how Stone actually is running the ball up on every chance?
Russscot - February 9, 2012
I'm done with Dre after this game
Dude stops the ball wayyyy too much, time to go young
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
So you don't like Karl's coaching
and Dre is basically the floor coach…..
I
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
We are at the point where it doesn't really make sense that George is the coach.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
That was really a comment about Dre
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Yeah but you keep defending the guy
I think its beyond that now.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I haven't defended Karl
I say very little to nothing about Karl.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
So whats your stance then?
Keep George or fire him?
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I have no stance.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Hah!
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I think we should keep him
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
For parts?
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
A coaching change, midseason
Won’t fix Gallo’s ankle. Or Moz’s.
It won’t make Nene a dunker. It won’t make Ty taller. It won’t make Andre less grumpy. What’s the point?
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Not running the heck out of who we currently have
So they don’t get injured too. Crazy I know.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Seriously. I don't.
I can see reasons for keeping him and I can see reasons for firing him.
I don’t really see that making a coaching change at this point of the season will change anything and might make things worse. Perhaps in the offseason.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
i have a stance.
unless you’re locked into something better, there’s no point in firing GK. contrary to popular belief, there ARE worse coaches out there.
nugz4rollz - February 9, 2012
I'd hire Jeff Bzdelik
samdman - February 9, 2012
Why not? We're losing anyway

The rookies in at the right time and cutting the lead down.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
It's a repeat of the Houston game.
Close game despite the fact that we never really got a run started.
What does that tell you? Not that the players suck but that the strategy is wrong.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
what is GK going to draw up now?
nugz4rollz - February 9, 2012
speaking of hamilton being a talennted scorer....

ok now we've got plenty of drama for our show "the association"
let’s go on a 10 game winning streak now
TyLawesome - February 9, 2012
see above (somewhere)
but I agree that it’s gonna build the show great. i only predict a 4 streak into a fifth win vs OKC though.

I'm now trolling the Denver Nuggets twitter account
My response:

The Magic Curse is a really bad one. I want the lottery rather than this bs.
Get some new blood, Karl’s run and gun scheme is getting old.
The only thing I can think of is this is some kind of ploy for the association???? This really makes no sense even with the injuries.
JR15 - February 9, 2012 via mobile
The run and gun probley caused most of the injuries
tknuckle - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Lockout shortened season
compressing a ridiculous amount of games into a short period of time with no recovery time between games is more likely
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
maybe AAA or Nene,
but both Gallo and Moz had ankle rolls that had nothing to do with fatigue/tired adjustments
Russscot - February 9, 2012
7-8 man rotations coupled with
Weight training, practice, and travel.
It was only a matter of time till players started dropping like flies.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Needs
We need Gallo
Mozgov
Brewer
Chandler
The team that is losing games since Moz went down with us having a lead vs lakers, are the denver nuggets not THE Denver Nuggets
I dont like GK but he has nothing to do with this downturn
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
Yes he does
Bad rotations/refusal to develop rookies = tired bodies and injuries
Not motivating the team.
etc.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Funny but when we had a healthy squad and
George was still a bad coach, we were still 15 – 6. His stupid coaching didnt hurt us that much.
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
How George coaches is how he played Rudy tonight
Rudy came out with fire tonight going 4/5.
Karl thinks “hey, he’s killing it…I’ll keep him out there.”
Karl plays Rudy for 21 minutes straight.
Rudy has an overall crappy game cause he is too worn out.
George doesn’t think a few steps ahead, he thinks in the moment. George would be a horrid chess player.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
maybe Kev but
no coach turns bad players into good ones. As presently constituted, we have little talent.
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
That's ridiculous
We have a good core of players. We have a bad coach that wore them out and can’t motivate them over the hump. And before you say that’s on the players, it is and isn’t. A coach’s job is the get the best from his players and clearly George is not doing that because instead of adapting, instead of thinking a few steps ahead, he is clinging to his tired, stubborn habits.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
Here's the thing
At some point, at the professional level, players must motivate themselves. It’s part of what they get paid millions of dollars to do. This isn’t college or high school. IMO the head coach is responsible for play calling, rotations and playing time.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Bet ya think poor people can just "pull themselves up" by their bootstraps, too.
Yes, it is on the players to be mentally tough. I’m actually I saw AAA get so upset tonight that he played with the fire and resolve he had last year.
But when you’re play calling is terrible, your rotations and line ups make little sense, and you don’t make playing time for the energetic, healthy, give it all I got guys, then how exactly do we win?
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
ya have to have bootstraps to pull yourself up by them
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
NC Gold - February 9, 2012
Agreed NC, I dont like Karl but
you cannot win with just desire. You have to have the forces too
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
That lose puts us 9th in the west.
Weren’t we 2nd just a week ago? Just fucking terrible.
tknuckle - February 9, 2012 via mobile
i noticed defenders are playing lawson a step back or two,
makes it so he can’t drive past and every team knows he can’t shoot. Takes away nuggets penetration game, and with no other options on offense (please hurry back Gallo) teams crowd paint or play zone…new strategy time George
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Not just on Ty, but on all our perimeter players.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Gallo?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
He's good outside and inside.
(this is not a Gallo joke)
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Why not?
You have something against Gallo jokes? Huh? Do you?
Agaliarept - February 9, 2012
I just wanted to make it clear
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Twas a joke.
Agaliarept - February 9, 2012
I KNOW!!!!
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Gallo has been inconsistent at best this year,
and besides, we don’t have him right now :p (I know you know this)
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Maybe I read your comment wrong
I thought you were saying overall for the season. My bad
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
I think the NBA has the "book" on the Nuggets now
so to speak. Sag off the outside players and clog the lane. The Nuggets will get frustrated and start chucking up a bunch of off balance 3’s, where they are shooting as a team like negative a billion percent.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
problem is AAA is a spot up shooter
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
It's stupid to put in fresh legs and hungry players
when you can keep whipping the same tired old horses
The_WJM - February 9, 2012
The thing with firing Karl, or making a coaching change right now,
is that the team already doesn’t get any practice time, what with the ridiculous schedule this year. When is, say, Sloan going to get the opportunity to install his stuff? When is any coach going to be able to change the way we play significantly? If we were to make a change, we could look to having even more ugly games, or, alternatively, have the new coach ride out the season with Karl’s system. I’m not sure that a change would truly be a positive step.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Maybe a different coach would stop the run run run crap
and play some younger less tired guys.
Maybe prevent injuries that extend into next season.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
This team needs to run.
We don’t have the shooters to run a “conventional” offense, as this past week has shown. If we make a change in style, we might as well blow it up and bring in a new set of players.
Russscot - February 9, 2012
Ok.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Agree
but I don’t think you can have two guards with one running it up the floor and the other walking it up.
The_WJM - February 9, 2012
Running isn't the problem
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
defense is obviously the problem, 37 points in the 3rd quarter?
no effort, no willingness to win, no emotions, dont care
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
hate to say it this season was lost when gallo went down
might as well gt on way with new coach and strategies
not_karl - February 9, 2012
The season isn't over. Not nearly
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
only 27 games into this season, were fine every team faces adversity
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
when we are getting beat by golden state at home..
and we we win only 2 more games this month and possibly 7 or 8 next month…its saf to say nuggets are finished
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Welp I think it's much too early to make that pronouncement.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
It isn't too early to say that we're in trouble though imo.
Agaliarept - February 9, 2012
In trouble yes, finished not yet.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
A funk doesn't mean Denver is a lottery team
Just like that 6-0 winning streak in January didn’t make Denver a championship team.
Denver is a good team playing bad basketball.
I’d advise you all against panicking, but you aren’t going to do that.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
march isnt as tough as february, its safe to say your clueless
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
Agreed
It’s not nearly over. But this is as bad as I remember Denver playing since 2002. They need to fix it and soon, or they are headed for the lotto.
nugzin2040 - February 9, 2012
no, it started with Moz, then it accelerated with various injuries to AAA, Nene - The Gallo
injury was the coup de gras (sp?). I see little chance that we survive Feb
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
we might beat phoenix next week
and possibly minnesota but coming off a b2b…i doubt it
not_karl - February 9, 2012
yeah but yur saying that we might win a few games
every team wins a few games but I reckon we’ll lose a whole bushel. Hope I’m wrong.
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
play jordan hamilton more, he might be the best answer but he can shoot
corey brewer from twitter “Man I hate watching my guys struggle keep your heads up nuggets we gonna be fine we just gotta keep working and get healthy.”
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
If we get healthy and together
we’ll be good in March and April but it might be too late for us to secure a playoff spot much less a good seed
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
1-9 to finish feb
march we might break even with gallo
not_karl - February 9, 2012
agreee with March but
I healthy, I dont see why we dont become a force again
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
if healthy...i agree nuggets might squeeze in with .500 or barely sub .500 record but probably not
not_karl - February 9, 2012
obviously a troll
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
NK, Seems like you dont have a high opinion of Nugs
Healthy or injured. Thats OK, but you might not have caught what Nugs have done when healthy since Gallo trade
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
your a knick fan right?
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
nope been watching nuggs since they drafted mutombo
and they had marcus liberty and cadillac anderson. not a big karl fan though. I call it as i see it. just my opinion. if that makes me a troll then rock on!
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Did you know that the nuggets have a
player development coordinator named Patrick Mutumbo? He is not related to Dikembe but he was an excellent ball player himself. He played for Metro State and won lots of awards.
Just an interesting bit of info for you.
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I didnt call you a troll, and glad to have you on board
but if you seem negative even when/if we get healthy, it does read a little like what Knick fans have posted here.
So you are legit, great, but there have been cases of stalking Knick fans here who betray selves via overly negative comments
FYI, my recent postings have been pessimistic but only because I believe that our injuries could completely derail season
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
I can solve all of Denver's problems with one trade
I am a life long Knicks fan. I love the Nuggets also (mostly because you have a few of my favorite Knicks). We will gladly trade you Melo for Gallo/Chandler and a first round pick. :-)
Wayne Crimi - February 9, 2012
no thanks
cfact - February 9, 2012
:p
Russscot - February 9, 2012
lol
This has been a good week for Knick fans I imagine. Lin tearing it up, of all people.
nugzin2040 - February 9, 2012
wouldnt give you gallo for Melo
straight up. But if you want to talk a bout Lin …
sgiustra - February 9, 2012
Lawson dissapointed me, karl asks him to be the stud, we get 11 points
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
True
I was unable to watch the game. I expected Ty to step up points-wise. What’s wrong? Looks to be passing better though…Was it his outside shot?
RoxWS2014 - February 9, 2012
I think hes just tired
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
Tonight was game 50 something for Ty
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Read above.
I think Lawson needs to spend the entire off season (because he won’t get a chance before then) shooting thousands of 10-15ft pull-up jumpers a day. Players will continue to back off him until he shows he can hit them consistently
Russscot - February 9, 2012
teams have the book on how to stop him
play him back, stop his penetration make him pass out to any number of guys that can’t shoot or penetrate…
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Henceforth:
Joking BANNED on Denver Stiffs. Since no one knows if / when anyone is joking or being sarcastic.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Is this a joke?
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I have no power
So, I can’t enforce anything.
But it’s no joke. Because, this is very important, if you have to explain it, it isn’t funny.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Fly, I appreciate your humor.
Continue.
KevinAwesome - February 9, 2012
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS??!
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
WHAT
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
I'm always serious.
This is serious business.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
No it's seriaz biznezz
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
I understand everyone is frustrated
If everyone is civil I will allow a lively conversation. Joking is always allowed. It’s print so sometimes you have to explain yourself. Nature of the beast
Jeffrey Morton - February 9, 2012
Seriously?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
(insert explaination)
Jeffrey Morton - February 9, 2012
LOL
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Blow it up! Blow it up!
I got a match…
nugzin2040 - February 9, 2012
At least Wayne's World is on
Put me in a better mood
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
Does anybody see a trade soon? they were obviously shopping birdman
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
Certainly
There will be a move.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
did you read or hear this?
or are you just assuming the DNPs are evidence that we are shopping him
Squito - February 9, 2012
Well he plays good one game the other night vs houston, then starts vs dallas
doesnt play tonight…
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
Something minor
Team isn’t likely to make a major trade imo. They’d try to dump birdman if they could, but it’s unlikely. Could trade Al I guess, if there was a team interested. Both guys brought in under a previous GM anyways. Doubt there’s any attachment to either.
nugzin2040 - February 9, 2012
this is sad
i was stoked about moving from HNL to DEN this spring so I could go watch a playoff game in the Can… now it looks like we might not make the post season. i hope this is just a funk and not an irreversible change.
Squito - February 9, 2012
We will make the postseason
Dead serious.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Who do you predict we will face in round one?
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
I have nothing to back this up
but I see the Lakers
Russscot - February 9, 2012
that would suck
ty gets owned by d.fish consistently, god i cringed just typing that
Squito - February 9, 2012
uh ty owns d fish
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
No idea.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
i think the talent is there
it’s the execution that is sucking right now. no passion either.
Squito - February 9, 2012
x
CombatChuk - February 9, 2012
I know it looks bleak right now
A bad stretch can screw things up for good teams.
And right now, the Nuggets are screwing themselves out of home court in the first round.
But there is a lot more screwing up that needs to happen before they screw themselves out of the playoffs entirely.
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Never thought id say this, but we need brewer more than ever right now
im not a huge fan of his but hes better than anyone else we have been starting at SF
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
No doubt
Fly Agaric - February 9, 2012
Im hoping hes back saturday for indiana! j ham needs to play more too
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
Don't worry it WILL get better!
Wayne Crimi - February 9, 2012
1 and 9 in feb,
8 – 8 in march, and 8 and 6 in april
in short nuggets end up with 32-34 overall record
missing playoffs by 2 games to rockets for 8th seed.
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Will you come back if you are incorrect and we make the playoffs?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
i hope i am wrong!!!
i will eat crow if i am wrong and happily admit it
not_karl - February 9, 2012
Yes but will come back and eat the crow with us?
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
only if its fried
not_karl - February 9, 2012
I think you guys are being too humorous
Cut it out willya!
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
Well, broiled crow is healthier...but hey whatever works.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
Were you also predicting the Nuggets would win a title after our 6-game winning streak?
In other words, silly prediction is silly. A 10-day funk =/= 2 more months of said funk.
neumdaddy - February 9, 2012
if(!1 0)
georgekarl - February 9, 2012
no but i predicted a 6-9 feb during that winning streak
wow was i being generous!
not_karl - February 9, 2012
positives from tonight's game
Could he be the shooter we need with Gallo out?
not_karl - February 9, 2012
im hoping j ham is that shooter, no pt though
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
after a few more loses
perhaps Karl will roll the dice with J-ham and see what the kid can do
not_karl - February 9, 2012
It can't be anymore worse than how the teams shooting lately, he made 2 3's didnt he?
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
During the Rockets game
immediately after finding out the results of Gallo’s x-rays I threw out the suggestion of a trade and got cyberly yelled at by many of you suggesting there will be a trade. What’s changed? That we’re losing without our best player and budding center?
RoxWS2014 - February 9, 2012
DOOD??!!! YOU WANT A TRADE?!?!
InboundingLobPass - February 9, 2012
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
5baker5 - February 9, 2012
W.T.F.
SDcat09 - February 9, 2012
IT's clear the tight rotations are hurtng the team now..
The Nuggs are dinged up, tired, dead legs, mentally out of it. Some of us have been saying that George needs to go way deep down his bench and lighten up the minutes for the regulars. This team just looks dead tired, mentally and physically. Time loosen the rotations and give the young guns some run. Dre, Nene, Al, Ty and AAA need some down time.
